anyone else thinks Civ 6 needs a late renaissance / early industrial building for musicians? like a concert hall?
YES! So sick of relying on the 1-2 wonders that offer slots before getting radio! (and then attempting to build them while likely being attacked)
This is definitely needed and could be like a district you can only build when you have walls (because only the biggest best city's had them)
Fernando SV There was a mode made for that, but it hasn’t been updated for a long time.
There are not enough music slots in the game
@CakdemirUA-cam Another district just for musicians? You’re joking right? There already too many districts.
PROTIP: The other very important reason you want to go with Democracy over Communism is that there is a "Different Government Modifier" that lowers tourism between you and other civs at different rates depending on your respective governments. Democracy is one of the least punishing while Communism is the most.
This modifier applies even when you have the same government, oddly enough. I believe the modifier equations is as follows: {(your gov mod) + (their gov mod)} x 3 = modifier as a percent.
So Democracy has a -3 value, and Communism has -6, so if you were Democracy, your tourism modifier you'd have with a civ that is Communist would be {-3 + -6} x 3 = -27%
Correct, sometimes I forget about that one!
I’m so happy I found this, since I love playing Kongo. I definitely learned a lot (especially your willingness to pack your cities so closely together - I keep wanting to have my cities far apart as Kongo and build tall. I have to get away from that).
The suggestion I would make for you is to prioritize three wonders:
Oracle
Mon St Michael
St Basil’s Cathedral
The Oracle has a great synergy with Kongo’s extra Great People generation. Add the Education governor to the city with 3 promotions to get +100% great people generation in the city and you’ll get 13+ writer and great merchant points being generated from the city with just amphitheaters and markets.
Mons St Michael will let you send your apostles to get killed for relics and it and St Basil’s Cathedral give you more spots to put relics for more special bonuses. St Basil’s also gives you more religious based tourism in the city.
Also, watch for the early Great Merchant that gives you a free bank that lets you have two great work slots, where you can put more relics. Plus, the third government building that gives you three more great work slots for more relics.
I'm a fan of any tile improvement that gives culture/tourism. My last two games I used Granada's Alcazar's to good effect.
Can't believe you only showed is one graph. I actually love seeing some of the graphs after you win
In Future I'll make sure to show.more sorry
When he saw the two swordsmen going for the Inca I lost it lmao. *He's so fucked" XDDDDDDD
this video format is really addictive! great job Mr. Potato
i'd say this style is a really nice change, and i ike both this style and the old style. it might be nice to mix things up occasionally?
Religious artwork isn't considered religious with respect to Cristo Redentor, etc. It's just a painting. The "religious" tourism is just from holy cities and relics.
Fantastic video. Love the format.
Just so you know, WWF stands for World Wildlife Fund, which makes the WWF religious fight mean something completely different
1337 Civ skills. Pretty crazy game, funny and informative. 240ish is about what a good culture victory takes me on Immortal. What was the final adjacency on the theater square in your capital, like a +8? That's insanity
my wife and I did not know what to do in the evening, and watched this video together. it's much better than Hollywood movies=)
I had 2020 tourism with China
What did I learn? I need to pay better attention to Kandy when they are in the map. That unique suzeriean bonus is nuts
That is some pretty 1337 tourism you got there spudsy
Love this format I'm back and subscribed
“I got a bunch of great musicians just sitting around waiting for something to do” me and my colleagues from college wasting our musical talent and potencial away
That Petra... so sweet
Great edit bro i gotta catch up with ur videos again lol
I could listen to this man talk about chopping all day long.
Hey PotatoMcWhiskey. Thank you for the amazing tutorials. I have a question. Apparently, I have downloaded Civ6 Aztec Expansion pack. I don't seem to have any of the basic games? I can't even have governors in the city? Did I screw up? What can I do?
Aid requests don't give U gold, they just give the AI points for the emergency to avoid giving the player money as an alternative to the emegency.
Yeah, in order for that to be true you gotta explain how I got 16k gold in about 5 turns
What is the UI feature that allows the leaders to have drop down statistics right below their icons along the top banner of the screen? Is it a mod or is it a part of vanilla? I have never seen it in my settings menu (maybe I overlooked it), and I notice a lot of people use it because it's super helpful.
