Flicker is so so good, but goddamn if it isn't heartbreaking. It's one of those songs I can literally only listen to once or twice a year, it's so heavy and I genuinely cry every time I hear it. But one of the greatest tribute songs around for sure.
Living in MN my whole life I grew up listening to him and the Rhymesayers Crew. He actually passed away in 2010, the album - How I one the wrote too think was released in 2002. Just think this talent was out there 21 years ago and still is better than half the crap out there now. Glad you are touching on him - one of the best. R. EYE. P
You've got a new fan here. Long time Eyedea fan, so I'm glad to see more people are finally reacting to his music and spreading his love and madness. First song that hooked me was "Birth Of A Fish". It shattered my world compared to what popular mainstream rap was being pushed out at that time. Anywho, I'd love to see a reaction for "Birth of a Fish," "Paradise" and "By The Throat". All his songs are masterpieces, but those three are personal "vibe" favorites of mine that you don't see reactions/reviews for. Just a suggestion haha. Im so lucky I got to see him live alive in 2005. I think. He's gotten me get back into writing and rapping . This fucking guy said NO to getting signed by P Diddy at the time after he crushed everyone in that epic Blaze rap-battle competition. I wish I know Mike in real life ,but this song ..makes me cry. i feel so connected ..
I subbed just now because you're one of the few commenting on Eyedea.. I consider him as the best MC ever . Im picky . Eyedea would crush even Eminem in a freestyle battle . but it's Eyedeas philosophical songs I just feel is saying and talkin my soul and feelings ..

Btw, I REALLY want to buy all of Eyedeas albums legally, I prefer if whoever is related to him or who has the license of his music gets the biggest buck. Not a fan of Amazon, also, would love to own the rest of his cds. I got a vinyl player too. I love his music so much, I can relate soo much to his pains and struggles in a lot of his songs. and he combined complex rap-schemese and rhythms, metaphors, punchlines....just stunning!

yeah.. RIP Mikey ..i was blessed to see him and Abilities perform in sweden ,Hultsfred 2005-ish... hadn't heard of him before .. well, lets say.. my brain was blowed ! I bought his and Abilities cd that was new then AND this amazing cd from Oliver Heart, which this song is from that specific album ... Im 38 now.. so many songs Ive heard in my life in general har gone from "dope" to now. .. as an older wiser man, I actually can relate to a lot of the songs I was digging when younger , but NOW i FEEL them.
