I can only imagine how accurate those speakers sound when paired with the right gear and material. That's a set-up that only a special few in the "Caviar Class" can afford. Maybe there is a DIY way to achieve something close for those of us without ultra deep pockets. I hope you fine folks at HTE keep giving us something to strive for and the tech tips you have so generously been helping us with. Thank you and all the very best.
Hi Kevin thanks so much for following our videos and commenting. While it’s nice to “Top Gear” the high end stuff we are always conscious that not everyone can afford these things. However I do believe there are DIY kits of line source speakers that are in effect not dissimilar. I’ll see if we can dig that info up and present that too..
@@HomeTheatreEngineering Andrew, Thanks so much for also looking out for the common man. Sure the real big money in business is selling/installing for those who, somehow, have too much money. But, there is so many regular humble families that would like a small piece of "luxury" also. The wisdom that you and many others here on UA-cam and in forums offer us is priceless to us. I, like so many others, are doing the best we can on a small budget and with your help like yours we can get our systems performing well. I hope to have the education and experience to someday be able to help folks build/tune/calibrate their systems into something to be proud of. Thanks again for everything and please have a great safe day, Kevin
He said 'Martin Logan'. Yes, their 'XW' series have been out for some time now. I have one of their electrostatics from the Masterpiece series. LOVE that it is a line source AND dipole at the same time. (O: Thanks for pointing out the advantages of this type of speaker design here in your video presentation.
I not long ago heard a demo of a Wisdom Audio speakers theater and it was probably the best I’ve ever heard. Made me wish I had the money to immediately buy them.😂
@@HomeTheatreEngineering And Imaging on Line Arrays is not that great specially when compared to even mediocre Point source speakers and if one goes high end stuff then the difference is more obvious. I only like the line arrays which still have directive wave guide to limit the horizontal dispersion which makes them bit more zonal but then still not got the depth. I guess that is the physical limitation we need to accept.
Love your videos. Wisdom is HIGH on my list of potential theater speakers (Perlisten is giving them a run right now though). Happy to see you guys finally getting some time to publish more content.
Thanks for another great video. I must say i consider your channel to be among the very best (if not the best)! It's unfortunate I live on the other side of the world (Sweden) otherwise I would have visited your fantastic Wisdom demo theater. Anyway, just wanted to say I have been running L8i as LCR for a while now and it is a really great speaker. Keep up the good work guys!
Thanks you so much for your kind words. We really appreciate the support. No pressure but we use all the help we can get so do check out out Patreon page at www.patreon.com/HomeTheatreEngineering and also please suggest any videos you would like to see. Thank you once again.
We thought about it. But playing these speakers from a 24 channel system with full dynamic range into a UA-cam video that is compressed and generally played back on a phone, tablet or TV is not in any way going to represent the performance nor the physical attributes of these speakers. After all, the only way to experience line source is…. on line source speakers! Anyone who thinks that videoing a screen or recording a speaker for playback on UA-cam is indicative of its actual performance especially when the technologies are in no way comparable or similar is not really understanding what is being discussed. We are very open to suggestions. How would you suggest we go about this? Finally our Australian showrooms are open by appointment and you are most welcome and Wisdom Audio have demonstration rooms in US and UK for those wishing to experience this first hand.
Agree totally with the H.T.E guys about this as a medium to judge performance. Recently we witnessed some video images doctored on social media take them look better than they were...so agree with the guys...best to go see for yourself 🙂
These marketing graphics from the manufacturers are really ridiculous. Comparing a line source with a point source in this way is simply ridiculous. I don't want to talk bad about the product. It's just that these oversimplified marketing graphics are crappy.
I think your comment needs more detail - what specifically are you saying is ridiculous. Yes the designs are simplified but there is massive difference between the way these speakers perform. We have built our own rooms and many others and we have measured and monitored the difference in performance. So overall we stand by the different properties of these in comparison with point source speakers
So….you can ONLY get immersive sound with line source speakers? (quoting you) And if you have a room with multiple rows, good sound “not gonna happen”? (quoting you) And there’s a difference between a line array (as used at concerts/auditoriums) and a line source (some, not all, of Wisdom Audio’s models). Line arrays are most often stacked point source speakers. This video felt bizarrely….sponsored.
Hi Scott. Nope not sponsored at all we paid in full for everything in that room. Re the quotes I will have to review them in detail but I would stand by them depending on context. I would say yes to first first if you want as close as possible to matching spl in every seat. And regarding the second also true if you consider good sound being as close as possible to even spl in all seats and access to each discreet channel. And yes, there is a difference between the common definitions of line arrays and line sources. But a line array that is over a certain dimension is also a line source and a line source is constructed from a line array of speakers, so …… and yes not all of wisdoms speakers are line source. Some are point source and any line source advantages apply to all line source brands.. Hope this helps. We have NEVER ever been sponsored paid nor received free product. I have visited facilities such as Krix and Wisdom at their expense. For transparency this had not happened nor had been offered nor proposed when we shot these videos.. (krix yes, wisdom no).

As high end as they are, I will forever be a Krix man just because they are a great Australian company not to mention top quality sound
Can’t argue with that !

Great presentation guys 😎
Give me a call and come and check our showrooms and have a coffee Dave
So, where is the listening part of what you're talking about? 10:55 minutes of talk about how these speakers work but i will never hear any of "it"...
