Dooku keeping his identity is important for the same reason that Vader and Anakin are the same people he was always the Count of his home planet he was suppressing that side while a Jedi. Just like Anakin always had Vader inclinations. It's really fascinating how similar the two of them are.
Rugess Nome and Hego Damask both certainly kept their old lives; their Darth selves had to remain secret, and hidden, yet they needed a way to influence the wider galaxy around them, and the individuals that shared it with them. Neither one discarded their old selves; they just wore them as masks for convenience. I like to think many of them are like Batman. Superman's secret identity is Clark Kent, and Wonder Woman is Diana Prince, of Themescyra, but Bruce Wayne isn't Batman's secret identity. To him, Batman is Wayne's true self, and the billionaire is purely a convenient front to fund his escapades, and refine his kit. And sure, some of the others might seem that way, too, but Superman can wish he could just be Clark; that the Kansas farm kid could appeal to Lois, who has dated Luthor, and that thecworld didn't NEED him to be a demigod protector, but Bruce doesn't think that way; he doesn't ever wish he could just be that guy. To him, Bruce died that same night his parents did, and now that memory is expedient to his goals, but he'd never just let someone else do it. Somebody else might get it wrong. I think the SithbLords certainly became their Darth personae, and kept their public selves around to be useful, like any other pawns on their game board, but they never erased them because they were too useful to the plan, which was too important to just embrace their evil power, and be Darth.

I appreciate your point of view. In my eyes Dooku, Vader & Anikan probably felt they could single handily take on Sidious at anytime if they really wanted too. (Not saying it would be a success but in their mind they have a chance) Also maybe just being content and appreciative of the new to them dark side teachings they were getting at the time. Ive been subscribed to this channel for a long time and its one of if not my favorite star wars channels on UA-cam and i honestly thought theres no way this could last forever itll run out of steam theres only so much good content these days in the dark days of disney star wars (i know theres some good stuff like mandolorian but the trilogy was brutally bad) but i gotta say lately this channel is killing it! Like they hit the jackpot lately idk how but this channel is getting good content out regularly on star wars. Respect i have, good you have done. Oh also my only gripe about this channel and this is not me hating just saying as a small criticism but it comes from a place of love cause this channel is rockin it seriously but one thing… (if channel owner sees this idk) anytime you discuss mace windu vs sidious you either say palpatine/darth sidious faked his defeat at the hands of windu somehow miraculously knowing magically that anakin would turn and save him because of him looking weak and feeble and defenseless which makes no sense anyway or you make it sound like its a debatable theory. If they fought 100 times idk who would win more i think if mace has his lightsaber its more times a win for windu imo than it isnt but it could go either way however it is not up for debate in that particular fight windu beat sidious outright fair and square after being the only kne to fully recover from the force scream ambush he used his vaapad to beat sidious its explained thats how he won. Sidious tried to use his lightning to overcome his defeat but windu blocked it back unto him and basically got lucky anakin saved him and betrayed mace windu and the jedi order. Windu beat sidious in that fight fair and squRe and both foight extremely hard in the novelization anakin sees the last few moments in the fight and both qere moving at incredible force enhanced speeds that he cpuld varely see it was a blur of lightsabers to him watching the two mlst powerful beings on each side fight toe to toe in lightsaber combat (other than yoda yoda is stronger than mace windu according to windu himself but its clear mace was a close second and mace was by far the best swordsman in the jedi order other than maybe yoda although i like tk think plo koon is close in this argument as well and then likely dooku after that) anyway geroge lucas ecplains himself windu win fair and square and sidious fought as hard as he cpuld to kill all the jedi and nearly did right off the bat with the fkrce scream in the novel kkt fisto also managed to almost recover and fought longer but anakins arrival distracted him from fully recovering leading to him not keeping up with sidious insane speed and power and getti g hit with a blow that ubfkrtunately happened to be a fatal one. anyway quit saying or leavibg ig up to wonder or a theory or whatever the movie novel and lucas himself all say mace windu won outright against palpatine who was tryibg his hardest to kill windu the whole time. and they explain how he was able to do it is because he was the champion of the jedi order second to only yoda and he mastered all seven forms of lightsaver combat even flrm seven normally forbidden to most jedi and even created a lightside variant of seven called vaapad which draws upon the passion or thrill of battle and controls ones inner darkness ibtk a super conducting loop wgen darksidees use thw dark side of the force against them back onto the user of the dark side amping windus ability greatly when against the dark side or sith. people tgink vaapad is only useful against the sith but thats nlt true either its great against everything even grievous who wasnt force sensitive it comes across like juyo to everyone else although im sure mace windu uses many forms as needed since he mastered all of them and he transistions super smoothly like a boss but it is super amped when he fights a sith. also he used his other op force ability that not many jedi have called shatterpoint where he focuses on the battle and with the force can see pros and cons string and weak points so with these two abilities windu was able to defeat one of the most powerful sith lords of all time who had even more potential supposedly than yoda (palpatine was supposedly yoda lvl potential a bit more from what ive read) mace windu had a ton of potential himself and extreme work ethic for a time thw jedi thought he may be the chosen one until he got older and then when theybfound anakin that for sure killed that theory cause even a young mace windu gave a prime dooku a run for his money. anyway quit saying sidious faked it to turn anakin that wouldnt make sense flr seceral reasons anyway but that is what saved him but it was a lucky jntervention after he begged. windu is an absolute monster of a fighter and deserves the credit of defeating palpatine. and im not saying this because im a fan or anything i do like his skills and the way he worked for them and the warruor mindset i do resoect that more thN any jedi if i was a jedi id have to follow windu in that aspect or i couldnt be a jedi otherwise because i am passionate simpke as that also id fight for anything i believed in and willingly fight evil so i need that passion or i would as a jedi but plo koon is actually my favorite jedi nkt windu so im sating this after years of reading about star wars and listening to lucas the creator give interviews and ive seen this fight covered many many times… save this channel make a video diacussing tgis fight and give windu the credit he deserves also make a plo koon video if you havent already kne of the coolest jedi imo hes like thw gandalf the grey of thw jedi order hes also in command of the coolest clone unit hands down the wolfpack led by commander wolffe.. best jedi and clone unit easy
I do not believe Dooku really wanted to be a Sith. He just saw this path as a way to fix the system. I actually agree with his visions about the flaws of the Jedi and The Republic, but I can't agree with his actions and decision to force his views through violence and manipulation, instead of diplomacy and education. Yes, the path of Light is slower and harder but tends to produce real and long lasting changes. Anything that is forced and doomed for failure. It just produce illusions that are short lived.
He broke away from the Jedi as he hated they made him a pawn but he would end up as a biger pawn to the sith.

