OMG the name thing... I changed it to Nikki (nikunja) because I couldn’t get a job anywhere. And every time I handed in my resume they asked about my English. I’m British!! I only speak English.
You own a business, you get a CV with a non-English name and you think it's unreasonable for them to confirm you're fluent in English?
Get a grip, systematic racism exists in processes like the redlining - but so many examples, like the one you've picked, is just common sense and playing to the odds. For absolute clarity, I'm saying if you get a CV with a non-English name, there is a significant enough chance that person is not fluent in English and therefore it is prudent to check. Gettit?
@@johnnybegood9742 normally you can tell if someone can speak English during the interview process. At least that’s what I do when I receive a CV at my business. I do however ask if a person is bilingual as that’s an asset to me. I ask everyone that. Not just the ones with difficult names. I certainly do not ask if they can speak English during a conversation that is happening in English. 🤦🏽♀️
@Jason Franklin I think everyone has different reasons. I followed my heart and family. I could live in any country as long as I was with them. But the UK is a westernized area. So the differences for myself are trivial. Lots of people travel for fun and experience. Other people go to help people or are offered opportunities and some are not given a choice. In reality we’re all from somewhere lol.
@@johnnybegood9742 if your having a conversation in English and they ask if your fluent in English.. well-
@Jason Franklin my parents did it because with a Canadian education you can get a job anywhere and safety purposes
'Lisa I said it first' 😂😂 love the way she can criticise and also joke about it😂
She’s literally talking like she’s walking on the ice.
The problem is that she should not have to do that. proud of you Lily
@QuagmireFeels no one asked
@QuagmireFeels and how do YOU know?
@@user-jq7nq9fw5s she has a whole show about that
@QuagmireFeels yup, true.
@@viper4793 actually it's a public platform. Pretty much everyone has a say.
Me watching this: “YES LILLY!” “Exactly!” “Bingo”..... “hold on, am I saying chai tea wrong too?” 😭
chai tea means 'tea tea' 😅
what western companies call "chai tea" is actually masala chai, or Indian spiced tea
Chai tea both are same b'coz chai is the hindi of tea
Therefore. Just call it Chai. 🍵
Tea means Chai (in Hindi Language).. so instead you can either pronounce it Chai or Tea... But not chai tea ❌... when it comes to spiced tea, simply call it MASALA CHAI❤️❤️❤️
Hope this gives you an insight
🇮🇳❤️❤️
it's like saying naan bread :D when "naan" already means bread
THANK YOU! Systemic racism exists literally everywhere, including India. Colorism is a huge issue which is not talked about enough. In my personal opinion, once us humans can rid of color coding ourselves, would be a step towards racial equality. You are right though, first and foremost we need to recognize that there is an issue.
The racism sh3 experienced in usa is different from the colorism in India!
Humans haven't evolved to that level of understanding yet
blame generalisation of beauty in bollywood
@Minuteman Luke when we didn't talk it just got worse, I guess we had no choice but to talk about it. There was no choice, it's either live freely or live like a underground hibernating animals, which would you choose?🤷🏻
Han bhai india me he sb kuch hai tum kbhi india se satisfied nhi hoskte , well I just wanna say one thing that there's people they are dying and we want to talk about racism.
Well, if some people still think that colonialism was great, we can't move forward with understanding its effects which include systemic racism and entitlement. Europe built the entire world on this model and sucks for everybody including the European diaspora.
@Minuteman Luke I lived in the US, France, UK, Denmark, Tanzania, Malaysia, amongst others, living with the locals learning the language. And you?
Lol....your really smart. You should get your own late night show too.
Macdarnold french fries
You lying to yourself😂 u know how lucky u are living in the best country on Earth u just can't admit it. Stfu about your "entitlement" ish and fix your home. That is ur problem not whyte people lmao
@@lindabb7064 and what that accomplish? Are you one of those wytes trying to find yourself?
That part about people saying you can only talk about being a brown woman is so true. Why is it bad if u talk about that somehow?
Tell me about it! I got so much hate for a comment I made on another one of Lilly’s videos saying that I am happy to see so many different kinds of brown girls being represented in different genres. People have told me that I shouldn’t be talking about colour and should be talking about talent and morals. 🙄Seriously?! What does that have to do with what I just said?! 🤷🏾♀️ I really appreciate Lilly speaking out about this openly with humour! Good for you Lilly! I love you! 💕
I have the best response to this limiting my fan base due to color sexual preferences or anything means that I have less friends not more friends by being anti racist !
So are you saying you limit your fanbase or dont
Anddd I find some negative comments down there about this video... 😂😂😂...it's okay Lily...as BTS said .. "Haters gonna hate...players gonna play..live a life man..good luck!" 💜

