Important to mention: Volo's togepi appears at the end of the event running implying that he is already in pasio
Rei and Lucas are two different characters. In the game itself, Rei and Lucas have different models with different heights, face models, and different voices. It is clear that Rei is not meant to be the same character as Lucas or a different version of Lucas.
However, Rei is clearly related to the Sinnoh protagonist. He could be a distant cousin of Lucas and Dawn, or even be their future child. Rei is clearly his real name, because even when Ingo lost his memory, he still remember his name. Plus in the beginning of Legends, Arceus ask for the player's name before they get sent back in time. Which means the name the player is referred to throughout the game, is their real name.
It's a nice fan theory that the protagonist of the Sinnoh games (or the Professor's assistant) is the protagonist of Legends: Arceus, but clearly they aren't meant to be the same character according to the Pokémon company.
The most obvious explanation that for some reason nobody seems to acknowledge is that Rei is just some random dude from the present with no prior relation to Lucas, who was stuck in the past forever (…barring this obviously non-canon appearance in Pokémon Masters) and eventually became Lucas’ ancestor. Zero time paradoxes required. He doesn’t look like Lucas, Lucas looks like HIM.

@@koo2463it's definitely NOT a guy from the real world, because Rei remembers he was originally a trainer in his time. It is mostly likely a counterpart of Lucas in an alternate universe (or possibly just an older Lucas since Rei did feel the world is very similar to his, but not the same). I mean Red and Ash are in the same game.
Well considering masters applies the different versions of games such as Cyrus being specifically from Pearl and not recognizing Cynthias claims of him using dialga and giratina as well. Rei can still be Lucas but from Platinum, especially since Arceus definitely connects to platinum and not diamond and pearl which clearly the dawn and Lucas from masters are from those games and not platinum. There's just no way Rei isn't straight up Lucas. He's from the future, he has no memories, other characters like Ingo are also there and he's definitely the same one. Rei being from the present, looking exactly like Lucas and NOT being Lucas doesn't make any sense. I'm pretty sure Rei is just from the future of the platinum timeline, that's why his model is taller and a little different looking, he's an older teenager now instead of the 10-12 year old Lucas was in diamond and pearl.
At the very end of the event, we see the very top of Togepi run behind a pillar
So Volo might already be in Pasio actually
This pretty much proves that Rei and Akari are not the same as Dawn and Lucas from Diamond and Pearl.

Rei’s reaction to meeting Cynthia was identical to mine (I’ve never played a Sinnoh game other than Legends). Very excited for when Volo gets added, since he was my favorite character from that game.
My headcanon has always been that Rei/Akari as the Player Character has nothing to do with Lucas/Dawn. They just happen to look like each other. Or they’re cousins, like how Oak and Alolan Oak are identical except for skin tone.

I feel like Rei could be from the BDSP world while Lucas is from the DPP world. The Hideaways are like the Hisui lands.
In BDSP you can enter Chambers in the Ramanas Park with slates, even the Distortion Room with a Level 100 Shadowtina.
Or maybe Rei is Dawn's descendant while Akari is Lucas's ancestor if they are all from one shared timeline.
Rei gets Dawn's protag powers while Lucas inherited his research skills from Prof Laventon's once assistant.
It's also worth noting Rei chose Rowlet, and as we all know, Alola and Sinnoh are highly connected with space-time plots.
If we see Volo, maybe he'll get a Shiny Giratina. Or maybe a Heatran as a surprise factor. Maybe Cogita gets Enamorus.
Funny enough I got Akari on my first x10 summon too. And I'm still having trouble getting Rei.

I just realized that if Rei ever gets a sygna suit variant, they could actually give him Arceus as a partner pokemon, since we now know Rei is the amnesiac time traveler that Arceus keeps in touch to ensure the universe isn't thrown into jeopardy. Having these two together as a duo could also reference the endgame of Legends Arceus where Arceus lends aid to the player as a completionist reward for finishing the pokedex. This would be perfect if Rei and Volo are to clash with each other once more.
6:55-Imagine RSE and ORAS versions of Maxie and Archie? (For gym leaders and elite four they could be called classic outfits?)
I kinda wonder what happens if someone in the past marries and starts a family with someone in a different time.
Could dialga or celebi or even arcues just return them home though? Imagine if Arceus will be available one day in this.

