Really fantastic video. I got everything I needed to get set up with this new IDE - having been used to using T-SQL via Microsoft's SQL Workbench - in 7-8 minutes (on 2x speed) and it was extremely clear and to the point. Thanks very much
Thank you very much for this well explained and quick tutorial! It is logical, helpful and gets to the point. By far the best pgAdmin tutorial I found.
Hello, when I click on Save, after filling in the Host and password fields, I get this error message: `Unable to connect to server: connection to server at "localhost", port 5432 failed: FATAL: role "postgres" does not exist` What should I do? Thank you in advance.
I would like to inquire about the possibility of using a custom hostname, such as 'laksamana-arya', for my PostgreSQL server. I understand that 'localhost' is the default, but I'm curious to know if there are any specific reasons why I cannot utilize a custom hostname.
@@DatabaseStar oh sorry sir ,Thank you for taking the time to respond to me, I couldn't connect because I didn't expect to have to download PostgreSQL from EDB to run pgadmin4, no wonder I couldn't find PostgreSQL in service.msc, my friend said, it's like I already have a car with complete components such as a steering wheel and gas pedal but I don't have the engine to run it.
Can you not see data in your tables as a table and have the ability to click a cell and change the data like that? Does viewing and modifying data in the tables require you to write a sql query, or can you click and change it in some other view?

Great guide. Still can't even create the PGAdmin server on localhost due to a timeout error regardless of anything I do, but at leat I can understand my school lab now. Thank you!
I don't think so, as it's designed for Postgres and comes with the Postgres database. I couldn't see anything about it with a quick Google search, but it doesn't mean it's not possible.
I'm not sure how to reset the master password. I have a video on how to reset the main postgres password, but the process for the master password is probably different.
Wtf… how come I can’t see tables on the left hand side. I see 1000x menu options but damn just show me the tables. Pgadmin confusing and I work in SQL every day
Looks for pgAdmin tutorial. Ends up with crystal clear explanation. Feels like I'm watching National Geographic.
Heheh glad you like the video!

In my pgadmin data type length is not shown ......How can I see the datatype length like (VARCHAR(30)) along with attribute name in table.......
Oh I'm not sure, it usually displays by default for me.
Hello, when I click on Save, after filling in the Host and password fields, I get this error message:
`Unable to connect to server: connection to server at "localhost", port 5432 failed: FATAL: role "postgres" does not exist`

Oh that’s odd. Is Postgres running on your computer? If it is you may need to google for this error.
I would like to inquire about the possibility of using a custom hostname, such as 'laksamana-arya', for my PostgreSQL server. I understand that 'localhost' is the default, but I'm curious to know if there are any specific reasons why I cannot utilize a custom hostname.
Not that I know of. I’ve never tried it but I don’t know if there would be any issues.

Please I need ur assistance urgently, my PostgreSQL refused to open after Mac update, I have uninstalled and reinstalled still not working
Are you getting any errors when attempting to run Postgres? Did you install it using the package, homebrew, docker, or something else?

I don't think you can do that in pgAdmin. You can in some other editors, but I don't know about pgAdmin. You'll have to write an SQL query.
To the point and clear. Yessir!
Thanks!
Thank you it's very helpful! keep up the good work.

When I create a table on my Mac, pgadmin doesn’t show me my table on the left side can someone help me please
Could you click the refresh button (or right click on the database and select Refresh)? Does that work?
@@DatabaseStar yes when I refresh nothing happens. I really don’t understand what the problem is.
Very nice video. Thanks a lot for your help!

is there an advanced version, where we are shown how to use this fast and with shortcuts ?
I don’t have a video on this, but that’s a great idea so I’ll create one in the future.
what should i do if it doesnt ask me to set up a master password when i open it?? how can i set it up????
Oh I'm not sure, I've always been asked to provide a master password when I install it.
@@DatabaseStarSame problem happen with me too. It doesn't ask for a password

Thanks a lot for this one , but i have an issue. How can i get the password of maintenance database ?
Glad you like it! What do you mean, get the password of maintenance database?
i do not have servers on my pc then how should i install this?
Ah then I think you’ll need to install Postgres first. You can do this from the Postgres website.
Thank you so much👍👍👍

Is it possible to connect with any other databases like oracle or mysql with pgAdmin ?
I don't think so, as it's designed for Postgres and comes with the Postgres database. I couldn't see anything about it with a quick Google search, but it doesn't mean it's not possible.
What is the PostGre Server? you didn't mention anything about it.
That is another name for the Postgres database that is running.
I have forgotten my master password now I dont know how to reset or change it please help.
I'm not sure how to reset the master password. I have a video on how to reset the main postgres password, but the process for the master password is probably different.

Pg admin not asking master password how to fix this?
Oh I’m not sure. Maybe there’s a config setting that can be changed.
how to delete the adminstartor user in pgadmin
I’m not sure how to do that. Why would you want to delete it though?
It helps boss👍
Good to hear!
Is there a part 2?
Not specifically a part 2 video, but I have plans to make a more advanced pgAdmin video soon.
Its showing unable to connect?
Do you have Postgres installed? Do you know if it is running?
@@DatabaseStar thank u, finally done.🙏
How to use Scratch Pad?

Wtf… how come I can’t see tables on the left hand side. I see 1000x menu options but damn just show me the tables. Pgadmin confusing and I work in SQL every day
That's strange... they should be showing on the left under the database. Perhaps there's an access issue, or some bug in pgAdmin.
The volume could be louder. Thank you for the effort
Thanks! I'll keep that in mind for future videos.
Thank you!

what is the password?
It's the password you set when you created your Postgres database, which is not handled by pgAdmin.
