Here are a few tidbits about this part of Mozart's life. This Flute Concerto was composed in 1778. Commissioned by the Dutch Flautist / Flutist Ferdinand De Jean. During this time Mozart composed 4 Flute Quartets and 3 Concertos. Mozart only finished 2 out of the 3 concertos. Notably, the opening of the second movement often resembles the famous theme from the Blue Danube Waltz and if you listen carefully in that movement you might hear some of the Princess Leia theme from Star Wars!

The cadence of the second movement is what I like the most, I played the piece and had a lot of difficulties by playing the thirds in the first movement, It was a nightmare, really, greetings from Spain

i have an all-state audition in about 7 months with this concerto being the requisite piece. (actually, i started learning it by coincidence about 3 months ago for fun, and am now only at around the end of the first movement.)
this video is not only beautiful to listen to, but helps me immensely with understanding the phrasing and musicality. if i make it to all-state, it will have been thanks to you.

@@flutechannel Thanks! I will check into it. Maybe it will help; my fingers in my right hand go numb when I practice, but not at band rehearsal. I am 66 years old; an amateur that plays with my community band. I have found my fingers do not move as fast as they used to. so I hope this will help with those crazy runs composers/arrangers seem to think the flutes should play!
