Place your bets on what his Steins;Gate "great vegetables" quit moment is gonna be this time. . . . . . . . . SPOILERS BELOW . . . . . . . . . . My money is on the goat butlers
Honestly, considering that he's realized how the family conference is a play on how the characters' introductions presented everyone, he might be good faith enough to understand that that's just a difficulty spike rather than the story going off the rails for no reason. (Spoilers!) From my experience, seeing others play the game on UA-cam and Twitch at least, a good tell of if people will take things at face value or not is how they react to EP1's Tea Party. I've noticed that most people who think Battler is in the wrong continue to believe so into EP2, which makes sense to a degree. If he either doesn't think magic is real by then or Battler's interruption turns him around, then I think there's a good chance the goats don't trip him up (at least, more than they are supposed to).
1:38:20, feels like chat might be being a little weird here. I don't think her comments about not being able to overpower a man forever are necessarily sexist. 1:59:29, I knew he was living with his grandparents but didn't think about how much they had. It's possible his "I don't feel very rich" attitude is actually not super cringe because if his grandparents were legitimately average he'd have been living a normal life for who knows (yet) how long. Now him trying to defend George and Jessica, presumably because he likes them, is still probably off base since they likely don't have the grounding to know what it's really like to not be rich. 4:43:00, This isn't a criticism of the writing but of the characters. It really annoys me that they couldn't just say, "we get that it's morbid but this is a complex matter so we should start early so we don't get surprised. We don't need to rush but we do need to start". Instead it's a back and forth sniping of "you just want him to die and get the money" and "you just don't want us to look at the books". Even if either of those things are true it's not helping the situation.
4:55:55 hm, i wouldnt call it so fast when there could be half the words for the same effect, but compared to the 4 hours before, it definitely is subjectively more "significant"
!!! SPOILERS FOR UMINEKO !!! . . . . . . . . . . So, I read the first four chapters of Umineko in 2019 and ultimately decided to give up on reading the VN because I wasn't really enjoying the direction the story was going. The aspects I liked the most about Umineko were the horror and mystery aspects, aswell as the high impact emotional scenes that built up like a crescendo and felt so cathartic and gripping. From the start of Chapter 3 I could see that the story started to shift and focus more on the magic aspect and on the meta-narrative aspect of things, both of which I wasn't really that big of a fan of. I remember clearly being distraught when suddenly Beatrice was having a full-on shonen manga fight with Virgilia in chapter 3. To me it felt like the story went too 'off the rails'. Anyways, I'm happy to see Joe started reading the VN for real this time and am really curious to see what his thoughts on the VN are after playing it. Maybe it will motivate me to finish it.
@@triplesocks (Spoilers) I think when these fights first occur in chapters 3 and 4 they're meant to set up the premise of unreliable narration throughout the rest of the series; I mean, virgillia, even tells Battler as much, and I think it got that point across pretty effectively. In the later chapters their importance is still present as it represents all the different retellings people have made of the rokkenjima massacre, tying into the idea of there being several truths and whatnot. I agree they could be a bit overbearing at times, but it still made for some hype and aura moments so i dont mind.
@@professionalairhead5582 (Spoilers) Yeah, you're supposed to look at Virgilia vs Beatrice, see all the nonsense terms and attacks they do and the shounen commentary from Ronove and the Stakes, and think, "okay, this nonsense surely isn't actually happening". Especially when no one on the island hears any of these literal giants stomping around, lol. If you also happen to like that stuff, then it's just an added fun factor to it all, but the main point is to think deeper about why these fights are in the story. EP4's loser flag scene is one of my favorite scenes in the game for this (SPOILERS! Full game spoilers!!): It's supposed to tell you that Beatrice _really_ needs those guys out of Kuwadorian, for some reason, to the point where joke fight logic is used to explain how these normal humans could possibly beat Virgilia, someone who could even beat Beatrice in a fair fight, and escape. The answer being that they were never in Kuwadorian to begin with, so they need to "get out" of there so the story makes sense. This would not be as obvious as it is if it wasn't that ludicrous and hilarious.
@@professionalairhead5582 Their purpose is obvious, they're still super dull to read and take up way too much time IMO. If I wanted to read a good VN fight I'd read a chuunige, not Ryukishi's attempts at one in the middle of his murder mystery.
The fights were my favorite part of the VN. To be clear, I loved everything, the mystery, the emotional, the horror and so on. But the fights, especially in chapter 5 and 6 was what stuck out the most out to me. I love how the story mix logic debates and action shonen battle, it's very cool. You can dislike those parts but I don't think those are stupid.

sitting with your family to eat is... dystopian? 😭 you might wanna double check what that word means, because its definitely not "someone having slightly stricter parents"

EP4's loser flag scene is one of my favorite scenes in the game for this (SPOILERS! Full game spoilers!!):
It's supposed to tell you that Beatrice _really_ needs those guys out of Kuwadorian, for some reason, to the point where joke fight logic is used to explain how these normal humans could possibly beat Virgilia, someone who could even beat Beatrice in a fair fight, and escape.
Must have been the easiest stream of all time to edit.
I actually zoned out at least 10 times, but yeah, lots of just staring at the stream.
@@nonofficialdailyjosephandersonbeware that Umineko tends to be a content ID nightmare since a lot of the songs are copyrighted
Thanks for the heads up, I'll upload the vods ahead of time to know what sections are problematic to avoid re-upload delays.
I tried reading umineko on the bus, stopped when it got to jessica
Thx for the edit, nodja
umineko is a slog, and the quality worsens the further you go. he's gonna drop this for sure, but we might get a few legendary rants.
I'd say it's more of a rollercoaster of quality, who knows, maybe the few peaks make him end up pretty far
Holy cope
Idk I think he’ll definitely get past episode 1 at least, but we’ll see how he deals with the shenanigans. I have a feeling a few sisters or bunnies might rile him up a bit.
Not gunna lie, the whole no TV sit and eat dinner at the table thing Joe mentioned feels dystopian. It's fine when it's organic, but a forced household rule, I dunno. If I try to put myself into the head of me as a kid, I think I'd have rebelled against that fervently.
sitting with your family to eat is... dystopian? 😭 you might wanna double check what that word means, because its definitely not "someone having slightly stricter parents"
That’s an insane take, most kids/teens spend their time in their rooms/outside so spending at most 15 minutes with their family while they eat is nothing
Yeah this is a pretty zoomer-brained take my guy. Having actual human connection with your family is a good thing.
yikes
if you think a kid spending a dozen minutes talking with their family without a screen in front of them is dystopian then you must be a very sad man
