My headcanon is that final wars G had previous adventures with Rodan, angerus, and Cesar and thus was friends with them in his timeline. That's why he spared them

It’s interesting that Toho originally wanted Rodan as the antagonist for rebirth of mothra 3 and then 21 years later, Rodan would finally face Mothra in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. That’s pretty cool. Some ideas never truly die in the Godzilla series.
"There's something appropriate about Godzilla sparing three of his greatest allies." I've always liked this. I think someone at Toho realized it might leave a bad taste in the audience's mouth for Godzilla to kill three monsters he's traditionally been friendly with, especially in his anniversary celebration.
There was originally an alternate take on that scene where Godzilla did kill Anguirus, Rodan and King Caesar after the fight. But due to reactions from test screenings, they realised the idea of Godzilla killing three of his allies wouldn't bode well.
But King Ceaser got thrown ontop of Angirus' shell thats gotta hurt.

Millennium Rodan is honestly my favorite Toho Rodan design. It's a bit silly, but the main reason is the softer material used on his wings that shifts and flaps as he moves.
Heisei Rodan was my favorite design up until the MonsterVerse incarnation came along.

The dub of Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2 has all the characters calling him “Radon” instead of Rodan
That always bugged me. I mean sure WikiZilla said Radon is the Japanese name and all, But using the Japanese name in the English Dub always drove me nuts!

Those Dubs were something... not sure if that something was good but it was certainly something.
Also yeah I much prefer the version of Final Wars we got where Godzilla doesn’t kill Rodan, Anguirus, and King Ceaser.
This was a great video. Super informative and very entertaining. Rodan is my second favorite Toho Kaiju after Godzilla. Unfortunately I feel like his heisei era movie and Millennium era movie are terrible. He deserves better Scripts beyond butt brains and beam wars and glorified extended cameos.
