- I put the Early Ram out.
We have three lambing dates, the earlies, 1st, the mixed aged & 2ths, 2nd and the hoggets last. Its a good feeling to get the early ram out although I would have liked to have a little more feed for them I still think they will perform well.
I hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.
Thanks for all your great videos
My pleasure, thanks for watching and the support!
Hope you got your grass in 🤞. We got good rain yesterday thankfully
Oh you will be happy about that! Yes ours is in and is up now which will be great for later this autumn
Great show mate. Stock look well.
Cheers!
Interesting video 📹

Yeah same in Ireland all tagged with there own identification number all dead animals must go to fallen animal disposal €25 for a ewe collected in the yard.
Right, that’s an expense. Especially if you have the land to bury them yourself.
Or do they give you 25 euro for the ‘meat’ - ewe in the yard - so to speak !!!!! Jo Sheldon
Shame about the dead sheep, that's a bit of lost money. The rest of the sheep are looking good though. What a cheeky Ram! Just jumping back and forth while you try to catch him. I bet he puts out good lambs though!
It is a loss but the saying goes “where there is live stock there is dead stock”, it’s all part of life.
Thanks!
Cheeky for sure! I should have explained the long tailed rams are the teasers (vasectomised) so those boys won’t be producing any offspring.
What’s a teaser
It’s a ram that has been Vasectomised, it acts like a Ram before the Ram goes out to stimulate oestrus. It should be put out for a certain time so that the ewes are cycling at the same time to get more ewes in lamb in the first Cycle.
In my case I have put the teaser out for 17 days because a ewes cycle is 17 days.
More ewes in the first cycle means a tighter lambing and also more even lambs at weaning.
@@HillCountryFarmer thanks for the info that makes it clear now i suspected it was something like that
