Indeed an honest review 😊I found these at Michaels without even knowing they existed, and I was so excited… but then I tried them out and was a bit heartbroken. You’ll be glad to know that the price has changed a lot, so I think they heard you, so thanks! After playing around with them a little it’s getting better (I’m far from being a marker expert, but I am entusiasta). And I just wanted to say that I love your comprehensive pen checklist ❤️❤️❤️
I wish I had waited for your review! I got these when Tombow first announced them and even though there was a discount, you're right it's not worth the money :'(. Thank you for the tip about the interesting blending techniques, I'll be trying that out!
Another thing, ohuhu has more cheaper markers with a brushnip. And I have brushpens in our kind of dollarstore where you have brushnip alcohol markers 3 for 1 euro... and they are good, you can refill them with the copic refills and use the brushnip of copic to... so at the end... you have copics 😂😂😂
They are much cheaper now. Plus water fades so far. Two years in a room that gets sun and it looks like crap. So if someone commissioned a piece and it faded that fast, I would think they'd be pretty pissed off.
Funny you mentioned using it on canvas, that's what I bought them for, wth! Hoped to use them to outline acrylic paintings. Ugh. Heck yeah, great review. First of my Tombow product, What would you best suggest for canvas? Subscriber from NW Florida
To be fair, decent alcohol based markers are usually at this pricepoint. They are just more expensive to make as well. :) Even if you look at tombows' waterbased markers, they are in a higher pricepoint compared to other brands. So the price for these pens does make sense.
Amanda, thank you this was very helpful. I'm hoping you can answer a question about the blending tool/marker. I purchased the blue tone Tombow ABT Pro Alcohol based markers (set of 5) and the blending tool, (hoping to draw a blue sky with clouds). The blending tool did absolutely nothing, am I missing something? I drew with a darker blue, and then lighter, and then lighter again, and then used the blending tool, and nothing.
Alcohol marker blenders aren’t really designed to blend multiple colors together. They work best as a primer, so basically you go over your area with the blender then lay your color down on top. You can use them to lift some of the marker if you make small mistakes, and to blend light colors to white. If you’re trying to blend a dark color to light, you need a midtone to bridge the gap. So lay down your dark, blend out with your mid tone, and then bring in your light tone.
Holy cow! That’s nuts! Plus I really don’t see much use for that chisel tip! If there was a brush tip on both ends then ok, maybe....this is for people who don’t know what to do with their money! Lol!
I've looked into those and unfortunately I can't get those over here! Which is a shame because they've been requested a lot so I feel like I'm missing out!
Thank you so much for reviewing these. I have the water based and wasn’t sure if it was worth it to purchase these. Also, not sure if you have used the Karin brush markers but I would love to see a review on those!
Hi. Random question. I am not a beginner nor pro in calligraphy. I am planning to buy a brushpen. I just wanted to ask which is better, Koi brushpen or Karin brushpen? Also does karin brushpen fray easily?
Hi😊. I tried Karin brush markers, and they are fantastic. I have had them for more than 1 year and they haven't frayed yet... They are very durable, and the ink is very vibrant. The colors are beautiful! I hope this is helpful❤👍
I got this set for $15. 😅 No way in hell would I have gotten it for any more than $25, max. If I’m forking out $6+ for a single marker, I’m buying Copic. Either way, I use these as an addition to mixed media art (mainly watercolor), so they do the job well. But damn, Tombow is nuts if they think anyone is gonna fork out $70 for twelve pens when that same price could buy them Copics.
"I just can't get over the price of these pens. Is that just me?" Uhhh .. NO! LOL .. I've seen these around and I wanted to try them, but at that price point, I'm not a fan.

Thank you so much for watching Adrienne! xo
OMG, $6 a pop 😱 !!! Good that you got them for free, wouldn't want you breaking the bank for us 😅, love this series!
Thank you so much for watching and for your support Vivian! xo
Things have changed so much 😂
They are now $10-14 for a set of 12
You could have used the price as a reference for how to store them...because once I heard that I nearly passed out...
😂Love that!
Michaels has them, where you can get a pack for half the price, using a coupon.

Definitely give the blending a try, it's a lot of fun to play around with. One of the best things about alcohol-based markers!

Can you review the Artline Stix Brush Marker ? 😍😍😍😊😊😊
Hi Amanda! I wondered if you have already reviewed Copic Brush Markers? They are alcohol based as well but...they are expensive as well 🙂
They are much cheaper now.
Plus water fades so far. Two years in a room that gets sun and it looks like crap.

Lol I laughed so much in only the first five minutes! So funny! Awesome review as well! Very comprehensive and informative :) Thanks!

But those price comparable alcohol markers are refillable.
