If you actually believe Daniel Jones isn’t the problem something is wrong with you. Only reason he is doing remotely decent this year is because of our offensive line with its massive improvement and Malik Nabers bailing him out every pass. The guy is like 2-15 on deep passes 20+ yards or more. Only passes he can hit is check downs and over the middle passes…
Everything isn’t all on Jones, however, he is an issue. Giants spent $160 million on a quarterback who isn’t accurate throwing the ball more than 20 yards down field. And defensive coordinators (like Bowen) are getting to good in the red zone and forcing so many field goals… so it is ESSENTIAL to be hitting on some of those lol deep touchdown passes. They are there! Danny is just over or under throwing every single throw. It’s insane
I would be using Nabers and Slayton like the Vikings used Moss and Carter back in the day. With the speed the Giants have, every play somebody should be going deep with a constant rotation of Nabers, Slayton, Hyatt, or TE Theo, somebody is going to get open.
Before listening, my answer to the title question. No, we aren't JUST short a QB from being in contention (lets be honest we don't even have a CB1). However, we will never be real contenders without a new QB.
The Slayton trade movement is absurd, always has been, always will be. Why do people assume that a 4th round pick will be more valuable than a fifth round pick that has led us in receiving the last three seasons. Jalin Hyatt isn't it currently, and you don't trade someone who has shown they can be an NFL WR (Slayton) for someone who hasn't (Hyatt).

I feel like the take that Daboll is a QB developer is falling apart. From the sample size we have with DJ, if Daboll had Sam Darnold under center, the team would be just as bad and we would be asking for a QB. I am record for being in favor of trading Slayton to create more playing time for Hyatt as well as giving him game reps to develop. If he develops, he can be WR2, with Wandale as the slot, at a lower pay than what Slayton will be looking for. Dak didn't connect on deep shots in the game Thursday. The Cowboys longest pass play was like a 12 yard pass to Lamb that he took around 50 more yards for a TD. The other score was a screen that went 10 yards after a broken tackle and then made some guy miss. The Giants gave Robinson a chance to score on an underneath crosser where he would have scored easy but he fell down untouched as he turned the corner. Which was huge if he scores then the Giants can win the game on that final possession with a FG.

A QB, an o-lineman, a kicker, and a d-lineman to replace Nunez-Roches. As much as I love Gano, and as great a signing as that was, he’s succumbing to injuries. Time to move on.
This offense is needs time to get into sync. Jones has never had so much time in a clean pocket and he needs to deliver the long ball earlier. The "free play" last week that resulted in an interception would have been fine if he had thrown it a second or so earlier. The defense is more disappointing to me than the offense. When was the last time I felt that way?
Keep building in 2025 draft. Do not reach for a QB. If a talented one is available grab them, if not draft linebackers, d-backs more a O-line. Also have Schoen build draft capitol and get contacts signed and good cap space situation. Draft Arch Manning in 2026. This has been my dream. (fantasy), for years. Giants get their third Manning to develop and the kid looks real good already. I definitely don't want Giants to spend big money on a free agent QB or trade for any QB with an outrageous contract. I want Jones replacement to be a rookie that Daboll can teach his offensive system to day one.
honestly if the Giants end up getting mathematically eliminated (or I guess I should probably say when) and they play Drew Lock because of DJs injury guarantee thing, that could end up being a good way to tank for a higher draft pick and a new QB. But who knows what will happen
i'm not even 100% confident Schoen/Daboll will make the right QB draft. Seems like the best player on the team is Gettleman drafted (Dex), and everyone else Schoen picked failed (except Nabers)

