I think the crying after yujis death was something you could complain about as they hadn't been friends for long at all but they were good friends by season 2. It makes sense to me that Yuji would be upset. If one of the friends I made in the last few months (that I spent the majority of each day with) died in front of me I would cry and react like Yuji. I quit before watching shippuden so I can't speak to shippuden but the naruto trio is a lot less enjoyable than these guys for me. These ones feel like they used the basis for the naruto trio but made them more interesting and likable (this is spoken as someone who couldn't force myself through naruto though so my opinion will be different to a fan of narutos). The naruto ones barely felt like friends because none of them had chemistry with each other. It's all about personal taste so if this trio isn't for you then that's fine.

The scene with the guy scouting a girl in the beginning was most likely in the gravure business, it is typically filled with "cute" models but Kugisaki Nobara gives off this... how do I say it, intimidating/tomboy/ delinquent vibes that the guy backed off.
