Great list! My favorite Joe Mail-Away was the personalized one. I remember getting that bad boy and reading the file card I created over and over again.
I think mailing away for Joe items might have kickstarted my addiction for eBay purchases. Steel Brigade, Slaughter, hooded cobra commander and the original lineup of Joes with the updated swivel arms were all I could remember getting. I regret not getting that LJN Sarge, such an awesome figure. I never had the fridge, but I remember calling that hotline from my grandmothers house in Montreal that summer....multiple times!!!! I don’t even remember what was said on the phone, I just remember football tackling sounds.
Oh man, I remember waiting for both the MANTA and hooded Cobra Commander. Next to Snake-Eyes (of course!) HCC was my favorite figure. It seemed so long to wait for these to come in the mail, eventually you forgot about ordering them, then one day like magic, poof! A box appears! So much fun!
No matter how rough of a day i'm having , when I tune in to one of your videos , they always make me feel better with a nostalgic feeling inside, such quality work, and your love and respect for these vintage 80s items, shows through in each one. Love it.
Back in the day these felt like they took forever to arrive. I wouldn't be surprised if for me they came overseas. I got to the point of giving up that one lot would arrive but can remember meeting my mother around town one day and she had a package for me. Can't recall if it was the Cobra Commander or the parachute.
I was born in '82 and we didn't have a lot of money growing up. As a result a lot of my early toys were either 2nd hand or older lines that were reduced. I was always excited to see mail away offers on the packaging but my parents had to explain that they had already expired. Thanks for making this video. :)
P.s. would you ever consider making a video about Action Force, and the merger with GIJoe? (Here in the UK we even got GIJoe stuff rebranded as Action Force for a while, I believe - similar to how our Turtles were "Heroes" not "Ninjas".)
Loved this, so glad you included Super Trooper! I remember his vest broke apart and helmet wouldn't stay on, so my dad super-glued it together for me. I'd make him use his shield like a sled down imaginary snow.

Michael, or anyone..are the figures super expensive to collect? I’d really like the original 12” figures as well, as my mom picked up the Mercury capsule for the Joe astronaut at a garbage sale but I never knew what it was until much later.

When I was a kid I next to never got anything outside of my birthday or Christmas. Even then it might only be one figure and if it was a vehicle with a figure that was your only figure. There wasnt any additional. I remember drooling over other kids toys as I rarely got any throughout a year. Also dont dare ask for anything, it will just be a moment of major let down and embarrassment.
