He got good foot work, but I think his wingspan plus his athleticism is what separates him. Him being able to shoot 3s is what will take him to super stardom. Even being automatic from 20 feet, as long as they respect his shot. The vid finally showed his pull up, he looks like he has pretty good mechanics, and his deep thee looks ok too.
id argue that his fundementals don't look as sound. His handle isn't tight enough and it seems like hes using his raw athletacism to score in a lot of these plays. He has a lot to work on but he looks NBA bound for sure
@@sohamjain7803 He's a 6'9 3 level scorer, his handle looks great to me especially for him to had been at freshman at the time. He plays like sga but taller. Kid is a stud. I didn't see any weakness in his game ... Btw I played college 🏀
@@lakerlll1939 I do not feel like he is clear number 1 either. He is good no doubt but I think Cameron Boozer has a better overall skill set. Cameron definitely a much better outside shooter with reasonable range.
A.J is definitely Uber athletic and a very gifted basketball player. Offensively he really has everything, he can shoot the 3,has the pull-up jumper, has the step-back jumper, has the post game and is very good at finishing at the rim. He has super footwork, great body length, a quick 2nd jump. He's got good handles, a good passer and a great eye for finding open teammates, he's also a solid rebounder. He's also very creative at finishing around the rim, has quick feet and very good moves to get past defenders. He's also a solid defender but I think his Offensive skills are definitely superior to his defensive skills and that's not a knock on A.J at all because he's just that good Offensively. He's very good at jumping passing lanes and getting steals that usually end with him quickly finishing at the opposite end with a dunk. He blocks shots here and there and is a decent defender but I definitely wouldn't say a lock down defender. The young man is super talented and athletic, the sky is the limit. Adding some muscle weight would definitely benefit him as he steps up in competition in college and then the nba and I'm sure he will do that and get stronger, I mean he's still growing into his body. I'm not saying he has to add weight and muscle to be successful at the next levels but I definitely think it would benefit him. Either way I think A.J is a future multiple nba all-star. Is he clearly the #1 player in this class? I honestly can't say that he's without a doubt the clear above and beyond #1. Boozer is also a superior athlete and is supremely gifted. I like them both very much and I'm not able to pick 1 over the other. Where 1 might have an advantage over the other 1 then the other 1 has an advantage over them somewhere else so it's a tough evaluation. I will just end with they are both very gifted and I think both will be very successful in college and in the nba, I think they are both future multiple nba all-stars and that they would make amazing teammates with DUKE scrolled across their chests 😁
These are the best highlights from AJ's freshman season. He just reclassified from 2026 to 2025 (skipping his sophomore season) and is now ranked as the #1 junior in high school basketball by both ESPN and 247Sports.
