I've heard about the acrylic allergy, nooooo thank you! I already didn't like the way the edges of my cuticles at the tips of my fingers felt when put under the UV light; learning about the allergy just cemented the belief that gel polishes are not for me. They can be very pretty, and people (you included) do some awesome things with them. But I'll be sticking with regular polishes going forward.
