So far this reel feels solid for the price, and it’s not bad looking.
Comparing the specific digital line counter feature to the daiwa accudepth, the Abu DLC comes out ahead with a light and more functions and easy to use. Accuracy is great so far.
Comparing battery change. The Abu DLC comes out way ahead.

I absolutely love this rod after fishing it for a year.

I choose this setup for deep water bottom bouncing for walleye with 4-6 ounce lead bottom walkers. The goal is to feel the lead making contact with the bottom without a doubt while fishing over 70 ft and this rod has been great for that. This rod is a little overkill for lead under 4 ounces.
And dropper fishing for Kokanee sometimes when I need over 4 ounce lead droppers.

That looks like a great setup. I never heard of the Crate rod before.
I really like the digital counter but the line capacity is really low. I have been doing some research and is why I'm here.
The reservoir is 100' to 200' to the bottom and is why I'm looking for a new rig setup.
Looking to setup some 12 oz to 16 oz weight with a 360 flasher. So I'd need a good solid rod but enough to see the performance of the flasher on the end of the pole.
I originally was going with Okuma line counter reel but they have been having some issues with it occasionally. Some are replacing the washers inside the reel for better performance.
Anyway, just figured that I would see how your setup has been working for you. I wish that Abu made a bigger reel and line capacity. Have a great day. I really like that reel and the features but I don't think that it would work for me unfortunately...
Thanks Paul. Look at the okuma Coldwater Ss low profile. You are correct the abu is to small.
I'm thinking of getting two of the Max DLC's, one left-handed and one right-handed to use backtrolling plugs & diver + bait for steelhead. In your view are they tough enough for this application? I like the low profile and 20# drag, line capacity is small at 135yds +- but if a fish is that far away, well, game over. Thanks!
