    I have the first gen Clarisea for more than one year and would not live without one. And for those thinking their flow is too high I would suggest installing a flow meter. Most people will find out that their actual flow is half of what they expected. I had a Vectra L1 in my system running at 65% and I thought I was getting some 1000 gallons plus of flow. I installed a GHL flow meter and much to my amazement I was getting about 400 gallons! So I would say the sk 5000 at 5000 liters per hour is more than enough for all but the very largest tanks out there... much like Sir David's one.

    I just bought a custom Synergy Reef systems CL44 SUMP WITH fILER SOCKS THAT I am looking to get rid of!!! How would you compare this to the new ClariSea fleece filters gen 2 vs the new Roller mat Compact?

    It's only David Saxby :) owner of the worlds most amazing private aquarium. He knows his stuff.

      Man I totally agree, D.Saxby has THE best home aquarium and its here in UK which is awesome. Made me look closer at D-D products. Their temp controller is amazing, clarisea is amazing and I might even get their Reef pro aquarium with the invisible overflow....
      I was thinking about changing from AI hydra 32hd to Radions XR 15's on new tank, BUT if AI hydras are good enough for David Saxbys tank, they are good enough for me. Case closed

      Yep, the fact he dropped his T5 proved he was confident in The hydras, I have the primes for my frags and they grow colourful sps. I run T5 with some DIY led, but of late thinking might move over to hydras , with enough of them there’s no shadows and you can download his exact settings. I’ve watched his tank videos over and over, his skills are off the charts, I like that his tank isn’t an SPS show tank but rather a slice of reef. Ecotech, I just can’t drop that kinda coin per light, maybe the new one now that you can run the leds at full for their blue model. So many people were running them at like 40% , waste of money. I’d love a tank of primes :) not the cheapest however if you focus them on key corals it may work out cheaper , lighting softies can be done with T5 strips

    I wish someone would show how exactly it is to be placed in the sump. Does it feed directly or bypass? Does it have to hang on the side? Appreciate the video!

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 років тому +1

      It can hang on the side or sit on the bottom/sand depending on the water height. you can feed it from an overflow or a manifold.. you have options! Im going to put one on the new build so will do videos on that when the time comes

      Good deal! Will look forward to that! I have a crystalreefaquatics srs60 sump, I think I could get this roller to work well with. Will be following along to see your implementation! Love the look/size of this one. The klir reminds me of a public restroom stall. Lol

      I have mine connected directly to the downpipe, I removed the sock holders and down pipe chamber and have it hanging on the side where the filter socks used to be.
      Before my DIY on the sump i had it sitting on egg crate being supplied by a pump in the sump

      Socks are nice to polish but a pain to change! So maybe that’s a good thing! I skipped the sock holder on my new sump design. If you don’t have socks this is the perfect one for you!

    I have just bought and installed it without any problems. Yes it is good. My skimmer only seems to be ticking over. I used to empty the cup every 3 or 4 days. I think now it will go a week or 10 days.
    But one issue. It does make the room smell a bit and is wet on the used fleece roller. This is something to look into. Has anyone else noticed this?
    Thanks

    Is that David Saxby? Curious about a automated filter roll, but have a pretty high flow rate. Guess the only way around that is multiple units.

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 років тому

      Sure is! You wouldn't need to filter all of your water through it so I think the partial flow through it would be enough as water passes through many times per day. David was showing me pics of his personal tank.. WOW!

    That power cord is a problem.. Too many bends and the wire things out or either the motor starts spinning and grabs the cord.

    This product is out dated and there are better solutions now. Whatcha think?

    • @ReefDudes
      @ReefDudes  6 років тому

      I think it depends on your situation.. Roller matt is toooo big for many situations. KLIR is good if you are trying to use an existing filter sock hole. If you don't have a sock holder and have space then I think this is a better solution as the bigger rolls will last longer. I have also seen some put it after normal socks to "pre filter" it and make the roll last much longer. i'm doing a new tank/sump in the next month or so. I purposely left out the sock holders as I plan on using one of these instead so for me longer duration between maintenance is a big win!
