Join me playing around in the water as I explore Ile d'Oleron, deal with a leaky van, get my feet wet in the sea and head down the coast for an awesome photo opportunity.
Apologies for the fuzzy bit of video part way through - not sure what happened there but by the time I realised I didn't have the time or desire to go through the 1h30 process of exporting the video again!
I know I said in this I'd put the next video out as a bonus one, but then realised how crazy that would be when the last few weeks I've been in a frantic rush to get a video finished on a Thursday and I could give a chance to catch up instead! So change to those plans, the next video will be out next Thursday evening.

Thanks Steve! There's something about the huts (especially with the waves hitting them) that had me captivated.

Amazing! Looking forward to part 2. That island looked so idyllic and the fishermen’s huts were awesome. You got some great footage and photos. Good luck with the deleting. One of my least favourite jobs too!

Thank you for the lovely sea, shells and sounds. Did you drive around the coast of the Iles des Ré et Oléron? There were fishing places like this up near PORNIC which was lovely for a coastal walk. Royan is vast but its possible to drive along the cost. Talmont sur Gironde is a "plus beaux village". then you have to head inland but there is the ferry to other side of the Dordogne Estuary, which I haven't yet been on.... Biscarosse Plage is very nice to watch the surfers ... I have friends who live there and before that is the vast dune... You could keep going down to Hendaye and on the other side of the estuary is Honderibbia... Spain... I don't know if a ferry can take you across but I presume it can... I know I should go to both.. well I did stay in a nice hotel in Honderibbia but was on a mission to Seville in Feb / March 2023 so didn't loiter other than to catch my breath with evening TAPAS and morning coffee and croissant and learn that Spanish language there is Basque!
Your vlogs are very refreshing. I appreciate editing must be enormous work!

I didn't drive around the coasts of the islands - my uncle was driving for Île de Ré so I happily went were he took me, and the weather was not great on Île d’Oléron so I didn't end up exploring as much as I'd planned!
Talmont was on my list but I missed it - so it's still on the list for another trip. Same thing happened with Dune de Pilat - waaaaay too windy to go up it when I was in the area! There's always more to see than I have the time or energy for, but it's good to have a reason to go back 😊

    Hi Kiki,
Just love the fishing huts! I wonder how much they catch?
Just a point on your raining in, Do you have a "high level brake light above your doors? If the seals look OK it could be the light seal? Water is a bugger and may not show up where it is coming in! Reply if you want to look at it .
    Take care and stay x

Hi Steve, I guess enough fish to be worth having them?! Some of these huts were about ready to fall into the ocean, but there's some newer more robust ones along the coast.
Thanks for the tip on the light - I have changed the bulb in that light since having the intermittent leak and didn't notice anything but I'll have another look!
Oddly it's been insane weather the past day or so and so far it's still dry... uh oh, is it risky to say that whilst there's still rain to come?! 🙊
