I’m a retired senior with loads of time to pursue learning guitar online. I’ve spent countless hours seeking out lessons to help me for whatever I’m working on. After a lot of thinking and listening , I’m of the opinion that you Dave are the best I’ve come across. THE VERY BEST. There are many great teachers online but you are for me the best teacher/instructor. I like your style better than Tommy Emmanuel. He’s an awesome man with a guitar. He’s an entertainer more than a teacher though. Thanks for all that you do. If you provided pdf’s for the lessons that would be so great.
Agree wholeheartedly. This strum lesson is very, very good. I'd love to hear more muted string strum demonstrations. For some reason that muted string demo in this video was what got me understanding the rhythm. I"m just a novice beginner (like Tim, retired with lots of time to learn!).
The perfect lesson for what it was intended to focus on. I look for what I need to focus on a specific technique or weakness I have. Great job and thank you!
Thank you so much! Your precise wording, description, and demonstration of each individual component of this technique (which I've been struggling with haphazardly for months, now) make perfect sense to me, and I'll no doubt have reason to rewatch as i continue learning. You've done a superb job of demystifying what's actually going on within the context of creating the forward-moving drive which does so much to make this song as compelling as it is. Wishing you all the best, and nothing but!
That's a really good lesson, even if these are simple techniques it is sometimes difficult for a beginner to get it sounding right and you have a really helpful way of explaining the details, it has helped me a lot as I was having trouble getting that strumming pattern right, I could do alternate bass easily enough but the strums were messy and now I can see how to improve, so I am very grateful. Thank you.
Some (one in particular!!) complain about the over emphasis on the Strumming rather than chord progressions! I'm NOT one of those because, although I've been playing for 3 years, I've struggled on the mechanics of strumming and my pick gets stuck on the strings. I liked this emphasis on the strumming - brilliant, thank you. Oh, by the way, chord progression part was good too!!
Bro you got that stuff drown so sweet and you can just as well articulate the details, making them easy to understand..... and the amount of ways you tell us your tricks is making it understandable for even my dumb as f. noob the first info what ever got me to think "HOW could I never see how 'easy' it is"?" (once explained right) THANK YOU
I searched your channel, but I didn’t find the electric Folsom lesson you mention here. Did you ever make that video? If so would you mind adding a link to it in the description please?
That's a Paige capo, there's a thumbscrew that centers behind the neck. Keeps the pressure even across all the strings, intonates better than a Keyser-style one-hand capo, and more convenient than a Shubb.
Always remember we must repent of our sins (sin is transgression The Law Of Yahuah The Father in Heaven. The Law are The Books: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy). We must repent of our sins and Have Belief On Yahusha The Messiah. HE Died and Rose three days later so that we can be forgiven of our sins! Come to HIM!
fair play man, most people just show you what to play rather then the fundamentals of the songs , keep up the great work

Tim Allen, I agree!

Good description.
I thought the strum lesson was outstanding

Along with a great teaching method, you are fun to watch and listen to. Thank you.

Great lesson. This was my homework assignment for next week's jam session and it help a lot 🙂👏
This is just what I struggle with and thanks for the rhythm focus 😎
This is amazing man, I'm so excited. my favorite country song
So awesome to have this level of instruction

Hey man, Thanks. Strumming a cool rhythm has always felt a bit stiff and pushed - so it just was hesitant and jumpy. This helped smooth that out.
Very helpful. I get frustrated with all the different takes from others. This seems the way to go.
Actual guru level instruction man. Sincere thanks :)
Great lesson. I've always had trouble with this type of strumming but now I have more knowledge to crack it. Great job.
Great intro to how to approach the song. Thank you
You can also play this song with the capo on the second fret and play the chords D, G and A7.

I managed to play this but can t do it fast like you yet. I like it!

Great tuut! Learned so much on the strumming technique.Great job NGG! Tank you.
I think this is an excellent lesson.
You are a fantastic teacher! Thank You.
I worked at Folsom Prison for 25 years and often hummed
that song as well as “I walk The Line”.
Were you in the laundry...;-)
Thanks so much! This is what I was missing.
Your an awesome teacher!
Really helpful ! Thanks !
Great video man, thanks a lot!
Great video lesson.👍
I'll be back in a month when I'm ready for this lesson LOL, still turbo basic over here :)
love it
Excellent.
Subbed! Just found your channel
I searched your channel, but I didn’t find the electric Folsom lesson you mention here. Did you ever make that video? If so would you mind adding a link to it in the description please?
I'm afraid that kinda fell off my radar! Thanks for the reminder, it's back on the list.
@@NashvilleGuitarGuru Did you ever make this? Thanks.
Great lesson
Brilliant
You are the balls! Thank you so much!
Good lesson thanks
Excellent! Many thanks..
Very thorough!!
Can you do it with a 12-string, or does it sound too "full" if you know what i mean?
It would definitely sound fuller, but I don't know that's a bad thing. Different sound than the Cash recording, but a great song works in any setting.
Holy shit that’s a nice guitar
Great lesson, thank you !!
The best, thank you!!!!
you're sitting on music row?? kewl
Can you please wright out the strumming pattern? difficult to follow
Essentially it's just bass-down-up, alternating between a low note and a brush strum. See if this helps: ua-cam.com/video/mAbup6giLZk/v-deo.html
@@NashvilleGuitarGuru Thank you so much for that link! That helped me a lot! Appreciate it!👍
19 minit and you never made clear the chord progression and it's what I needed most to start.
bob graham why the complaining? Just find it somewhere else...jeez
What type of capo you have on there?
That's a Paige capo, there's a thumbscrew that centers behind the neck. Keeps the pressure even across all the strings, intonates better than a Keyser-style one-hand capo, and more convenient than a Shubb.
My pick keeps slipping no matter what I do argh
Thank you, Dave.