I have to say, I just came from a video criticizing your late night show, but I think that this format is a lot better than it was in person. It makes it a lot more enjoyable and engaging to watch when the clips can be cut and edited. I don’t know what your plans are for when it would be safe to be in person again, but I encourage you to try and move more towards this format.
I agree. She should keep her anti white, anti male woke comments in her UA-cam channel. She already has a platform here and her fans KNOW her and love her. Her late night show failed because she took her ideas out on national television and basically alienated and offended half the country. Btw... I'm a woman of color (before you assume I'm white) and I think ALL jokes that offend ANYONES race, are pretty crappy.
Thank you Lilly for your ability to tackle subjects with humour, honesty and truth xx
@Minuteman Luke Honey, you’ve been commenting on every single video she makes about how horrible her show is, and it’s so obvious that you just want attention. Because I’m telling you right now that you are helping her by giving her views, and commenting something mean doesn’t change that.

Thank her for what... she’s as authentic as a fake hundred dollar bill. She is the privilege she points her finger at...it’s corny snd so is your statement
LOVE....LOVE....LOVE...... THE VERBAGE💪🏽😎🖤🤍🤎🧡Hate begets Hate and u have shown you're bigger than that and EVERYONE ELSE has the inate capacity to do so as well, but some CHOOSE to be an ACTUAL HUMAN BEING 💖💜
Lilly is exactly right. I have seen many hate comments and videos about why brown women should not get shows just because of Lilly. First of all, her show is amazing. Second of all, if Lilly fails (and she won't), that's on her, not brown women.
Atlast somebody is being truthful about racist
Really well explained. Thank you, Lilly!! ❤️💜💙🧡💚💛💕
I seriously feel like if only I were there at that time I would have hug Lilly so hard for this❤️ b'coz that's what I want to do and lots of love and please always keep doing what you do
I never experienced racism until I watched this channel
That's how I feel about being left handed sometimes, we need scissors, spatulas designed for us please..
Toronto is VERY diverse and chill as far as I know. We moved to TX when I was six and even then I could feel the difference. Racism hits different in different places....also I should move back to Toronto 😩
Thanks Lilly. This is probably the most open-minded multi sided talk about racism I have heard in a long time. I think that too often anti-racism can lead degradation and sometimes even more generalization - something, you combated really well!!
Anyway, I think that the mentality that video expresses is something to be deeply valued.
Brown girls are magic...

@Minuteman Luke You are everywhere , genuine question, why do you hate her ? I think you should start loving yourself more... Live a happier life
Because if you just hate her, yeah sure you get angry, but most people just ignore it, why are you even bothering giving views and comments on her channel 🤔

So much racism that she has her own network television show.
Thank you so much Lilly for talking about this.
Brilliant.

Wow someone pronounced my name correctly ❤
mannnn I'm proud of her!!!!
I get this. My 1st grader also had the same conversation and she also feels how they generalize her being brown kid at school.
Ps5 in Ps2 oo God.. 😂😂
Great stuff, thanks you for this video!
Let’s goooooo! Love you videos
can relate
True, I relate badly to the name part. Like if her name was anything even remotely close to my name, it would have been even worse for her. But nevertheless thanks for speaking up about this. And this low rating shit, you r gonna get through it. Keep faith girl. You are doing fine ❤️
Love this woman so much! ❤💫
love your video's from BC Canada.
Oh my god Lilly! I love you! You spoke so well and everything you said is true.... It was truly heartwarming to see someone address racism without making it a joke or a political statement!
You rock, girl!!!❤️❤️❤️
i see where she is coming from not as a person of colour but as a special needs kid i cant relate fully but i know what she is saying working harder missing out on things thank you for talking about this lilly
I support you Lilly. I love watching your rants
I so badly relate to it dude :))