Windu beat sidious in that fight fair and squRe and both foight extremely hard in the novelization anakin sees the last few moments in the fight and both qere moving at incredible force enhanced speeds that he cpuld varely see it was a blur of lightsabers to him watching the two mlst powerful beings on each side fight toe to toe in lightsaber combat (other than yoda yoda is stronger than mace windu according to windu himself but its clear mace was a close second and mace was by far the best swordsman in the jedi order other than maybe yoda although i like tk think plo koon is close in this argument as well and then likely dooku after that) anyway geroge lucas ecplains himself windu win fair and square and sidious fought as hard as he cpuld to kill all the jedi and nearly did right off the bat with the fkrce scream in the novel kkt fisto also managed to almost recover and fought longer but anakins arrival distracted him from fully recovering leading to him not keeping up with sidious insane speed and power and getti g hit with a blow that ubfkrtunately happened to be a fatal one. anyway quit saying or leavibg ig up to wonder or a theory or whatever the movie novel and lucas himself all say mace windu won outright against palpatine who was tryibg his hardest to kill windu the whole time. and they explain how he was able to do it is because he was the champion of the jedi order second to only yoda and he mastered all seven forms of lightsaver combat even flrm seven normally forbidden to most jedi and even created a lightside variant of seven called vaapad which draws upon the passion or thrill of battle and controls ones inner darkness ibtk a super conducting loop wgen darksidees use thw dark side of the force against them back onto the user of the dark side amping windus ability greatly when against the dark side or sith. people tgink vaapad is only useful against the sith but thats nlt true either its great against everything even grievous who wasnt force sensitive it comes across like juyo to everyone else although im sure mace windu uses many forms as needed since he mastered all of them and he transistions super smoothly like a boss but it is super amped when he fights a sith. also he used his other op force ability that not many jedi have called shatterpoint where he focuses on the battle and with the force can see pros and cons string and weak points so with these two abilities windu was able to defeat one of the most powerful sith lords of all time who had even more potential supposedly than yoda (palpatine was supposedly yoda lvl potential a bit more from what ive read) mace windu had a ton of potential himself and extreme work ethic for a time thw jedi thought he may be the chosen one until he got older and then when theybfound anakin that for sure killed that theory cause even a young mace windu gave a prime dooku a run for his money. anyway quit saying sidious faked it to turn anakin that wouldnt make sense flr seceral reasons anyway but that is what saved him but it was a lucky jntervention after he begged. windu is an absolute monster of a fighter and deserves the credit of defeating palpatine. and im not saying this because im a fan or anything i do like his skills and the way he worked for them and the warruor mindset i do resoect that more thN any jedi if i was a jedi id have to follow windu in that aspect or i couldnt be a jedi otherwise because i am passionate simpke as that also id fight for anything i believed in and willingly fight evil so i need that passion or i would as a jedi but plo koon is actually my favorite jedi nkt windu so im sating this after years of reading about star wars and listening to lucas the creator give interviews and ive seen this fight covered many many times… save this channel make a video diacussing tgis fight and give windu the credit he deserves also make a plo koon video if you havent already kne of the coolest jedi imo hes like thw gandalf the grey of thw jedi order hes also in command of the coolest clone unit hands down the wolfpack led by commander wolffe.. best jedi and clone unit easy

I do not believe Dooku really wanted to be a Sith. He just saw this path as a way to fix the system. I actually agree with his visions about the flaws of the Jedi and The Republic, but I can't agree with his actions and decision to force his views through violence and manipulation, instead of diplomacy and education. Yes, the path of Light is slower and harder but tends to produce real and long lasting changes. Anything that is forced and doomed for failure. It just produce illusions that are short lived.
