Your the only person who showed us the proper way to throw a curveball
This guys the best pitching instructor around in my opinion.
jason reynolds Thank you Jason. I appreciate it!
PitchingAcademy thank you so much it actually helped me a lot and its true that u are a very good pitching instructor but I got one question when I throw my change-up in that wrist position it doesn't work but when I throw it like a fast-ball it works why is it like that
The BEST instruction! And the best way to throw a curve. Coaches; stop teaching to curl the wrist and/or flick the wrist.
miked1120 Thank you Mike!
This helped so much, my coaches have always told me over the top with the curve, and that's why my elbows been hurting
Best explanation I've ever heard. Really appreciate you going over both the do's and the don'ts. Could never throw a curve my whole life, then just went out to the backyard and there it was, haha. Looking forward to teaching my son!
I have seen many videos on how to throw a curveball, but I can honestly say that this one explains how to throw a curveball best out of all of the videos I have seen!
I watched this video two days ago and I never threw a curveball before and I had a game today I was spotting it and my Catcher said it was breaking. Thanks for everything
Raillan Viray Thank you I'm glad you had success with it!
this helped me so much, i can now work on a curveball without hurting my arm, and i love that you take the pitchers health so seriously. Thanks!!!!
So detailed and broken down, not a single detail left out. I like that.
Holy f-ing shit. FINALLY, a proper video on how to throw a curve ball. And this technique, just ain't for beginners. The amount of disagreements I've had with other coaches; you DON'T have to cup your wrist or 'snap' your wrist.
Great instruction!!!!!!
great video, I was getting a sore arm, as expected from my curveball by wrapping my wrist, not wrapping it has really helped!
Great instructions trying to get back into baseball more needed to start learning new pitches too this helped a lot
I have trouble throwing a curveball and everyone else doesnt break the machanics down as good as you do. This helps me alot. My fastballs, splitters, and now ill have a great curveball thanks to you
im trying out for pitcher on the high school baseball team and this will definiatly help. thanks so much and please do people like me a favor and keep making vids!
my son found this very helpful thank you
The best video I've seen on Curveball. I bookmarked your PitchingAcademy chennellfor later refference. Bet you are a Coach.
Thank you very much for your time to do an excellent video.
Solid video man. I haven't tossed off the mound in 10 years but I am getting back into pitching and this helped me with movement, appreciate it. This will go nicely with my two seamer.
This is an awesome tutorial, makes me feel like I could throw a perfect curveball right away! :-)
Very understanding your explanation. It helps a lot. Thank you!
This was great! I was taught to come over the top and drop my front shoulder. Thank you!
two things i love... how many vids you have, and the intro :3
This helped so much, thanks man
thanks you are so helpful
Great Video! Thanks alot. i was facing some troubles with the movement of my current curve, hopefully this works better!!
Finishing through with a straight wrist and the thumb up (supination) will allow the olecranon process of the ulna bone to make injurious contact with it's fossa on the humerus bone. To prevent this from occurring and to increase rotation on the ball the release should be powerfully pronated so after release the wrist is turned down and the thumb is pointed downward.
im in 8th grade and i have been throwing a curveball for a year and i have been partially correct and my arm is still very strong
Thank you! Nice video, great tutorial.
I will try this way and hope have success.
this guy taught us to throw a fastball holding it like a curveball. the whole point of a curve ball is to curve and u can only possibly do that by snapping ur wrist down
I loved this video!! Thank you for the great tutorial!!!
wow this is a perfect way to throw a curvball
Logan Firestine Thank you Logan
Why cant everyone else explain a curveball so perfectly? Awesome tutorial
best tutorial for curveball ive ever seen
Thanks for the awesome video! I wish coach Didid tought that well.
excellent tutorial .. very detailed and very helpful
It wasn't throwing the curveball that messed your shoulder up. It was your mechanics. I pitched for 35 years and had a mean 12 to 6 and never had elbow or shoulder problems.
that really helped you have the best video of a curvebal i have seen good tips it helps
throwing in a way so to avoid injury(esp. in younger players)is critical.thanks for focusing on that.
