A lot of people get this case confused with the Sherri Papini case. Where Sherri really did fake it with an ex-boyfriend, but it took years to get the truth out!
Imagine doing such a bad job in an investigation you upset THE CRIMINAL so much they corroborate Aaron and Denise. It's sad that cops don't look for Truth but to quickly solve the case at anyone's expense! This was the most bizarre case ever lol!!!
Thanks for recap. If the FBI agent set up this whole situation and isn't in jail, then the situation isn't a win. That the police who didn't investigate properly haven't been fired means that the situation isn't a win for this country. Their incompetence is horrible. They should end up losing their careers and their pensions.
This is such a crazy story, I did watch the documentary about it awhile ago. It has to be the worst feeling being told your a liar when your NOT lying. So many shady COPS worked this case, it's disgusting how they treated the victims, im so happy the truth came out, I wish those cops would have been fired.
I can’t imagine such a scenario playing out here in England but then again we rarely have access to Police enquiries let alone interrogations.thanks again you two. 📚🇬🇧👍
I have not heard about this before. It’s such a terrifying story. The can’t imagine how scared they must have been. Then to be told they were lying, had to be the worst!!
Two things to take away from this case: 1) the truth is indeed stranger than fiction, and 2) this is an object example of the "Tunnel Syndrome" problem the cops sometimes (not always) fall into when investigating criminal cases. Detective Mustard... yeah that name certainly applies to that doofus. And he got an Officer of the Year award, to boot. Unbelievable! Well, at least, there's a happy ending to the story; the "criminal mastermind" is behind bars, Denise and Aaron have been exonerated, they got a formal apology from the police department, they're happily married and are now parents. Too bad Officer Douchebag didn't lose his job because of the clusterf***, but it is what is. Until next time, be good, be kind and don't litter, TCR Fam. Also be genuine and take care of one another.
Wow! The twists and turns of this one are really pretty mind-blowing! Glad it turned out okay for Denise and Aaron in the long run. The FBI came through much better than the Vallejo Police Department who were a bunch of loser good for nothings! What a nightmare to have undergone. Definitely not worth it at all regardless of financial benefits afterwards. Incident potentially softened by the money the couple made, but probably not enough for them to stop wishing that it had never happened. The trauma of being kidnapped and SA'd and not believed by the police cannot be undone. This is really a weird and awesomely bizarre one and well told. As always, you guys are great! ❤
Yeah i agree. I really hope they remain a solid family unit with a bunch of therapy if they choose to participate. I wish them peace & hope they move away for their kids sake- peace and quiet.
Itis completely disgusting that the law enforcement got promotions! The female detective broke the case! The men should have been fired! It is just gross the crap law enforcement gets away with!
It may be sexist but it is true! The male officers railroaded the poor guy telling him he's a murderer! Then the girlfriend after being abducted and raped is called a liar! They should have to pay the city back for the resources wasted because of their lie! It wasn't until the female detective broke the case that the truth came out! And then the couple gets no apology from the males, only repeated abuse from them, and they get the promotions?! No , they should have to pay the city the millions from the lawsuits out of their own pockets! The only one who deserved a promotion is the female detective!
Muller would definitely have been another Golden State Killer in my opinion. Misty is an absolute legend. I feel so horrible for Denise. To have gone through such a traumatic thing and not be believed by the people that should be helping you must have just been heartbreaking.
I remember this case very well, being from California. No one believed either of them. Definitely was newspaper headlines. Yes I still like to read newspapers! Thanks Chris and Amy have a beautiful day!
Dirty cops messed this all out. To me they all shoud have been held accountable and terminated and jailed. Im sorry for them. 💔 Thanks Chris and Amy love you both take care.💕💕💙💙💙
It was likely a robbery. The perp may have said something about Andrea to throw the scent elsewhere. He was likely working alone and played recordings of others to make them think there was a whole crew of people.
I heard this story before, but loved your, “True Crime in Half the Time”, take on this very twisted tale. Her poor boyfriend Aaron and Denise went through so much, just to be disbelieved, and charged and finally some justice. Big hi from Australia. 🇦🇺
This is my first time watching your channel and i enjoyed it a lot so i subscribed. This was a great story and you tell them good but at around the 18:00 mark when you jump into explaining the twist you blow through that way to fast. All the names and new people you introduce made it really hard to process the information while trying to keep up with the story. I had to rewind it 3 times to get it all. So not complaining just trying to give a little constructive feedback so maybe you can spend a little more time on information packed parts like that in the future. I knows there's a science to making these youtube videos and maximizing the viewership and participation of the videos and video length is a large part of that but I don't think anyone is going to mind spending a extra five or even ten minutes listening to a story when it's this good and told by such a good storyteller. Alright thx for the video bro ✌🏻✌🏿✌🏽💯
Welcome to our TCR family. Fair point about getting all the info. I knew this story so Chris’s delivery of facts was ok for me, but if you weren’t familiar, I think it would be tricky.
Hi there! Thank you very much for the insight. We really do appreciate you taking the time to let us know how we can be better story tellers. Much respect. 🙏 Always a work in progress...Always learning.🙌
Typical: The Police agree to make a deal for a settlement if they *don't have to say they messed up!* Unbelievable! They should be fired! What a bizarre world we live in where someone can make a colossal -mistake- injustice and not have to admit it. 🙄🙄🙄 _okay, we'll pay them...but we're not fessing up to any mistakes_ sounds like a five year old
I think your microphone is too close as your S's are super sharp and ear piercing. I turned my volume way down but it made it hard to hear you. Don't know if it's just me. I'm sorry I will have to miss this video...first time ever.
I love this channel it s literally my FAVORITE but for the first time EVER I do NOT agree the title! Personally I think it should say ""why did LE assume the kidnapping was fake?"
Thank you for the post. I had never heard of this case, the movie Gone Girl I have, never seen it. I’m the one living under a rock. Hopefully both can keep moving forward with their lives together, both are strong willed. The police officers involved in the case should have been fired. The town where the kidnapping took place seems the residents would not feel safe with the police officers involved with the case still supposedly keeping them safe.
The irony of having the name Mustard yet he didn’t have a clue. The way they were treated & the way police botched this from day one was disgusting.
🏆 here you dropped this!
😂😂😂😂😂
Ouch! Excellent dig!
Love it!
Those cops should all be fired. You guys did such a great job summarizing this story!
Ass-ump-tions
I digress.. it's a Police setup.
I can't imagine going through all that and then being called a lair. I am happy to see that they are happy married and have a beautiful family now.
She was lying. It was her ex boyfriend.
Sorry I thought this was a different one.
I read your first reply and I was like what I got to check this out. Then I saw the second reply. Lol

