Thank you for the stroll down memory lane. I remember when the building was the Record Factory. There was another Record Factory on 9th and Irving and up the street from that was the Used Record Shoppe that I spent many of hours looking through records as a teenager.
Making my way through your trip. Always love your perception and capturing of the road trips you take. A lot of solo driving! The Dylan audiobook looks like one I will definitely check out. Enjoying these though, and loved that you paused on Monochrome Set at Original Vinyl (I think). I agree, great lp.
It’s so great that you keep up with your friends. Mulatu Astatke , born 19 December 1943) is an Ethiopian musician and arranger considered as the father of "Ethio-jazz". Born in Ethiopia, Mulatu was musically trained in London, New York City, and Boston where he combined his jazz and Latin music interests with traditional Ethiopian music.
i like your friend brooks the most (as far as SF travelogue guests go). you were in bookstore i'd previously seen him him in and couldn't recall his name. no record stores or book stores featuring jazz and yoko where i live.
Back in 2013, I happened to watch the Jim Jarmusch film Broken Flowers from 2005; starring Bill Murray, Julie Delpy, Jeffrey Wright, Sharon Stone, Chloë Sevigny, Jessica Lange and Tilda Swinton..among others. One of the other stars of this film is Jarmusch's use of Mulatu Astatke's meandering Etho-jazz. When the film was over, I walked over to my computer, did a little search and immediately ordered up Mulatu Astatke Featuring Fekade Amde Maskal = ሙላቱ አስታጥቄ* ጋር ከፋቃደ አሞደ መስቀል* - Ethio Jazz = የካተት. Fantastic album.
I had Sweet Exorsist and gave it away as a gift, sorta regret not having it anymore 'cause it's great, hope it's appreciated. Always pick up MJQ, so affordable right? And chamber jazz, yes, like Chico Hamilton LP's are so underpriced and anyone who has listened to either MJQ or Chico would not mistake it for Avant Gard (some people haven't a clue) Fun trip I bet, thanks for taking the time to do this Mazzy, enjoyed it. Cheers
Hi again ! So good you got that Yoko exhibit book ! If you , or your pals need a free passage to that show, im a " host" volunteer , so can take up to four guests in , and there's a few participation sections in it , which are fun too . Ive been volunteering there for over 6 years ! Love and Peace , Lester . T .
Dead Boys! What a cool find, I haven’t seen any of their stuff on vinyl around here. They were also highlighted in that 2013 movie about CBGBs the band was briefly managed by the club owner Hilly who “should have managed the Ramones instead” 😂 sweet videos looking forward to more.

Oh, Damn! I've been out of commission for a bit... I'm sorry I missed you, Mazzy!!!! I'm heading into the City today. Going to hit Amoeba and either Thrillhouse or Tunnel. Have a wonderful time... and GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!! By the way... GREAT vid! ... and to all those Trumpaholics, you'll notice that there wasn't a single murder or human shit on the ground in the entire video. OF COURSE San Francisco has problems... every city does.. .but it's a BEAUTIFUL city filled with amazing people and things to see and do.
Hi Mazzy - Is the Irving Penn expo coming to London do you know or permanent in SF. Thank you. You flicked past a copy of Morris On - a great record of British folk music
I checked the line-up of the Big Ears festival, which you friend is talking about. Stellar line-up! The Blacktronica program was done by one of my favorite producers, King Britt ua-cam.com/video/OGad0lNL4fE/v-deo.html
Ultrasonic cleaning for $3. Great price. Guess i won't rush to Phoenix then! SF would be a place I'd visit if I were ever to go the the US of A. Less chance of meeting any Trumpheads!
Today 6 April 1974 ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest with their song Waterloo.
Thank you ABBA for (more than) 50 years of music. 🇸🇪🍾❤️🙏

LOVE these road trip videos, and this is one of the best. Going to try and hop up to SF and see this Irving Penn exhibition....
Been enjoying your videos for years. This is my favorite so far. Not sure why but there it is.
Great timing! In San Francisco next month for work. All way from Belgium. Cannot wait to hit these record stores!
I love your SF trips cause it’s also my old haunting ground
MJQ... Avant-Garde 🤣😂🤣 "Third Stream" is the correct definition. 😉
I just LOVE the layout of that museum, Mazzy!! Nice record store.
“Mazzy on Tour” loving the content as usual, keep up 🎶✌🏼
I’m no photo agent, and I don’t know that much about photography in general. But that photo of Picasso in the Penn exhibit spoke to me.

" *When you're moving, worries can't collect around you. And the traveling is a stimulus for the music* ." [Duke Ellington - - but could as easily apply to Jack Kerouac]
Groove Merchant Records looked very cool
In my opinion, I would need a very good reason to go to London: and Yoko Ono's show would be that reason. And thanks for taking us into the Penn show.
The de Young museum is highly recommended. I went there when i visited SF
I reckon if someone asked what is SF really like, you are capturing it.
I’ve tried ✌🏼

Mulatu Astatke is so good. I love Ethiojazz!
Just like the old joke, "Hey what's the name of your band?" Free chicken and beer!
The Penn exhibition looks beautiful. Do you fancy seeing the EJ photo exhibition at the V&A whilst you’re in London? D
Nice Criterion shirt!
What species of trees in the museum court yard? Record Bank?
Can you go to San Francisco every week?
Hi Mazzy - Is the Irving Penn expo coming to London do you know or permanent in SF. Thank you. You flicked past a copy of Morris On - a great record of British folk music
The Penn runs in SF through July 21st. Don't know if it goes anywhere afterward?
Yeah Trilogy complete
I worry about your driving when you take your hands off the wheel!
Bird record is free made me laugh