Ty for the help, now I can throw a nasty curveball! :D
Wow! With my curveball just from practicing this technique, my throw could be at their eye level and drops right into strike zone, THANKS!
thanks very interesting! I learned alot
Im from korea so i cant understand well, but i think this video is the best of teaching the curveball!
so do i flick my wrist or not because i read online that it will hurt my pitching arms health if i do?
Thanks for the tips, super effective
gracias

Dude your really helpful , you know what your talking about
thanx this helped a lot! now i can keep hitters guessing!
Thanks
you explained it perfectly
If my regular arm slot is over the top will throwing curves hurt my elbow or something?
most important point to any pitch , especially the curve ball...is the follow through
how do you get command of a curveball because mine moves alot but only certain days i have good command of it how do i have command consistantly
Nice explaining
I do everything it says to but its a slider, a good slider but I wanted a curves ball wht do I change to get a heavier break?
well my natural arm slot is over head do i stil pitch the curve ball over head
I used to work with this guy... Cool guy...
this has to be the best explaination of a curveball i have ever watched, amazing
BRadley welcome to our allstar team
thanks
Well why are you having them throw it side arm it makes no sense they are gonna hurt there arm.
There is actually multiple ways I grip it
we faced a freshman that threw a nasty curveball and he pitched us out in the conference the other day, it was the saddest day of baseball in my life......so I'm gonna try my best to master this pitch so i can come back next year and see how effective it is.
thanks finallya person who knows what he is talking about :p
How fast does the ball have to be going for it to break? I could never make it happen.
Probably close to 40, as a 14 year old I've screwed around and got break throwing it like 20, although if I throw it regularly I usually can get decent break once it's mid 50s (confirmed by a speed gun)
Pretty fast
very good vidio now i can go out and trick some people out
My coach told me to throw it like I was hitting a nail with a hammer. Seems to work pretty good.
the way i throw its got a natraul curve
What age groups would you consider "beginners"?
Kyle Taylor It depends on how their fastball mechanics look. It varies greatly. I'll have a handful of lessons solely on mechanics with my students first before showing them a changeup. Then, when they get the changeup down very well; accuracy and movement then I will show them a curveball.
About 13 or 14
I don't understand why 12 year olds are commenting on this. For them throwing a curveball is very dangerous, because their muscles haven't formed yet, so therefore they can have permanent damage on their arm.
Sorry you did it incorrectly. I don't know your complete story but where did you learn mechanics? If you have sound mechanics first and then learn the curve the right way you seriously minimize the risk of any injury. good luck!
My son did it he thought he couldn't do it but he did
i need to write some notes down, quick!!!
I am a pitcher so I wanted to thow a curveball
Hahah yup, mine would always go right into the ground! This vid cleared things up, amazing thankk yu!
Congrats on 69 videos. :)
Very good explanation of grip and arm slot. I'll be teaching my 13 year old a curve this year and will refer to this video (I'm a former college pitcher who can throw a good curveball but wasn't sure how to teach it).
THANX SO MUCH now I got a mean curve ball made the guy duck but was a dead strike
i wish there was more focus on the "how to" part instead of the "how not to"
You constantly say don't throw it over the top, and follow your regular armslot. What if your armslot is naturally over the top? I think this might give the impression that you shouldn't throw over the top at all, ever.
well the real reason that pitchers hurt their arms is they throw the curve to much
If u master this pitch ur unstopable
This guy looks like eminem lol
thts because your 15 and throwing sliders/curveballs. do you know why major leaguers go for surgery on their elbows its because the snap of the wrist hurts your ligaments in your elbows. 15 is too young for curveballs and sliders all you need in your pitch arsenal at 15 is a 4 seam, 2 seam, and a change up. add in a knuckleball or splitter if you wanna
ur 15 you shouldnt be even thinking out throwing junk pitches