I don't personally believe that Akari/Rei is just Dawn/Lucas from the future that gets sent back. I actually think they are a completely seperate person, maybe even from Galar as they do wear a shirt from Galar, who are sent back in time to Hisui and ends up staying, eventually becoming the ancestor of Dawn/Lucas.
Rei shirt is from is from Kalos if you pick the boy and go into the first clothes shop, the one that only sells hats and buttons and go into the changing room. You will see that you get a second shirt. And this one is the one that Rei has

Pokemon Masters is such an underrated game story and music wise. Too bad it's kinda boring game-play wise.
It’s really annoying that the freemium phone game has voice acting before the mainline game.
Rei isnt mentioning Volo by name, he felt horror and dread when Cynthia and Giratina appeared, and he got Volo flashbacks at that same moment… its all connecting together

The possibility of Ingo interacting with a temporally displaced version of him is probably the most wacky yet hype thing this game could do for me (outside of Wallace in the Trainer Lodge (I love Wallace))
Either that, or the Sneasler ends up on Pasio going ballistic until she encounters Ingo and Emmet.

One thing that I find disturbing is that the event ends with a glimpse of a Togepi’s head. Does this mean that Volo somehow managed to find his way to the present?

I’m certainly excited for Volo. Volo was a nice addition to Pokémon’s roster in villains. And for a while it’s just been Giovanni being the big bad and manipulating all other evil groups. But Volo? If they have the sense to do him Justice, I want to see him pull the wool over Giovanni’s eyes where he can even outsmart him. Which might be the case since recently, Giovanni is now a trainer you can have in the Trainer Lodge. Weird for certain. But that might mean he might not be the main villain for this upcoming arc.
I do kinda like how RR Giovanni is portrayed in Masters. Rather than being an active threat, he uses more pragmatic methods to gain power, like offering Mewtwo the chance to run wild or attempting an alliance with the newly appointed leader of Team Break. When the latter refuses, he shows (and tells, so he can rub salt in the wound) just how effective his methods are by persuading Hoopa Unbound instead and by extension Team Break's endless supply of legendaries and also Team Break itself, who fights for the strongest side. As a result, his power comes from his deals while still being a very effective trainer.
He is a businessman making the most logical and well thought out decisions, to be shrewd and be one step ahead of the competition. A villain but a mafia boss and businessman first.
At first I suspected that the item Rei found in the ruins is somehow connected to the Griseous Core (or IS the Griceous Core) that's why Giratina seems to be getting restless.
However, there's also a weird teaser in the game where you can randomly find an item called Mysterious Stone in the trainer lodge expeditions. It might be the same kind of stone that Rei found in the ruins. So it's implied that there's multiples of these strange items.
i think theres also a teaser about volo because in the last part of the cutscene a pokemon runs by the screen fast and it looks like a togepi

Following the final cutscene with Rei and Cynthia in the ruins, there’s a brief shot of something small running behind a fallen pillar. Wasn’t sure what it was, but with all the Volo hints I think it might have actually been his Togepi (Idk why he’d have another Togepi though considering he evolved one into Togekiss for the final fight, so maybe it’s a different one?)
So maybe they’ll introduce him similarly as to how they did in legends, with him seeming to be the happy and supportive character until he is caught or he decides to strike. Either way, I’m excited!

It’s possible he only used that Togepi for the first fight.
My theory was that since the Pokémon that appeared was a togepi, but the final battle against Volo did actually happen (meaning that he had togekiss), it could be that the Volo that comes to Passio is actually from before the final battle between him and the protagonist (maybe even before the events of PLA), so it would be a friendlier version of the character (like they did with chairman Rose)

The first time I saw Giovanni available in the Trainer's Lodge , it was like the biggest jumpscare of my life. But I guess it's the game's way of saying, "Keep your friends close but your enemies closer". Besides, if I were to ever to go on a villain arc, I knew who I would turn to.

