Clayton is the GOAT bro. I've been almost failing this entire course because I didn't understand anything and bs'd my way through everything. After finding this series, I started taking notes and actually understanding what I'm doing. My final exam is in 7 days, and I really feel confident that I'll do great. Didn't know that this course was actually fun until the final week (rip lmao). Definitely gonna watch all his solid mechanics lectures so I can pass that course too. Thank you Clayton, you're an absolute DEMON (it's a compliment - good demon) at explaining complex topics in an easy-to-understand way.

I can't thank you enough clayton. Dont ever think that we make a sad face until we watch your videos to study. I just wish I got teachers like you in all the courses but as they say everybody's not the same and its true nobody is better than you. Clayton on top 🙌

In the U.S. counter clockwise is positive moment, so we're only taught the left sign convention and its understood the right is "equal and opposite" per Newtons law. In my class normal forces are understood to be perpendicular to the surface, so its explained as normal to the cross sectional cut and shear would be parallel to the cut surface; same thing just worded differently.

We usually write moments in lb x ft in USA.

I’m seeing hinges on my labs and I have absolutely no idea what to do and it’s like there’s no information on it. Could you help with this please

At 12:22 which side of the sign convention are you considering positive for canadian unis? I'm having difficultly conceptualizing it as Happy or sad, as both moments seem to be pointing up.

you have to consider how the actual beam would bend not the moment arrows
