The Reel Rejects It was the first time I’ve ever watched something where the score being the best part about it wasn’t code for it absolutely sucking. In fact, it was amazing. It just literally had the greatest score ever.
For the record guys, Yoda's species and home planet have never been revealed before. As far as I know this is the third of his kind to appear in any Star Wars media
@@matthewcronin2325 I think there were some more of his kind in Legends books, but this is only the 3rd considered canon. This is a huge deal! Maybe they'll actually name the species!

Yoda's species was never named. This baby makes only three ever seen in canon. It's a big deal.

@@Gahlahad431 Uhhhh, no. There was so much bullshit out there when anyone could write a Star Wars book or comic. There were at least three Lukes, Luke had multiple different wives during the same period based on different stories, names and personalities of each character's children were different depending on which story you read. It was a clusterfuck and Disney streamlined it. Yeah it sucks some cool shit got cut out, but you really expect them to say *"Okay so the movies and TV shows are canon, except for the Christmas special and Boba Fett cartoon, and only some games are canon, aaaaand these random 15 stories are also canon, but none of these other stories or comics or shows or games are"* ?????

R1 felt like a mature movie not made for childrens so it was refreshing for the franchise and I liked it so much even if they all died it had more epic than the last 2 movies together... and showing us that there can be a path in the force aside of Jedi and Sith ways... Great show so far, and when it comes to the Yoda species, there have only ever been appearances of them about three times with Yoda included. They’re a mystery to the hardcore fan base also, so I hope that this show expands our knowledge of them. Look forward to watching more and then watching your reaction/discussion.

Another mystery I like is "Who sent IG-11?" The Mandalorian had orders to bring back alive for the full bounty or proof of termination for a lesser fee. Where as IG-11 seemed to just have orders to terminate. They may be in the same guild but they were hired by different people.

It's in keeping with the spaghetti western homage this show is obviously creating. Clint Eastwood was the "man with no name" and the Mandalorian is the "man with no face".
When I was watching it I realized I almost don’t want him to. It keeps the mystery and intrigue.

I saw episode 1 yesterday and it was more questions than answers which is good. The ending was definitely good and I am just excited to see more storylines. It really has that Rogue One A Star Wars Story tone.

I'd say it's more the best aspects of Solo than that it has a Rogue One tone. The old Western vibe and cinematography.
Going back to watch all of these reactions is so cool to watch the progression of the series
The thing I love most about this so far is it has the character and feel of the setting without recycling the obvious set pieces from the original movies (they're not stuck on bloody tattooine AGAIN for example). In the first episode alone, we get introduced to new species, some new planets with new wildlife, and some introductions to new cultures (ie. the stuff with the mando armorer, or the fact that the IG series droids are apparently programmed for self destruction to avoid capture). Overall, it feels like the show is driving the setting forward rather than diving into the past like so many of the other Star Wars media.

I kinda hope not. I like the mystery. Also, I'm not sure how a baby would be able to give us any more insight into the history/origin of the race than Yoda could have. It's not like it knows where it came from.

Good watch/review RRCrew! I really dug The Mandalorian pilot episode, and knew it would be good since Filoni & Favreau were spearheading the show...
The time era/world building set up was great, good action and prod design...
My fave scenes were Mando's meeting with Imperial Werner Herzog (he was so good and I hope he is in the series more) and the Mando tribe blacksmith armor making scene...
*Also the set up of the asset being a "Yoda" species child could be a Lone Wolf & Cub/Yojimbo type of dynamic which matches this series' space western influence of samurai/spaghetti/regular westerns etc...
*Loved the IG Droid and how they set it up to be sort of a possible Chewie & Han relationship, but NOPE! Mando blasts him dead haha! Loved that character reveal.

Actually we know absolutely nothing about Yodas origin and species. This is the third one we’ve seen. The other two were both Jedi.

Saylos Relyks no darksaber! Rebels established Bo-Karan as the mandalore during this period. She holds the dark saber at the end of the empire period. I do think we will see the dark saber and maybe he will eventually become the mandalore!

We’re waiting to get Disney+ until the rush to get in dies down, I can’t wait any longer though.
Beskar can resist lightsabers and a hell of a lot of blaster fire so that's what made Mandalorians in pure Beskar armor so respected and feared. The fact that it's only found on their homeworld and the Empire absconded with almost all of it (i think) is why the main character is so tempted by the pay.
I'm really looking forward to learning more about the actual Mandalorians themselves. I hope they use the good stuff from Legends like the Crusaders and Mandalorian wars. Solid episode and the show looks really promising.
Chase D I’ve seen clone wars I didn’t really like the whole pacifist mandalore but the story around it was pretty good especially the later arcs towards the end of the series. I’m hoping for more of the legends kotor stuff.
I am so happy I got Disney+ for this and so many other awesome stuff. This show has potential to be the best thing in the new Star Wars canon.

When it came to Yoda's species, George Lucas had 1 rule regarding Lucasfilms, Lucasarts, and all relative books and comics: "Do not mention Yoda's species." The fact that we are actually seeing another is a revolutionary moment in the Star Wars mythos.

So… Is there no currency exchange in the world of Star Wars?
Zac Hughes well there probably is, but like IRL different currencies are worth different amounts. Imperial credits are probably worth very little, due to the Empire’s fall.
I think the issue here is that since the Empire has fallen, while the imperial credits "still spend", it is probably getting increasingly harder to find people who are willing to take them. This probably goes even moreso for any kind of exchange. Seems reasonable to request payment in a form of currency that is more stable than one of a government that is in decline / fallen.
They are referring to the Expanded Universe version of the Mythosaur now, not the holiday special. Not anymore atleast because of how corny it is. Speculation. Which explains the bounty hunter cigil, a skull with horns protruding out of it. The skull of the Mythosaur.

@@donnovandalusong266 Despite having a somewhat working demo etc. it was too much like the uncharted series, which considering they got one creators of said uncharted series to spearhead the project you'd expect.
The taming scene was very important. It showed that he may be force sensitive. In SW, not all force sensitives become a Jedi or Sith. Many races/cultures use the force in a myriad of ways.

Another awesome thing in the Star Wars universe, really looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. I'm curious as to why the blacksmith put the new shoulder armor over the old armor, is that just the mandalorian way? I have a theory regarding the baby yoda, but it's kind of reaching and is probably wrong. What if Yoda's species/race is eventually reborn after death and this baby is Master Yoda reborn? We don't know how long after RoTJ this takes place, and we know nothing of Yoda's race/species so it's a possibility. I get the feeling this man, the main Mandalorian, wasn't born a mandalorian but was adopted by them judging by those flashbacks.

looking at episode director/writers. 8 episodes confirm for s1. dave filoni directs episdoe 1 and 5 with the rest being various directors. jon favreu is doing all writing except for episdoe 6 with someone else doing story.
gonna be very blunt. direction may get sloppy. each director always have a different view point. so say 1 writer explain a scene to 3 directors each one will see the scene play out differently. so with 7 directors with filoni only doing 2 things may get shaky.
update: nvm 5 directors. filoni does 2, rick famuyiwa and deborah chow will each have 2 episdoes to direct.
