Great critique Simon. It's great to hear artists talk about their own work in depth.

Beautiful pieces! I really like your forms, especially the olive oil bottle. The subtle brown color is delightful.

Hey Simon, I'm a student at Northern Arizona University and your videos have always been an inspiration to me. We do a lot of atmospheric firings here (wood and soda) and I'd like to share my experience with you. I find that clay bodies with very little iron work the best in those types of firings. Also to enhance the flashing effect of the salt hitting the piece I would suggest looking up flashing slip recopies to achieve beautiful warm oranges and yellows. I hope this has helped in some small way. All the best, KP,
    Louie

Thank you for the video. In two weeks I am also going to have some pots in a salt firing ... so for me it was very interesting. As always I enjoy and look forward to your videos.

Thanks Simon, Love the chuck, I have a giffin grip, but as you said, sometimes that won;t work. Love that paddle work. Those were really appealing cups. I;m heading out to my studio now with new plans for the day.I was going to glaze for next weekend's show, but will make a chuck and tea bowls instead.Thank you!

I'd love to see that potato peeler effect over a pitcher.

Your honesty and open nature is very refreshing, thanks for sharing your successes and failures as it allows us to learn from them. Is a salt kiln different from a soda kiln?

Hey Simon, I love the results of the salt firing. Do you think you would like to make some videos on how to make the soap dish and Olive oil bottles, I really like it and I like the first Olive oil bottle. I don't recall seeing any videos on those. The juicers came out great. Take care Simon and as always I do love watching your videos!

Have you heard of Beles King pottery ? Several pieces were found in a burned out trailer in the California desert south of I-10 west of Colorado river

I would love to watch you convert an old electric kiln to soda. Would it still be a downdraft with the same chimney set up? Would you add more ports for putting in the soda? Could you line the kiln with those thin hard bricks you use for the chimney to resist the corrosion better than the soft ones? Thanks for sharing

Digg'in the salt!! For the pots that rock on their bases i use my trusty belt sander with a silicon carbide belt works great and much faster then a hand stone!!
