I thought these sounded great but the volume was way too low (especially for a sports earbud). Ended up returning them.

Yeah the fit test definitely helps with that. I agree they are quieter than other buds. Sennheiser is big on hearing protection, so not surprising.

@@Skeeb23 It’s because these are tuned pretty terribly. There is essentially no pinna gain. Check out the measurement data from SoundGuys. As you go up in the response - 1khz, 2khz, 3khz, etc. you expect to see a boost there as you typically see in the vast majority of audio gear out there. Our outer ear, or pinna, boosts these frequencies in everyday life. For some reason, Sennheiser is stuck on this really crappy tuning style for most of their earbuds, wireless and wired. It leads to things like vocals and lead instruments sounding recessed and pushed back in the mix. Just a bad sound. In turn, the overall volume does come off as sounding lower as well. Of course, other principles of psychoacoustics like Fletcher Munson curve or equal loudness contours only makes this worse.
Really, the upper mids and entire treble is noticeably recessed. Surprised this wasn’t called out in this review, but I am not familiar with this channel so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was looking for an in-depth analysis of the tuning style like I see with Crinacle’s quick review on the MTW3 and AREGINA’s MTW 3/4 reviews. Those earbuds also have wonky pinna gains but at least there’s some presence after the scooped 2-6khz region. This sport earbud is pretty bad taking that nonsense to the next level… I feel bad for people spending hundreds of dollars on this. Crazy talk.
