"Big" G Gauge Trains at Big E: 2019 Amherst Railroad Hobby Show

- 2019 marks the first time in two long years visiting the Amherst Railroad Hobby Show in West Springfield, Massachusetts. This year was a lot like the last few, although attendance was on the slight upswing with over 21,000 guests combined between the two days. Just as with the previous time I exhibited at the 1:13.7-scale Western Wiscasset & Northern modular layout. So please enjoy the footage of this famous annual train show.

Train 1: M&N Forney #3 arrives and departs with a 4-car train at Royal Mills. Combine car broke down so passengers are using caboose instead.
Train 2: FS&K Mikado #22 leads a 5-car mixed train past Petticoat Junction as Train 1 arrives.
Train 3: WW&N Forney #11 leads a 4-car freight train to a stop at the dock.
Train 4: FS&K GE center cab diesel arrives at Sewell with a 4-car mixed train.

Train 5: 2-truck Shay runs light very slowly

Train 6: Rhaetian Ge 4/4 III and Ge 4/4 II lead 12-car tanker train (all LGB)
Train 7: Two Delaware & Hudson GP38's lead a 16-car coal train
Train 8: CSX SD45 leads 7-car mixed freight
Train 9: Two Erie Lackawanna PA-1's lead a 7-car train of smoothside streamliners.
Train 10: Colorado & Southern Mogul (by LGB) leads 5-car passenger train of Sierra cars.

Train 11: White Pass GE diesel leads a 4-car local freight.
Train 12: Pennsylvania Railroad 2-8-0 leads 9-car mixed freight.
Train 13: MRR Forney leads a 4-car passenger train.
Train 14: Union Pacific RS-3 leads 7-car local freight
Train 15: Stainz 0-4-0 and tender lead 6-car train with toys
Train 16: Great Northern GE 44-tonner diesel does a caboose hop
Train 17: Bachmann open-air streetcar
Train 18: J,L&DM GP38 leads 8-car local mixed freight
Train 19: Boston & Maine GP9 leads 9-car mixed freight
Train 20: Northern Pacific GP9 leads 3-car local freight
Train 21: Pennsylvania Railroad K-4s 4-6-2 (by AML / Accucraft) leads a 5-car passenger train of heavyweight cars
Train 22: Maine Central S-4 leads 6-car local mixed freight
Most footage for this video was taken Day 2, Sunday, January 27, 2019. Footage of trains 11 and 12 were taken Day 1, Saturday, January 26, 2019.

The 7/8n2 trains are excellent!
Thanks so much Tristan. I exhibited with that 7/8n2 layout. It was a lot of work but it's really appreciated by people who get photos and videos, or give such compliments.
@@ecoRfan I'm not used to seeing the big trains on an indoor style layout -- gardens, mostly. This looks like fun! :-) Hope it was well received at the show, and thanks for sharing!
Tristan Morrow for the most part G-gaugers like me run our trains on garden railways. For Springfield we exhibit them on modular layouts.
So yeah I can see what you mean: usually these trains run in gardens and backyards, not inside.
I was hoping to see a live steam loco, but no dice. They sell G scale kits in the UK.
Fire marshal wouldn't allow it... but I have other vids with lots of live steamers