When I watch this, I just cant take my eyes off it , thanks for that 10 hours investment, worth it
at 1:14:53 (turn 213) are these aurora borealis (northern lights)? if yes they look amazing :D
Would love an optimised alexander game!
somethin i don't understand:
flight tech gives tourism from culture yield tiles, but your colossal heads are faith yields, so how does that give you tourism?
It's literally just because colossal heads give tourism equal to faith yield once flight is researched
@@3Immotommi3 ok thx
more tips, less memes, i loved this
Challenge - win a culture victory while constantly at war with every civ, but you are not allowed to take their cities.
9:29 how do you have so many horses...they never show up like that for me. I get 1 horse for each pasture I put up. Is there a setting or mod that is doing this for you??? If anyone knows it would be helpful.
Monasteries could work too maybe
We need a Georgia domination game
PotatoMcColossalheadlover
Holy shit I love you
chicken pizza
Also oranges give you a peel....[[|:-D
1:03:50 there's always an argument for communism.
1:40:40 Really lucky game? Your Citys got flooded, the A.I. Voted against you and disaster destroyed a lot of stuff. Yup very lucky
With Rome I managed to have 700 culture per turn
Can anyone tell me the name of the mod that shows civs output under their portrait please?
Don't need a mod these days. It is in the main game. Go options, interface and then there is a drop down which you have to change to always show
@@3Immotommi3 thanks dude!
"Spoiler alert"
Kongo doesn't care about faith? Seriously? Great People, Rock Bands, Naturalists? Basically everything involved in a late game culture victory?
Also you didn't even mention how Kandy's suzerian bonus gives Relics when you find natural wonders, which as Kongo is basically the best, most ideal city state to find at the start of the game you could possibly hope for.
learn not to have a lisp
Don't you just love it when you buy shopping malls for your people with disaster relief funds? I know I do.
this should absolutely be an achievement

Conqs have a base strength of 55 + 10 if religious unit in same role + 4 vs other religions (Philip ULA) + 4 (wars of religion) + 4 (Oligarchic Legacy) for *77 CS* in the Renaissance.
Combine this with Magnus -80% strategic cost and have 2-Niter unstoppable supersoldiers to snipe enemy capitals.
Founding religion not even necessary, although it makes things easier and you just have to keep half of your own cities converted (which becomes much easier with the conqs)
Additionally you get +3 era score for capturing enemy cities of a different religion since it counts as conversion while at war.
Good Idea!
I’ve done this before. You can also add a great general, crusade, Facism, for an additional +15 strength. Make them into armies and they can have insane combat strength. I used them well into the information as my army entirely as a joke and was still victorious. Very fun!
@@bernard832 I've found crusade is somewhat counterintuitive as you really don't want to use your religious units and there's no point converting beforehand if you get a convert automatically. Def of the Faith is good if on the defence though/holding newly-conqed cities.
Bodybuilder: Look at these gains.
Me: Impressive
Potato: Look at these yields.
Me: drops jaw.
And THIS is why I love Civ: EVERY Civ can be busted when used properly. Can I make a recommendation? Next, either in one of these format videos or in a series, play as a really strong Naval Civ like Norway or England and show that aspect of the game off!
Awesome idea. I love naval Civs!
Naval gameplay sorta sucks though. No benefit to it.
@@MineRoyale. Not on the right map. It's great fun when you play small maps with Sevan Seas, Archipelago or Fractal.
@@MineRoyale. you have to set your game up for it, but that's true with lots of victory types! In all of these games Potato plays on Pangaea because it's smaller and easier to meet all the civs. He could just as easily play on Archipelago, play a naval game, and have an awesome time doing jt
Norway feels straight up busted on archipelago, especially with golden age harbor adjacency giving science to carry your science in the early game
Potato releasing straight up feature-length Civ movies now.

@@PotatoMcWhiskey Ladies and Gentlemen: we got em.
These new format videos are a really nice changes of pace to have

Easily the most watchable Civ 6 vids I've ever seen.

I like both sorts of videos, I do miss my daily dose of potato though.
Eduardo I’m dying without daily Potato. I miss it so much
Win a religious victory with Kongo
Stop
°√°
Good luck with that goal :)
hrm, you could probably find a way...
