Actually, they were known as red rattlers! My friends and I are of the age group when the ones single story with manually opening doors used to hang out the doors and smoke. And they are known as readers as they were when.

For heaven's sake stop referring to them as "red rattlers". They were never known by that name when in service.

Based on what? The only lie in this is when they said that Loco 1 hauled the first train. Locos 2 and 3 led it, one to Parramatta, the latter back to Central.
