I really wish the first round of the bracket could get a redo with drivers lofted up to get Matt's best which was on display in subsequent rounds.
I bought the Z 190. Wonderful. Gave it to a mate turning 50. Bought the Z220. A wee too airy for me but a great driver. Gave it to my Godson. He smashed 8 balls over 240 yards. Not yet hcp as he just started to learn a month ago.
Thanks for including Mizuno in your driver reviews. I like their products.
I've been waiting for this one! I've already been fitted and got the Z in driver, 3 wood and 3H. I can't sing their praises more. Just wow.
I just picked up last year's STX220 - demo club.
Matt's like "I kinda like this thing!" Which was 100% my reaction, even with last year's model.
I went with STZ220 last year in my fitting and it's been a great club for me. For me, it was right there with the other top sticks from last year so it was an easy decision to spend $150 less and get a club I really liked to hit. I absolutely love the look of it. I didn't get to hit many shafts in it so I'd love to get to a fitter and try a bunch of shafts in the new STZ & STX. Really want to give that new STX a try as about the only thing I don't love about my current STZ is at times it doesn't spin enough for me personally and the ball seems to fall out of the air a bit on me.
The best 2023 driver value is the 2022 Mizuno STZ, my local golf shop was clearing them out for $225 with Tensei AV 65 blue shafts. I demo-ed to bag as a “travel” driver, it took my TSr3 out of the bag, which cost 4x as much.
I game the STX 230 it’s a absolute beast love it
I have st190. New driver will be either mizuno again or tsr2. Have you compared the 2?
@@gregwilliams2066 yes tried all the big names, but the Mizuno came out on top for me in forgiveness and all round numbers
two rounds with the St-x 230 very impressed with performance so far, straight and forgiving
love the videos guys keep it up !!
My Stealth is set to heel weighting and its been a game changer. I will never go back to a neutral weight again. I love taking the right out and having more shape
Just got fit for the Z in Calgary at TXG by David. Waiting patiently for it to arrive 😊
Im going for a fitting @ Club Champion this weekend ill try the StX out
Good video. It’s interesting how the specific day effects performance. In the brackets the average drive with stz was 270 carry, total 285ish. Today is 30 plus yards farther!
It’s the different software used
Still playing my st190 and honestly I don’t think I’ll be upgrading anytime soon. Id still like to see the st190 vs this just to see if they have really improved that much. I’ve hit my friends stealth and I hit mine further and more controlled but that could just be because I’m used to my driver.
I have progressed from STX, STX220 to STX230 9.5 and STZ230 3 wood and 5 wood. Mizuno is as good as anything out there.
And yet their woods get virtually no recognition in the States. My local golf store literally only carry just a few mizuno drivers. They dont sell worth a fuck and its a god damn shame. Everybody over here is just fucking *glued* to taylormade and callaway. But at least i gave em a chance. The STZ 230 looks awesome and i actually just had one ordered.
@@ryze9153 that is an excellent driver, looks good, sounds good and performs!
When the club reviews are complete, would love to see a review on the new Kirkland V3 ball! I’ve heard good things on spin numbers!
As mentioned earlier, MGS craps on Mizuno drivers in its Most Wanted tests (especially the ST-X). TXG seems to join the majority of reviewers who liked it.
Much higher spin than previous mizuno drivers.
Noticed on other channels too.
Awsome, done a TSR2 fitting will go back and have a go with these.
How did the two compare?
I still use the ST190 🙌
For value drivers please test the Haywood ! Do it for Canada
I picked up the Cobra LTDx LS and I think you should do a video on this vs last year yardages. Like a bracket of this year vs last year
The “Z” (10.5 head) finished 2nd in my recent driver fitting behind the Stealth 2 HD(10.5 head). Now playing the “2 HD” for a Month+, it’s been everything I was looking for, a game changer literally. That being said after watching this I wonder how the “X” would be in a 12* in order to present a higher dynamic loft if needed it. I really liked hitters the “Z” but I should leave well enough alone, but…😂
I love you guys, your content and service for fitting. But the best value of 2023 is last years' driver. Or even better two years ago
Wish you guys would have turned the loft up on the fade biased head and down on the draw biased and see what happened.