I agree! Very well explained.
SO PROUD OF HER!! 🔥💯🔥
I love you so so much for talking about this Lilly! As another Indian woman, I very much related to this, and I love how you explained your experience and the experiences of others in a really clear way! I'm sure this video will be really helpful in educating people and raising some compassion and awareness for and about ALL human beings ❤️
Same
What exactly was her complaint about racism? Can you explain it to me? This word "racist" is so overused now a days that it's been devalued. Ask someone from the Jim Crow era what racism is.
yessss!!
Replace racism with sexism, white privilege with male privilege, and this video makes sense all over again!
Basically if you have any kind of privilege, accept it and use it for good instead of Whatabout-ery.
Heteronormism and hetero/cis privilege too! It applies.

Beautifully articulated. You rock!
Thank you. 🙏💞
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Privilege and systemic racism are topics that need to be discussed more openly. Unfortunately they have been politicized.
Wow, so nicely and politely put 👌👌👏👏
Thank you for bringing this up. I face this pretty intense in New Zealand. Generally people are nice but the narrative from the regime is so “othering”
Incredibly well said, Lilly.
I agree with your every word ❣️
Thank you for talking about this Lilly !!!
@Minuteman Luke you’ve left one hundred and eleven comments on this channel complaining about how you “hate” it. it’s time to seek therapy brother
@Minuteman Luke why do u wanna live ur life as a troll? this path will make u die alone. love urself and stop being horrible on the internet minuteman luke!! :-)
Thanks Lilly! What you’ve said matters and makes a difference.
Lilly nailed it! Yet again ❤️
You and your writers are sooo amazing. ♥️♥️
Thank you for addressing this topic with such grace and levity. ❤
That explained it so well. I think systematic racism is a global issue that can only be solved if we are willing to fix it together
love you lilly always authentic
Thank you for this video
You rock, Lilly! Keep it up!
Preach!
Thank You for this Lilly. Also notice how even while talking about being subjected to racism a woman of colour has to clarify they do not intend to offend anyone by calling it out because they know they will be heavily judged for it too.
Omg someone finally managed to put it through n through in words. Love you

Lilly’s definition of systemic racism
Wonder if there is a subtle difference between a society that was not designed for certain people
and a society that Intentionally excluded certain people?
I think so.
Consider a Garden that was built with a koi pond, intending to have fish swim about. The garden is meant to feature fish- but it wasn't necessarily built to keep out other creatures. The pond may not be the best space for, say a squirrel- but the designer may have not had squirrels in mind at all. That in itself is a problem, but it doesn't come from malice.
The other scenario is a Garden built with a koi pond, specifically wanting to accommodate fish- but also with electrified fences so that squirrels, birds and other creatures cannot come in.
In the first scenario people don't think they've done anything wrong, but what they don't realize is that while they are open to other creatures being in the garden, the garden doesn't accommodate other creatures being there. You may then be longing too see squirrels... But then you need to do something to make your garden more squirrel friendly.
In the second scenario, there were no plans to see squirrels- in fact you specifically wanted to keep them out. When they finally get in, nothing is fine to make the place hospitable for them- because again, you don't want squirrels in your garden.
I think we see examples of both situations in society- what we need to keep in mind is that they are both problematic in their own ways. The second scenario is easy to see why, but in the first one, there can be defensiveness about intention and awareness. That shouldn't really be the point.
If you want your koi pond Garden to also be accommodating to squirrels and birds and all other creatures- you can't just talk about what you wanted. You have to change the garden so that other creatures can enjoy it too.
If an organization has good intent but doesn't do anything to change their impact, then they might be better than the garden with an electric fence... But they're not doing anything to bring in a variety of different and exciting wildlife.
It’s both of those things! Unfortunately, our societies don’t cater to people of color, to women and to the LGBTQ+. We need to work harder to change the narrative! Let’s goooo 🔥
Love you Lilly ❤️
I hope people understand
What I like abt lilly and liza is their creativity and fun atmosphere
