    I like this video, my father used to say the whole point of a machine shop was to spend hours making stuff that would have been cheaper to buy pre made. However I still like to do it when I can.

      I've been a machinist all of my life and often get this reply when I show a finished product. "Hmm, I thought that would have been made in a factory!" Well, uh duh, what they think a machine shop is?

    Внутреннюю резьбу, можно делать на токарном станке,установив в заднюю бабку,сверильный патрон.
    Наружную резьбу,делают плашкой ,поджав плашкодержатель,задней бабкой.
    Конус,тоже делают резцом,повернув резцедержатель,по шкале,на нужный угол.
    Или,совмещением вручную двух подач резца,
    Или, изготовив фасонный резец нужной формы.
    Всех благ.

    Put a 1/4" hex bit on the driving end and use a cordless screwdriver with clutch to tighten it quickly

      Not a machine shop. I bought all the tools myself for my home use. I do not do any machine work professionally. It is just a hobby.

    This is me running out to my scrap bin, (I just scrapped out a dozen computer towers...) removing the CD-ROM Drives, tossing them in a bucket to salvage the pins later.
    Nice job! Thanks for posting the 'instructables', I was wondering what dimensions you used.
    Going to fab a few to give a Christmas presents.

    I paid $80 dollars for the original clamptite and I never use it . I use others I made my self.

      You could do this project with a drill press, cordless drill, a bench vise and an angle grinder... and maybe a cheap arc welder if you can’t start with the correct size bar and tube. The lathe just makes it easier and cleaner results. *edit I meant to say this project is my favorite so far because of the pin you installed by the tip, but it looks great and very easy to use. Nicely done sir

    hey nice replica build, with your capacity and tools to improve upon someone else's design, you should add a small motor to it to help with the turning, maybe add a 12v battery and wireless remote control so all you need to do is push a button?! or maybe blutooth option to listen to the radio while you are at it lol

      There are things that don't need to be further improved one example is a simple device like this since automation would make it bulky and annoying to use!

      You could grind the tip and handle with an angle grinder. You can even insert a piece in a drill, spin it and grind it.

    The tool being made here is very time consuming, and if you don’t have the right tools to make it your screwed. You can buy said tool for around 30 dollars which saves time and money.

      More like using 2500$ of machines which last tens of years which I can use to make hundreds of different tools like this and learn something new with each one :) Knowledge is priceless.

      Ha ! Nother fella not an origional thought in his head .you'd think if you were going to spend the whole day copying someone else's patent you might at least make an improvement of your own on same . Could have bought one for 25 bucks at a show .
      Would've saved yourself a lot of time and money .