I would love to see a in depth review of the jpx line especially the forged, tour, and hm pro
fit my buddy into one he loves it
They might have one but a video on how to dissect your shots from a driver and look to see if it's an equipment and or mechanics issue would be interesting. For example, after gaining speed my ts2 w/hzurdus black shaft is causing some ballooning. Trying to solve this one currently
Truly misfit length, loft, and/or lie are in my mind the only real equipment issues, every thing else you can change with mechanics. Really just a question of if you should or want to - for example you could probably make some swing tweaks to hit with a greater angle of attack and deliver less loft to combat excessive spin/ballooning, but if you’re finding the middle of the face a lot and happy with speed then a well fit driver could help you similarly combat excessive spin. It just boils down to how to approach the issue rather than the issue having a specific solution that is equipment or mechanics.
Tried turning down the loft?
In my opinion, the Wilson dynapower ist best value you can buy.
I’m glad they’ve gone to a 2 year release cycle. I feel that they were a little disingenuous with what seemed like a new driver every 6 months with each one being ‘the best ever’. Not what I wanted to see from my favourite golf brand.
was needed to get the drivers back on Tour again. We’d probably lost half a step and didn’t have enough drivers on Tour. Now we’re back to where we should be and all the Mizuno contracted players are back on driver. Wouldn’t have happened if we’d not sped the cycle back up for a short burst,
@@mizunogolf1906 it’s pretty unreal to get this kind of transparency. R&D is hard in a regulated space but even harder when you need to earn a spot within your staff players comfort zone.
Performing best is one step but busting a bias/preference is another.
@@mizunogolf1906 and what about Joe Public whom bought the clubs only to find a ‘newer and better’ club released very soon after? Getting drivers on tour must be important to Mizuno but surely not to the detriment of your customers. It’s sorted now and that’s great.
I love that Mizuno responded and took a stance, that's pretty impressive.
@@FF04RDF You could say that just as much with taylormade (especially!), callaway, Cobra and the like. They're like ai reproductions of the same painting. Stealth 2 is still the M6 with a couple extra panels of carbon fiber.
In the bracket it was a bad day of testing so I can see giving Mizuno another review....
Playable spin is what is needed!
I just got the stx230 and I'm struggling to get the distance out of it compared to the stz220
I’m a lefty who is playing STZ230 driver 3W 3H jpx923 5-9 pw, gw and T24 56,58,60
It looks like the Z could have benefited from being set to 0.5 to 1 degrees upright.
From what I've heard a lot of their tour pros have gone into the STX
Looks like Matt’s love affair with 10.5 static loft continues.
Hey Ian! It's "Zed".
Depends if you’re using American English or British English.
@@ianfrasergolf You're in Canada right? And you're not an American then I'd go with the correct way Ian. Zed.
Have they not released a driver every year? STZ-220 in 2022 and STZ-230 in 2023?
Yes but 230 will be current throughout 23/24.
Expect to see its replacement September 24
it's 2 years interval for them. something I think every brands should follow suit but hey money wins.
I bought the 230x off of ebay since it was half-priced & had seen good reviews. Worst driver I've ever hit.
I love the blue drivers and love that I got a blue ST-Z 220 at a reasonable price to replace my ST-180. It's a beast too 🩵
I'm here because they are so cheap already, sub $200...

All club tests are...
Feel like we are doing this just to do it. Minzuno doesn't get it done, it's not being gamed by these guys, not showing strong results in the TXG bracket challenge, or even MyGolfSpy reviews. It is just not a top tier driver, so they have a long way to go!
Keith Mitchell uses it and he's currently leading the tour in strokes gained total driving
No chance Keith Mitchell could top the PGA Tour driving stats without a very good driver. He’s up against some pretty competition.
