What's especially interesting to me is how completely Revelation chapters four and five undermine basic dispensationalist claims, such as those of John Hagee, when compared with the opening statement of the book. As you've pointed out, the word “revelation” refers to “unveiling” or “revealing” something. The book begins by telling us that an “unveiling” is given to Christ by God to be shown to John and conferred to those to whom John would write. At the beginning of chapter 4, Christ tells John to “come up here.” Why? Because “I will show you what must take place after these things.” We then see John’s vision of heaven, a vision in which God gives a book to Christ. Christ then opens the book, “unveiling” or “revealing” its contents, and John is told to write what he sees. Revelation 4 and 5 depict the setting of the revelation and the ceremony that surrounds its giving, but they are not part of the revelation itself. The author never intended this scene to be taken as a future event. He's claiming that it occurred in his own time. Thus, the supposed future events begin with chapter 6, not in chapter 4, as Hagee and others teach. This is merely "the beginning of sorrows" when it comes to what dispensationalists teach about Revelation, but I think it's a good place from which to begin unraveling their claims.
If I'm not mistaken it was well before the British takeover of Palestine/Israel that the Jews were allowed to return and pray at the wall. The Ottomans passed the Edict of Toleration in 1844, the same year William Miller suggested Christ would return, which allowed people from other religions to enter Ottoman controlled Palestine/Israel. One suggestion, after this series of lectures is completed: Do a study of the use of bible prophecy in certain major motion pictures, such as "THE OMEN" (and its sequels); "THE RAPTURE" (1991); "THE SEVENTH SIGN" (1988); etc. That last film, starring Demi Moore, was a rather thought-provoking film addressing the tropes of bible prophecy fulfillment. I'd be interested in hearing Dr. Tabor's thoughts on these types of movies -- especially the latter one.

Francis is number 112 on this list, and his prediction is: "In psecutione. extrema S.R.E. sedebit." Which translates as: "He will reign in the final persecution. of the Holy Roman Church." Wion's list predicts that the pope who follows Francis will be the last and will be St. Peter.

Francis is the last Roman pontiff, who shall die when Rome is destroyed by an earthquake after being killed accidentally by a soldier, according to the 3rd Secret of Fatima. What happened was that in 1624 Fr.Thomas Messingham included Wion's list in his history of the Irish saints (FLORILEGIUM INSULAE SANCTORUM.) However, in so doing, he combined the last two predictions into just one. Every analyst uses Messingham's version. It makes no sense, but that is what they do. It is easy to find the last page of Wion's original list and see the last two predictions which are clearly seperate paragraphs. WIKI includes it and then goes on to wrongly state that the list contains only 112 predictions. According to the prediction for Francis, some human caused disaster will befall the Catholic Church during his reign. The prediction for the next and final pope indicates that "the city of the seven hills will be destroyed" (meaning the earth) and "the terrible Judge will judge his people" (meaning judgement day.) Where you get the idea that Rome will be destroyed by an earthquake is beyond me. the prophecy does not say that or that any pope will be accidentally killed. @@michaelbindner9883
Another “key biblical text” that I believe belongs on your list is “the song of Moses”, or Deuteronomy 32. Not only is it referenced in the text of the apocalypse, but the kingdoms of the world becoming the kingdoms of YHWY is the opposite of what is recorded as happening at Babel, as referenced in the Deut.32 “song” - the allotment to the nations to other divine beings (sons of God), Israel bring YHWY”s people. And of course, Deut 32 is a prophecy of Israel at the time of the end. Particularly the time when YHWY will avenge the blood of his servants and punish a perverse generation, holding them accountable for all the blood shed upon earth - a theme that runs heavily through Matt 23,24, and the book of revelation.

I was raised a Jehovah's Witness. We used to know the 70 weeks calculation from the back of our heads because for Witnesses, the weeks ended at 1914, when "the time of the end" began. Of course that's the interpretation that came after their prediction that the end was going to actually happen in 1914 failed. Since them, there has been several iterations of their interpretation of real world events ahead of 1914 as being predicted in figurative terms by the books of Daniel and Apocalypse, while some are supposed to happen in the near future. For example, for a while, they believed that "Babylon" had already fell, with some convoluted interpretation. The Beast for them is the UN. It died once when the League of Nations ended, but got "resurrected" when the UN was created. But their interpretations of these are constantly changing, of course. I personally have no issue with whacky interpretations of the bible, but it saddens and worries me that a lot of real world geopolitics is defined by american evangelical christians who believe they have a mission given by god to bring the end (as they understand it to be) within our lifetimes. Ironically, with so many nukes involved, this might really happen one way or the other.

Preterist don't understand that many prophecies are repeated. What WAS, what IS, what is TO COME from Johns viewpoint of the 1st century. Matthew 24 clearly states it was written for Judah (let the reader understand). It is repeated again in the 3rd day (Hosea 6:2-3) for the end of our age with the addition of much of Revelation. For the final gathering of the lost sheep and the purification of the virgin gentile bride of Zion.

After 40 years of indepth study of Bible prophecy, I have come to the conclusion that all of the known passages on gathering/Rapture refer to Post-trib. However, I found another Rapture that is not obvious in Revelation that is only of the Bride, not the entire church, and is Pre-Wrath.

Matthew 24 clearly states it was written for Judah (let the reader understand). It is repeated again in the 3rd day (Hosea 6:2-3) for the end of our age with the addition of much of Revelation. For the final gathering of the lost sheep and the purification of the virgin gentile bride of Zion.

After 40 years of indepth study of Bible prophecy, I have come to the conclusion that all of the known passages on gathering/Rapture refer to Post-trib. However, I found another Rapture that is not obvious in Revelation that is only of the Bride, not the entire church, and is Pre-Wrath.
This teaching misses out afew major points! Firstly Jewish eschatology is non linear but multiply concurrent. Sorry James Tabor but you have the mind of a mere man and not that of God.
Secondly if you want to pick apart. a Christian leader pick one who speaks greek who can argue with your interpretations from the Original Koine Greek.
Thirdly the comet Aphosis (Wormwood?) is currently hurtling towards earth at 45,000 mph. If that - or it’s crash landing on Friday April 13 2029 - is not the Tribulation then i’m not sure what is.