(looks at teamed multiplayer)
I twitched a little when you spent your money on that museum when you had Catholicism as your majority religion and you could've bought it with faith thanks to Mvemba's unique ability.
And my God hoarding 16 envoys... you must've completely forgotten about them. I typically only hoard 3 or 4 for when I switch to an appropriate policy card but 16... My God.
Edit after finishing the video: This format is definitely engaging. I watched the whole thing in one setting, all 1 hour 40 mins of it.
I never had a reason to spend them actually.
@@PotatoMcWhiskey You definitely had a reason to use them, in fact, there is no reason not to. for starters, the +1 Diplomatic favour you receive from being a suzerain adds up, and you can sell them for tons of gold as you already do.
Since you're bound to have bonus resources in your empire, Buenos Aires would be immensely useful since that +1 amenities per type would help keep you huge bustling cities ecstatic which is important for the 10% boost to non food yields, which includes culture. Not to mention the fact that by being an industrial city, you get extra production in your capital and Industrial zones.
Also, you have Valletta which is one of the absolute best in game, it allows you to buy city center buildings with faith. this so good since it allows you to basically buy walls, granaries and monuments in new cities, sewers for housing and all that stuff for faith, leaving the gold for other stuff.

Still Nobody:
Olmec: Big head = Tourism
I had my easiest diety victory with this civ. Started watching your take on this video, switched to playing and won on 250 turn with 5 developed cities over 20 population (and 2 new ones, for the purpose of national parks)
And i had 5 archeological museums themed, 5 out of 7 🐶
I did however almost lost diplomatic victory to Peter who has 19/20 points and to Alexander, who was on the 3/5 science victory (i spammed him with my spies, the whole empire was on fire)
The ski resorts kinda look like a colossal head
I assume he showed all the ski resorts just for the lulz and to troll us a bit. Well played, Potato ... well played.
... unless I am wrong in which case ... also well played damn you!
I enjoyed this video a good deal more, it did a better job of getting my interest and providing a singular experience, rather than something that eventually became 'background noise'.
Really love this new format, but certainly hope you do full-on lets plays still as well since you are easily my personal favorite for that style.
Religious art does not count as religious tourism, as far as I'm aware. Christo Redentor does nothing with religious art.
I've read conflicting information on this.
Potato: Builds Petra
Me: *Nice.*
45:40 "I thought it was candy but it was pigs!" "It's not either of those things..."
I hink that this format is a good one and that you should keep doing one out of two videos in this format and the other one a normal game. After it really depends on who is your target. If it's for new players this format os discouraging. If it's for people who know civ it's good to have a short format :) That's my thoughts. In any case keep up the good work and I'm glad you look better in general ^^
Why was he showing us building the ski resorts?
Ben The Master because it was built next to a desert witch seems ridiculous
'I like how it's like on the edge of the desert and it's also like on the edge of a city state.'
As for video styles, a mixture of both would be good. Maybe two short videos for every one episodic series. The showcases are awesome but I also learn a lot from the turn by turn playthroughs. That and the episodes give me more stuff to watch more often where the short episodes leave me without anything for next couple days after I’ve watched the whole thing.
Dd
Take a look at this reddit thread potato, for ideas on tourism overhaul:
www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/cdhhgu/tourism_overhaul_turning_tourism_from_almost/?
Love your videos and keep making them. How about doing a Norway game and using their naval melee pillaging. Basically be at war with one civ at a time and pillage them and cycle through all civs in the game using their infrastructure for yourself.
I'm really enjoying the edited videos! It's nice to be able to get my Civ fix in one video. Of course, this means that I don't always get my daily Potato fix, but I could always go buy some at the store. 🤔😘
As a long-time subscriber I enjoy the new video format. There are a couple of suggestions though:
1. The jump cut editing can be a little jarring when the edit doesn't flow naturally into what you were just talking about.
2. A lot of your decisions happen so fast (with the editing) I don't have time to process WHY you made that choice. Although I enjoy the entertainment...a lot, I watch your channel mostly to learn how to improve my game.
3. And I say this tongue firmly in cheek...get a thesaurus! If I have to hear about this "tasty tasty" whatever followed by that "delicious" something else another 50 times in 20 minutes I will have to start drinking again.

