“Let It Rock” (1959) is sung from the perspective of a railroad worker in Alabama. At the end of the day, he and his co-workers are on the tracks playing dice when the foreman warns them that a train is coming. The words “Let It Rock” do not appear in the text, but they indicate that the train coming through represents rock and roll. Many of Berry’s tunes relate to teenagers, but this one has more mature themes and a blues feeling. Many artists were influenced by the Father of Rock and Roll. And many of them taped their own version of “Let It Rock” : Eric Clapton, The Animals, The Rolling Stones, to name a few. The Stones cover was on the UK B-side of “Brown Sugar”, issued in 1971. It didn’t make it on any album until the worldwide release of “Rarities 1971-2003” in 2005. 💙🎸💛 May you rest in peace, Charles Edward Anderson Berry (1926 - 2017)… 🌹
When I was young, my dad bought me two records: one was the best of Jerry Lee Lewis, the other was the best of Chuck Berry. This set me on a proper and true course into what real music was. This led to bands like Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, etc. and my own guitar based music. It all began right here, with Reelin and Rockin and Chuck Berry... more talent in his pinky fingernail than Lady Gaga, Madonna, Bierber, Azlea, One Direction and the rest of the plastic studio creations. Berry is the man and will ALWAYS be the man.
Good post up until the point you started listening to led zeppelin. That band was always trash and for posers. So it makes the last parts of your comment ironic. They were no better than the other "no talent" musicians you listed.
I remember being at a Penetration gig, 1979 and a bloke walked in with a T-Shirt saying Bollocks to Chuck Berry. Well all of us recoiled as we fucking love Chuck Berry....and in 2021 he is out performing Penetration for listening figures (understatement). Geddit?
Sometimes I will, then again I think I won't Sometimes I will, then again I think I won't Sometimes I do, then again I think I don't Well I looked at my watch, it was 9:21 We was at a rock'n'roll dance having nothing but fun And we rolled, reelin' and a rockin' We was reelin' and rockin' Rollin' till the break of dawn Well I looked at my watch, it was 9:32 There's nothing I'd rather do than dance with you And we rolled, reelin' and a rockin' We was reelin' and rockin' Well till the break of dawn Well I looked at my watch, it was 9:43 And everytime I spinned she spinned with me And we reeled, reelin' and rockin' We was reelin' and a rockin' Rollin' till the break of dawn Well I looked at my watch, it was 9:54 I said, "Dance ballerina girl, go go go!" And we rolled, reelin' and a - rockin' We was reelin' and a rockin' Rollin' till the break of dawn Well I looked at my watch, it was 10:05 Man, I didn't know if I was dead or alive And I was rollin', reelin' and rockin' We was reelin' and rockin' Rollin' till the break of dawn Well I looked at my watch, it was 10:26 But I'm gonna keep on dancing toll I get my kicks And we reeled, reelin' and rockin' We was reelin' and a rockin' Rollin' till the break of dawn Well I looked at my watch, it was 10:28 I gotta get my kicks before it get too late And we reeled, reelin' and rockin' We was reelin' and a rockin' Rollin' till the break of dawn Well I looked at my watch, it was 10:29 I had to hold her hand, she was still holding mine As we reeled, reelin' and a rockin' We was reelin' and a rockin' Rollin' till the break of dawn Well I looked at my watch and to my surprise I was dancing with a woman that was twice my size I was reelin', reelin' and rockin' I was reelin' and a rockin' Rollin' till the break of dawn Well I looked at my watch and it was time to go The bandleader said "We ain't playing no more" And we was reelin', reelin' and a rockin' We was reelin' and a rockin' Well 'till the break of dawn

Sometimes I will, then again I think I won't
Sometimes I do, then again I think I don't
Well I looked at my watch, it was 9:21
We was at a rock'n'roll dance having nothing but fun
And we rolled, reelin' and a rockin'
We was reelin' and rockin'
Rollin' till the break of dawn
Well I looked at my watch, it was 9:32
There's nothing I'd rather do than dance with you
And we rolled, reelin' and a rockin'
We was reelin' and rockin'
Well till the break of dawn
Well I looked at my watch, it was 9:43
And everytime I spinned she spinned with me
And we reeled, reelin' and rockin'
We was reelin' and a rockin'
Rollin' till the break of dawn
Well I looked at my watch, it was 9:54
I said, "Dance ballerina girl, go go go!"
And we rolled, reelin' and a - rockin'
We was reelin' and a rockin'
Rollin' till the break of dawn
Well I looked at my watch, it was 10:05
Man, I didn't know if I was dead or alive
And I was rollin', reelin' and rockin'
We was reelin' and rockin'
Rollin' till the break of dawn
Well I looked at my watch, it was 10:26
But I'm gonna keep on dancing toll I get my kicks
And we reeled, reelin' and rockin'
We was reelin' and a rockin'
Rollin' till the break of dawn
Well I looked at my watch, it was 10:28
I gotta get my kicks before it get too late
And we reeled, reelin' and rockin'
We was reelin' and a rockin'
Rollin' till the break of dawn
Well I looked at my watch, it was 10:29
I had to hold her hand, she was still holding mine
As we reeled, reelin' and a rockin'
We was reelin' and a rockin'
Rollin' till the break of dawn
Well I looked at my watch and to my surprise
I was dancing with a woman that was twice my size
I was reelin', reelin' and rockin'
I was reelin' and a rockin'
Rollin' till the break of dawn
Well I looked at my watch and it was time to go
The bandleader said "We ain't playing no more"
And we was reelin', reelin' and a rockin'
We was reelin' and a rockin'
Well 'till the break of dawn
Thanks!
