    during the positive half cycle.. you make the upper corner negative and lower positive...can u explain how....
    i know that it happen due to mutual induction...of primary coil..how we decide the uppr part of primary will be positive or negative

      Tq for replying sir . now I get the point. PIV is the maximum reverse voltage that a diode can withstand without destroying it's junction whereas breakdown voltage is the minimum reverse voltage at which PN junction breaks down with sudden rise in reverse current.

      Electrons flow from negative terminal to positive terminal. However, direction of conventional current is taken to be from Positive terminal to negative terminal,i.e,opposite to that of the direction of flow of electrons.
