Big Uncle Loz is setting himself up to be the absolute gold standard in strongman journalism and commentary. He and sweet lovely Auntie Liz are so easy to listen to. I can't help but wish nothing but the absolute best for both of them. Hope Loz can crush the competition he is planning on doing. All the best from this English transplant living in Florida now.
Bobby intrigued me at world's last year, then impressed me at strength island... But this intetview has just made me a die hard Bobby fan for 2021. Super excited to see what he brings to the shows this year!
Another great interview Loz. Your interview technique is spot on. It allows the interviewee to speak and we get to see who they are, where they have come from and where they think they are going. Bobby seems to be a real nice guy. Your thoughts on strongmen discussing their rivals is interesting. It seems like most of them are more than happy to talk about how awesome Novikov is ( see your last chat with "Top Paddy", Pa O'Dwyer) and Bobby here. There's a lot of respect there. Can't wait for your next Talking Strongman.
I counted Bobby out before I looked at his age. Dude is under 30 and is way ahead of the game when it comes to static events. He will be a dark horse in every comp from now on.
Great athlete, great personality (like a high school gym teacher whom all the kids love), happy to see another world-class American strongman make the scene. Hope he has a long successful career...
Saw Bobby at the Arnold and wrote him off as a no-name dude that I would never see again, but by the end of the show I was a fan. Clearly a rising star in the sport, I hope to see many more competitions with Bobby in the lineup.
The element of luck in terms of what events you get is so huge. That’s why multiple time winners are so impressive. Guys like Shaw, Big Z, etc. come out on top over and over with different sets of events.
Great interview as always Big Loz! Bobby is a real static monster, I think he can do very well with a little more conditioning. Come on American nightmare, come on!!!
Training I have used on previous occasions has me moving through phases and I have found training close to competition conditions towards peaking has produced results without injury. Every one differs though as I have observed in others.
6:48 I think it should be said, less any aspiring young strength athletes be discouraged, that Rob Kearney scored last in his first couple competitions.
I would like to add that weight classes are coming up in a big way right now. Open has historically been the big one, but weight classes have a lot more opportunity and longevity for people who aren't genetically gifted (and are needle-averse).
Yeah I forget the exact numbers, but I think I remember him saying he got last in like his first 9 competitions and didn’t win till his 13th. I feel like many would’ve quit before then. Shows you what hard work and dedication can do
Loz, these talks are really growing on me. Bobby is a great competitor, I didn't know who he was before the Arnold's 2020. Would you be able to bring Kevin Faires on? I just double checked to make sure you didn't already. Also I finished that 12 week warrior program. I started push pressing just before the program and only managed 140lbs for one lol! By the end of the program I hit 185lbs for one, easy and I wanted to know! I didn't though. Not to mention all the rep pbs as well. All my lifts went up about 50lbs!! I didn't gain any weight, was 180lbs when I started and I'm still that, I shall eat more. I took a week of light work and then restarted the program 😁
I thought those nerdy glasses we see him in once in a while were just for show. He came across as really smart might be a future state-side analyst in the sport.
Another very good interview. It's fun that Loz introduces the next generation in interesting ways, bringing out the best in these competitors, and allowing them to relax and talk. A RARE CONVERSATIONAL SKILL! 💯💯💯
Just another of so many new guys who could legitimately win any of the major competitions soon. I'd say Novikov and Mateusz are still the two best on the scene, but anything can happen in any competition.
In Crossfit games the camera crews work around the competition scheduling. WSM needs to get with that idea. "No - wait; you can't play football yet, the camera guys aren't ready"
I starting to become a fan of Bobby, what a improvements he made! And a good beard, but Loz is still rocking the badest beard. ( if novikov left his stach it would also be up there haha ) Nice interview, and can't wait to see Bobby compete next.
Really interesting to hear Bobby talking about wanting to be the first to get WSM, Arnold’s and CrossFit titles 🙌🏻 It’s for much lower weight, but I plateaued at 185kg deadlift and was “stuck” there for ages. One day I did a 35 mile, hilly bike ride and was destroyed when I got home. I slept then hit the gym in the evening and pulled 200kg with no problem. I really thing cycling (not having impact of running) can help with neurological drive, particularly if you keep the cadence up. After that my deadlift kept on growing, as did the cycling.
THIS is the one I've been waiting and hoping for! I think you called it right Loz when in Bahrain, you called him a Teddy Bear I think he should change his Strongman name to Bobby "The Teddy Bear" Thompson. A humble guy with a great future in Strongman. Thanks Uncle Loz!
Spitting knowledge...not often it’s gets acknowledged that some people have blessings of motor skills and in fact (I think) the bigger you are the less likely that is. Hence heavyweights are slower and less technician than featherweights in boxing

I think Bobby has the potential to become one of the next static monsters. Also he seems like a really nice guy.
Bobby's always seemed like one of those most down-to-earth guys ever, and not just in the sport. Extra points for the beard.
I really admire Bobby's mentality about the training. Only going for PB's when there's a point to it. Very mature mindset.
I love following a sport when it seems like the majority of the guys are fantastic down to earth people.
Highly impressed with Bobby's intelligence and analytical approach. He's as real as it gets. Big fan.
Always enjoy seeing Bobby compete. He carries himself well.
Bobby is a real dark horse at WSM💪🏻
Becoming a big fan of Bobby. Very likeable.
For real why are stongmen so likeable and humble? (in most circumstances)
@@jacobsvetich8735 They’re not mainstream yet

Such a polite and well articulated young man. He's gonna do great things in the future.
Really like Bobby. Hope he gets a spot at next years Shaw Classic
Bobby comes across like a great guy, really excited to see how he progresses after a great performance at WUS
This is freaking awesome
Didn’t really know much about BT, but this was a great interview. Wish him luck.
Thanks both.

Bobby will be on the podium soon, no doubt.
Excited to see Bobby on the channel. Thanks uncle loz
Liked Bobby immediately after seeing him at the Arnold's. I think he should rock the glasses though. It was a unique look.
unassuming Bobby, reckon he could podium this year
Love hearing from Bobby! I think he lives about 2 hours from me-- definitely a hometown fan here. :)
i see why liz n loz like him so much. cool guy!

B-B-BOBBYYYY!!!!!
Would be nice seeing Bobby wins a world, but he can certainly win the Arnolds with his static strength.
OH YES!!!!
This guy is not talked about a lot, but that's about to change.
Could you put this one on Spotify too? Thanks!
Good to have WSM back on that side of the world?? Its been in Florida the last 2 years lol

Interesting Cat! 🐱
Btw did you see the masterclass on Dumbell that Novikov gave to Larry wheels ?
Loz, “when I started it was easier,”
That because you helped ruin it for everyone by making it crazy heavy. 😂
Very likeable and smart guy. I would love to have a beer wtih that Teddy Bear one day :)
Skeptical of people who nickname themselves. Oberst, hall, thompson,
Has anyone ever seen this man without a cap?
Bobby you lost me at CrossFit! Haha jk who am I to judge, interesting goal setting tho, best of luck to you!

Phenomenal interview, Loz! I've been following Bobby Thompson since his first pro Arnold. He's a monster and improving so fast it's insane.

I hope to see Bobby at the Shaw Classic.
I bet he will be next year after a good showing at this year’s WSM
Marcus and the strongman show disappears, Bobby Thompson appears. Suspicious?