Just got home from work and was thinking, "it has been waaaaay too many days since Sir McWhiskey posted and it's killing me." You are the greatest of all potatoes my friend.
This more informational approach kept me watching start to finish. Having one longish episode for an entire game/topic is easier to manage as a viewer than the 13-parters.
Hey Potato, do you still have the seed for this game? I always wanted to do a Kongo game, starting right next to Kandy.
does the AI not always vote for the 100% production towards city Centers. I think the free vote would be enough
„Look at these yields, dude! This isn‘t even my final form!“ 😂
This video made me happy, thanks man. Nice play.
Jesus christ 10 hrs? I spend like 16 hrs just completing a game. How long was the actual ingame played time for this game?
I am fine with these type of videos but I'm also fine with raw footage- it's up to you potato
Robert Posarić I like these as well
Maybe a mix between both
Enjoying the "full games sped up" content.
Hi There... Whats the Mod that gets the culture, faith, science scores under the leaders icons on top right?
It's not a mod, it's an option in the settings
@@hamedjabbari5883 Ahhhhh... thanks
Hi potato!
I though that the video was great, and I live the new format.
It think it has to do with the fact that civ 6 has been out for a while, so we already know a lot about it. When you play newer games I think I'd like the longer raw version.
Thanks man!
If you are curious - Vrotswav would be closest spelling for Wrocław for english-speakers probably. The "ł" in Wrocław" is spelled like "w" in "way". Or you can hear a youtuber say it in ua-cam.com/video/fcWJF8FH8Zg/v-deo.html
Petra and Effeil tower are definately my favorite wonders..Other wonders are either numerically strong or meh..Petra breaks the game cause it takes dead land that even the AI would hate to settle on and makes it into "gold"..Effeil Tower can take a land filled with mines and make it charming/breathtaking.And if you think Effeil Tower isnt good, try playing Australia with it.The civ 6 wombo combo
I have read that classical republic, merchant republic and democracy all have a positive tourism modifier. If u have a fascist state it will harm your tourism. At least this was the case before. Might have been changed. Is it changed? I never hear you talk about it or take it into consideration an you should know mr Potato
Everytime you say Chicken Pizza I die laughing. And Pachacuti is now forever known as Pachacuti the Cutie.
I always go science with the kongo because the fact I can go early campus, not worry about religion and the rainforest starting bias I normally find myself with commercial hubs before anyone else meaning I get free great merchants so strong gold and science game (that and I never get lucky with relics playing them 😅)
At one point in the 17th century, the great people of a jungle inhabited nation looked at the mountains inside the desert and said to themselves: "You know what those motherfuckers need? Snow."
Any chance someone who's still around on here could explain to me why you would theme your museums, and also I don't really understand why he gets more yields from non-theming the stuff. Like when he switched the great works around at bout 50:00, surely he should be getting less yields not more as they are no longer themed , no?
If this was a multiplayer game, and your capital was producing a third of your culture, you're getting the shit nuked out of your capital lmao
Don't you just love it when you buy shopping malls for your people with disaster relief funds? I know I do.
"I'm gonna settle on iron so I can get kongos unique unit. civ players: Do you want to tell him or should I
Im playing norway and looked at my victory conditions i was first in domination victory and very close to a cultural victory but i dont get the victory for some reason, what do i need to do to improve to get the cultural victory
Why does flight turn faith improvements to tourism? It says it turns culture improvements to tourism...
You say "go ahead and" like every other sentence. It gets really repetitive.
Mbaji-Mayi:
mb as in luMBer, a as in father, j as in justice, ee as in need, m as in mother, a as in father, yi as in ye - Mbaji-mayi
I want to see a religious victory with Kongo, in that you get a religion then kill that empire off.
Potato reading all the Kongo city names made him sound like he was speaking Simlish lmao
Cmon potato we know you show the construction of ski resort was to add veiw time we all know your vids are too short
9:47 Thats right, just ask Czechoslovakia or Germany.
Do you have a video were you are the only one on a continet? Cause i want to know whether its a good thing or a bad thing.
I hate Kongo so much... AI Kongo is always a runaway juggernaut...
How do you play on diety I always get hated by all the civs near me and they declare war on me all the time
