I'm surprised you guys didn't have foam pits. I started gymnastics in the late 80s and my gym had one. They didn't have the nice color coordinated cubes back then - they were just pieces of yellow foam cut into random shapes, but we still had it. I know some very small gyms in the 90s didn't have them, but I thought most did.
Shawn was known as QUEEN OF THE BEAM! And boy could she stick those beams like NO other! Shawn was definitely the Simon Biles of our generation. I'm sure her babygirl is going to follow in her mama's footsteps and be just as talented! 💖

She’s adorable!!!! No doubt whatever she decides to do, her parents will be her biggest fans! I put our son in soccer at that age hoping he’d fall in love with the sport I played, but he played one season and hated it. Now at 16, he’s doing speech and I’m an assistant coach and judge so while it’s not the activity I had hoped for early on, I still get to spend time and pass down knowledge.