What an INSANE case. So bizarre!

This is Insanity.
hey, Chris & Amy! Yet another great video!! thanks.
Appreciate you, thanks!
Thanks TC recaps. I remember when this was happening. Vallejo PD is notoriously thuggish and full of swaggering a-holes.
I bet detective Mustard was scrambling to play Ketchup (catch up)😂..got sick over it and ended up in the Mayo clinic😂
That was cute 👍
🤣😬
🎯😂😂😂
No amount of money removes trauma.
Yeah i agree. I really hope they remain a solid family unit with a bunch of therapy if they choose to participate. I wish them peace & hope they move away for their kids sake- peace and quiet.
Wow what a crime!

Vallejo PD sounds like the Keystone Kops regarding this case.
aah yes, vallejo. of course your police are fuckin incompetent
I remember this case very well, being from California. No one believed either of them. Definitely was newspaper headlines. Yes I still like to read newspapers! Thanks Chris and Amy have a beautiful day!
Thank you, you too!🌞
I can't even find a newspaper where I live in NY 😢😢 If I do find one, the news is days old and I have already seen it on the news or online !
Such a crazy case for sure
I love your recaps. Always
Love you!
Always fight. Always.
This was a crazy story, it was so good on Netflix ( American Nightmare).
Dirty cops messed this all out. To me they all shoud have been held accountable and terminated and jailed. Im sorry for them. 💔
Thanks Chris and Amy love you both take care.💕💕💙💙💙
Thank you Ms C!
"SHOULD"....
I hope everyone had a Great and Wonderful weekend ❤️ I love you guys 😘
Love your shows❤❤❤
🙏
Sad but good job on your recap...
Let's trigger the UA-cam algorithm, TCR Fam.
😊 indeed I love these two's voices
Absolutely! Let’s go!!!!!❤
Hi vern💙
Hi 👋
I like your style Vern!
Such a weird story. I stopped and rewound a few times to make aure I heard correctly.
19:55 I feel sorry for this two
Tunnel vision is real!
Vallejo cops are involved.
This is definitely some black ops/ spec ops group. Absolutely horrifying!
It was likely a robbery. The perp may have said something about Andrea to throw the scent elsewhere. He was likely working alone and played recordings of others to make them think there was a whole crew of people.

Hey Chris! 🩷
Hello Ash & Emi!
Typical: The Police agree to make a deal for a settlement if they *don't have to say they messed up!* Unbelievable! They should be fired!
What a bizarre world we live in where someone can make a colossal -mistake- injustice and not have to admit it. 🙄🙄🙄

WOW,,What crazy story!
It is, isn't it!
Vallejo police have messed up in other cases as well. Sad.
I'm a week behind 😢 watching the videos
Crazy documentary and overall story
Indeed!
Every wild story
Hope All is well Chris and Amy ™️❤️🩹
It’s Detective Mustard in the police station with the lobotomy.
I think your microphone is too close as your S's are super sharp and ear piercing. I turned my volume way down but it made it hard to hear you. Don't know if it's just me. I'm sorry I will have to miss this video...first time ever.
I feel the same, he also looks different. Big weight gain fast 🤔
Crazy ash story. I don't believe it when I first heard it.
I love this channel it s literally my FAVORITE but for the first time EVER I do NOT agree the title! Personally I think it should say ""why did LE assume the kidnapping was fake?"

Nothing like gone girl 😅
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
But when I tell people VPD isn’t worth the breath it takes to say VPD then I’m wrong.
Vallejo police must employ some of the dumbest police officers in the country and that's saying something.
❤❤✌️
Funny that it took a woman cop to figure out what was actually going on!😂
🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
A cop was a part I bet
😮
Boring… No more.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💕💞💕💞💕💞
👍🏻🇫🇴👊🏻