Is it safe to assume that you've used up all your gems and you still didn't get Rei and Hisuian Decidueye?
You should always save up at least 36600 gems in reaching the point threshold to guarantee a character you want.
As a side note, since it's a Togepi running around the ruins means that it's the same situation that Chairman Rose had in his villain arc.
Rose & Oleana were brought to Pasio from a time before they enacted the Darkest Day, while the Galar protagonists recall that the Chairman got arrested. So either Rose & Oleana are lying and they got bailed out of jail, or there's some time displacement happening in Pasio thanks to Hoopa and the various Legendaries on the island. (I have to remind everyone that Elio and Selene are in the game while Red & Blue are in their prime. The Alolan protagonist recognize the Kantonian Gym Leaders and E4 from their dialogue, but make no mention of the two Champions.)
The fact that it's Togepi and not a Togekiss shows that we'll meet Merchant Volo and not the Volo that Rei remembers.

Honestly I’m kind of glad that the Protagonist of Legends Arceus has amnesia. Like imagine how heartbreaking it must be if you remember all the families, friends, and Pokémon you had in your old life being completely taken away from you and now you must live in a world where you don’t know anybody, you treated like a outcast, and living in a world where Pokémon are even more hostile towards you. Honestly I would wish I had my memories erased too if that happened to me.
That would overwhelm ANY human to despair or worse… that WOULD suck a lot! So yeah I’m glad too- painful at first but it’ll save you even more pain down the line!
Now imagine meeting someone who looks exactly like you and claims that he comes from the future of the place where you were stranded implying it is your destiny to settle down and never make it back home.

Palina and Iscan relationship is kinda similar in a way to Sonia and Nessa's friendship (as Palina seems like sonias ancestor and Iscan as Nessa's)

Rei and Akari are just the older versions of Lucas and Dawn from an alternate timeline/universe. In a way, Legend Arceus is a pseudo sequel to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.

So he’s not the one that looks like Lucas - Lucas looks like HIM, by virtue of being his descendant. No time paradoxes or alternate universes required.
This is an explanation I can actually get behind, I was never a fan of Rei and Lucas (and by extension, Dawn and Akari if the latter is chosen as the protagonist ) being the same person theory. Rei becoming Lucas’s ancestor feels more straightforward.

you know, the weirdest thing about the legends arceus games is the implication that you became your own ancestor... by getting with your ancestor.😂😅 in the game, you are still dawn/ lucas (depending on whether you chose boy or girl), the opposite character from the past rei/ akari (again, depending on whether you chose boy or girl) is your ancestor. since you never go back to the future (hah!) you either: A. Stay single the rest of your life and have no children, or B. wind up with your own bloody ancestor.😅

My favorite part of Rei and Akari's story is when they said "It's Paradoxing Time" and paradoxed all over the place

More Legends Arceus characters is awesome but after Ash I really hope we get more anime characters
I think it would be cool is if there’s another legends game, there was some cutscene of Volo walking into whatever region it is, with wide camera angles but never a shot of his face. There could be multiple characters saying they saw a strange blonde man walk through the outskirts of “_____” (Whatever region) and everything kinda sets up that he’s a real imposing threat.

Masters takes the liberty to handle events in its game however the devs chose.

I still want to believe that the protagonist of PLA is one and the same as the protagonist in BDSP (I am specifcally meaning BDSP, not DPPt) as how many ways the two games interact with each other.
Interesting how Dawn is treated as the canon protagonist of Sinnoh, but Rei is treated as the canon protagonist of Hisui.
I got confused by that because if Dawn is the protagonist, then shouldn't Barry have the starter strong against hers?
Now she is mostly forgotten, not even appear that much in Hisui arc, Lucas on the other hand involve more. Revenge I guess for the way he was treated back then.

I like to think rei is lucas’s future self who lost most of his memories (including his name) and called himself rei.
Volo is slated to come to Pasio, because that big ol' nothing in the ruins is not nothing. if you look at the background and a quick cutscene reveals a little Togepi running around (Togepi being Volo's primary partner)
It's highly likely that Volo is just going to show up in Masters EX before a mainline game.
I think that it could be interesting if Volo just kept showing up as the main antagonist in every future Legends game, or at least a few. Though for new games, just drop the whole "I'm your friend" build-up and just bring him in as the antagonist pulling the strings.

I think this pretty much confirm that either just rei is an alternate reality form of Lucas or that everyone in hisui is just an alternate reality version of people in shinno would make it less confusing for the main characters to travel back in time just to become their own ancestor plus its not the first time we get alternate reality versions of a main character we get them in omega ruby and alpha sapphire hell akari isn't even the first dawn look alike the anime gave her one years before legend of arceus was even thought of
