For me it isn't cheating. I have really bad arthritis in my knees and I love riding bikes. So this is a good compromise that allows me to maintain some of my favorite activities.
I've always found it funny that e-bikes are cheating, I'm commuting to work, how does one cheat that? If my primary purpose for the bicycle was for exercise sure, but it's my mode of transportation, you can't cheat that.
It never was about transportation for Craig. Craig only ever was in it so he can be holier than thou at motorists. But he can't do the same to e-bike users so that's why these kinds of people say cheating instead.
@@RP-dy5mu As I mentioned above, many studies show that we get as much or more exercise on ebikes, because we enjoy riding farther. I've lost several pounds, my blood pressure is down, and my heart health is excellent. When I was younger, I had a Schwin 10-speed, and rode it everywhere. The e-assist makes it possible for me to ride again, and farther, all the while enjoying the ride, instead of seeing it as a difficult workout. The bike snobs should mind their own business. One size does not fit all.
Ive rode bikes for 55 years i bought an ebike a month ago, totaly love it ,great fun.Honestly could not care less what anyone else thinks about it.I just enjoy being on a bike.
I could care less about what acoustic riders say, I bought an E-bike for me not for anybody else, this one guy told me I was cheating, and I said, oh I'm sorry was it your money I spent or mine, he just kept his mouth shut after that.
I use an eBike throttle only for transportation not for exercise. I am incredibly underweight with a 17 BMI so I need to save all my calories and exercise with other means.
I dual use acoustic and electric bikes they serve different purposes and man it's not an either or thing it can be a yes and sort of proposition. Like I have an ebike for being a commuting bike for work and cargo but an acoustic for not rides. Both beloved by me.
So having a biased point of view due to your age and growing up in this technology era. IF something is ASSISTING you in your physical output, then YES it is cheating COMPARED to pure 100% human pedal power. Not real difficult to assess this. Myths?... according to YOUR point of view. Is it thereby easier? Yes. Is using a technical device to map out a given destination easier than a paper map? Yes. Duh.

Great point!
if your knee is out and you can't pedal your regular bike, then an e bike allows you to ride again, assisting your pedaling
You can't cheat when there is no rules.
well said
