Jerry Cantrell had a similar role in Alice in Chains to the role David Gilmour had in Pink Floyd, so it's especially interesting to see him sing this song, which is one of the classic Pink Floyd songs that Gilmour sings (if I'm not mistaken).

Starting off with Pink Floyd, David Gilomore and you're assumption of what this song was in reference to (Syd Barrett, but OK buddy) and you're so off the mark. Why wouldn't Jerry Cantrell sing this song in tribute to his band mate that HE lost, sort of like in reference to the band mate that Roger Waters and David Gilmore lost. *Syd Baret, original band mate who went off the deep end after too many ten strips and his underlying psychosis disorder led to him going into a life of hiding from the social media due to severe mental health breaks. Then to see the entire discourse of comments quiet literally made my stomach upset., cause y'all are damn clueless. Almost as upsetting as the dick bags in the audience who wouldn't STFU. Wow, I'm surprised at how much justice Jerry Cantrell did this vocal. David Gilmour is such an underrated vocalist and Jerry is a Pink Floyd fan. Jerry performed so well on this.
Jerry sang like 30% of the aic you hear. He just sounded so much like Layne that it sounded like Layne was double tracked. Not saying Layne wasn't amazing but Jerry contributed way more than guitar to aic and never got the vocal credit.
@radkins35 absolutely. He loved the dual vocal harmony ala Pink Floyd and The Beatles. It's awesome how they brought that to 90's alternative because they did it so damn well. Jerry is a treasure, for sure. I've always loved his vocal on Heaven Beside You. I knew he was a worthy vocalist back then, but didn't really pay too much attention to who was singing what as I was still young. I totally recognize him as a singer now when I listen to AIC.
