Albergues are where to stay! Have walked 6 caminos and have never pre-booked! On the Primitivo, the Municipal albergues had DOZERNS of empty beds while the pre-booked tourist places were full. A lot of people appear to be AFRAID to stay in albergues! If we do not use the Albergues, we will lose them--lost the albergue in Dozon on the Sanabres from lack of people staying there. Do it right--NO pre-booking and No taxis to carry your pack! Rather than spend money for your backpack to ride in a taxi, consider buying a bed or a meal for those who walk with nothing!
I’m walking the Camino Frances this coming May and your videos are helping me prepare for the journey. I’m really excited as I’ve been wanting to do this walk for so many years and now I finally get to do it. Thanks for sharing all the info and knowledge.
Hi, it's Grace from California. Thank you so much for this very informational video. You answered a lot of the questions, and I am very appreciative of all of it. I will be making my first camino in the autumn, at age 71, and this video and the one from a few days ago have been instructive. Thank you🌞🌻
The best experiences I've had at albergues have been between the typical stages. Just stop in when you see something interesting. Usually you'll find very involved owners and experienced pilgrims who know all the pilgrim etiquette. Usually you can find family style meals too!
I re-use the ‘disposable’ sheet and pillowcase many times. No need for new ones each day. Too much pollution. Thank you for an interesting video. Buen camino.
I have often thought about making a what not to do list to new pilgrims, as I have seen people refused access, being kicked out and even refused compostela in Santiago. Remember to get stamps every day - EVERY DAY. Don't get drunk and noisy in the albergue. Don't argue with people in the albergue about politics and religion. Donativo doesn't mean free - donativo places relies on donations to provide services for the pilgrims coming the following days. Be patient and understanding -
Funny. I’m watching too many Camino channels 😂. I just recognised someone in your footage who has a channel- nick living life. An English hiker who wears a trademark yellow shirt and pack.
Hello :) I've been watching your videos for a while now, getting ready for my first camino :) In this video you say that you cannot book albergues at all, but in the linked video in the end, you say that you can book albergues the night before or even from home before the camino. Is this something new from this year? Is it only for the camino frances?
Hello! You can only book the private albergues, any time you like, on any Camino. The donation based and the municipal cannot be booked. Which Camino are you walking this year??
For the Camino Francés, you can get a list of the albergues in St. Jean Pied de Port at the pilgrim's office. That list also includes private albergues, but it is always indicated whether a place is municipal, parroquial or private, and also prices (or if they're donation based). Just highlight the municipals and donativos in the list if you prefer those :-) The list also has all the information about whether the albergue has a kitchen, how many beds, distance to next town, ect. Very useful little booklet! Buen Camino!
Hello, can you tell me in Saint Jean Pierre de port, do I need to book a hotel in advance? Since I arrive there after 15:00 pm, how is the availability of seats in Alberg?
@@organizator_video depending of the period, in September it might be quite full by 15:00… we recommend booking the first day, for the peace of mind, especially on the first day! Hugs
@@caminotellers Can you tell me if it is possible to book albergi in advance? In the kamino ninnya application, they offer options for booking only from 45€, is this the only one that can be booked in advance? Thank you very much for the reply. 🙏🏻
I saw an albergue host deny a german because 'she didn't like the look of him'. That was the worst albergue i stayed at on my camino. I read all the weird and terrible google reviews of that place after and believe all of them.
Hey guys. I dont want to be negative but i have noticed in your shorts and other blogs you refer to the Camino de Santiago alot but when you do that you are only talking about the Camino Frances. Maybe you should try to enlighten your subscribers others. As your poll question was about problems with the Frances pointing people to other caminos might help alleviate some pressure which it is experiencing right now. Just a thought, maybe 2 too many beers after my walk today on the Mozarabe😁. Dont get me wrong i enjoy your content. Love you guys.
@@caminotellers im only finished day one and so far uneventful. Dry river bed and some roads. I get into the mountains ( snow capped ones btw 😁) starting tomorrow and i hear its going to be spectacular. Keep you posted. BTW, i just saw your up coming Q& A topic next week 👍
@@troydasilva3685 I thought that you would eventually see the upcoming Live… :) we truly believe in sharing things about many Caminos, happened to be that people ask mostly about that one! To be honest, the first two Camino we did weren’t even French! This year we go against the main stream, we’ll keep you updated too !

That’s true, many people are afraid of staying in Albergues, not knowing that the best spirit and atmosphere is there!