Honestly, with no Giants game on Sunday, watching the rest of the league...there is not many great teams this year. Not sure if its parity across the league with a lot of impact players changing teams this year or talent is down at certain positions like Oline and QB compared to years past in the NFL. If Giants can squeak out a win on the road against Seattle they can easily turn the season around. It would have been nice to retain Saquon with this line and adding Malik. His salary would be worth giving up others bc he can be RB1 and catches at a rate of a WR 3 or 4 then roll with young talent at those positions you take away. They could have found the 14M annually(Singletary is already $5M of that, grab $9M from extensions and not signing a few others that haven't really impacted like $2M with I. Simmons, now its $7M with extensions to AT or Dex. Then go get a QB next year and recoup $20M from cutting DJ.
This is why I don’t understand hating on Daniel Jones. Every team is a QB away. The teams named Chiefs and Bills have the only QBs that you can put on any team and then that team is contender.
Don’t mean to lay it on Danny and kick him while he’s down… but damn after rewatching the game, if WanDale had a QB who actually knew how to LEAD him and hit him in stride, he picks up a majority of those 3rd downs. Even with the short passes
I really believe those neck injuries took away DJs ability to throw the deep ball. Like what happened to Payton Manning. But DJ is younger so we don't think about it. He just can't throw the ball far anymore. Its obvious after watching the Cowboys game.
@@DonnaSbrocco-rj7uk you’re talking about maybe two passes that didn’t even go for 40 yards in the air 😒 when he literally under threw every pass over 20 yards on the season besides two overthrows you’re talking about. @alyevoli4122 It's not necessarily what I want. To me the situation dictates itself. We have a qb on a 40 million dollar contract with an opt out at the end of the year and no viable replacement. The "free play" last week that resulted in an interception would have been fine if he had thrown it a second or so earlier. The defense is more disappointing to me than the offense. When was the last time I felt that way?
The offense is averaging 15 points a game but you're more disappointed in the defense. This comment is disappointing.
Bobby you did not like Joey Porter before the draft
Your saying draft Arch like they can snap their fingers & make it happen.
honestly if the Giants end up getting mathematically eliminated (or I guess I should probably say when) and they play Drew Lock because of DJs injury guarantee thing, that could end up being a good way to tank for a higher draft pick and a new QB. But who knows what will happen
Can promise if we had a qb we’d at least make the wildcard each year
i'm not even 100% confident Schoen/Daboll will make the right QB draft. Seems like the best player on the team is Gettleman drafted (Dex), and everyone else Schoen picked failed (except Nabers)
Nubin looks solid, and Dru Phillips is the highest graded rookie on defense. It’s still to early to tell whether Schoen has done a good job.
Schoen wanted to mortgage future for Drake Maye, who couldn't beat out Brissett and looks terrible.
@@Thagomizer-U235 it didn’t end up happening though? He hasn’t been perfect, but any GM needs at least 4-5 seasons to truly know how good they are. I don’t think Daboll should be fired either. But this year’s QB prospects are shaky. Do if we give Schoen and Daboll a chance to get their guy, and we’re still atrocious next year then we should move away from them. But Daboll brought a group of misfits to the playoffs and won a game in 2022. That season could have been lightning in a bottle, but we’ll never know unless we let Daboll draft HIS guy at QB.
@@neokleos nubin played 4 games, and phillips has been hurt more often than not. we'll see how they turn out, however, most of Schoen picks so far have turned out pretty bad. FACT
@@powerbook76 you’re right but hindsight is always 20/20. No GM hits on EVERY pick. If these aforementioned guys stink it up the rest of the season or just look lackluster, then we have to clean house and start over. On the other hand, I think we need some stability in the front office for whomever the next QB is.
I definitely do NOT want to trade Slayten. Nabers just got concussed. Stuff happens and Slayten has chemistry with DJ, knows the Giants system.
DJ is gonna be benched soon. Who cares about the chemistry they have.
Why I don’t watch Talkin Giants anymore
This is why I don’t understand hating on Daniel Jones. Every team is a QB away. The teams named Chiefs and Bills have the only QBs that you can put on any team and then that team is contender.
Guess ill go onto UA-cam to hear the daily Daniel Jones bad-mouthing...
Even tho hes done enough to make us 3-1
Except we're 1-3. So shut up Bozo.
Don’t mean to lay it on Danny and kick him while he’s down… but damn after rewatching the game, if WanDale had a QB who actually knew how to LEAD him and hit him in stride, he picks up a majority of those 3rd downs. Even with the short passes
He couldn't even hit Nabers in stride on that wide open pass early in the game.
It’s okay bud.. pile on Jones all you want. Dude stole 160 million from the giants 😂 he sucks
Qb cb dt another guard these should all be attainable in a year
I really believe those neck injuries took away DJs ability to throw the deep ball. Like what happened to Payton Manning. But DJ is younger so we don't think about it. He just can't throw the ball far anymore. Its obvious after watching the Cowboys game.
The week before hexwas overthrowing receivers. It's not his neck . Stop pretending to be a doctor. It's just timing
@@DonnaSbrocco-rj7uk you’re talking about maybe two passes that didn’t even go for 40 yards in the air 😒 when he literally under threw every pass over 20 yards on the season besides two overthrows you’re talking about. Lol I’m not pretending to be a doctor but if your watching the games you’ll see he’s not flicking the ball down field like strong arm QBs do he’s putting his whole body into the throws that’s why he’s inaccurate. But keep defending him it doesn’t matter. We’ll have a new QB next year and you’ll feel dumb when you see the difference in real QB play and with Daboll’s play calling.
The biggest issue with Daboll is he calls plays like Josh Allen is still his QB. Tyrod Taylor fit the play calling much better than DJ
Not trying to be a hater but.......
How many games have we seen DJ have protection and reciever talent?
Let's ride it out and see if he can clean up some reads and hit the deep ball
Maybe he sucks......who knows
I'm not sold on Daboll ......he's made alot of stupid decisions and won jack shit really......but maybe he's amazing
I find it funny that if Bobby doesn't agree with someone's thought process it's a ridiculous opinion that garners 0 attention
There are teams that are poor choices for drafting a qb......hmmmm like.....this one when we drafted DJ
That may be a valid opinion
Also considering 95% of drafted QBs don't work out I would consider the cost it takes to trade up.to top 3 to get one of "the guys" to be too much
Also valid opinion really
Maybe you do or don't agree but if you don't that doesn't mean shutting down everyone else as invalid is an argument
@@yellowcake1320 it’s funny you’re not sold on Daboll but want to see more of Jones. Seems everyone is turning on everyone else to protect jones.
@alyevoli4122
It's not necessarily what I want. To me the situation dictates itself. We have a qb on a 40 million dollar contract with an opt out at the end of the year and no viable replacement. We just need to ride it out and see.
Aa far as Daboll goes I'm neither for or against.....but there have been some questions along the way.
@@yellowcake1320 so you’re all in for risking the extra $23 mil for a guy we have had for 5 years?
Is there any chance the questions on Daboll have anything to do with being limited in what he can call with DJ? I mean people complaining about not being aggressive when we missed 2 deep TDs.
Just seems like we enjoy shifting things away from certain people. 🤷🏻♂️
I guess accountability isn’t for everyone.
Good chance Sam Darnold will be our QB next year.
And immediately reverts to a bum.
@@garycunningham9216 😂
The cowboys aren’t a bad run defense they just faced two really good rushing teams these last two weeks the cowboys aren’t bad either they are the same team they were last year
We are a few drops away from 3-1.
Coming in with the hot takes, but after its obvious to most. lmao
"Once you cut Daniel Jones". Save that one fellas.
Are they a GM who can evaluate talent away? That’s the question
Horrendous run game is a bigger reason we aren’t winning games than Jones. But im willing to move in from him too.
I don’t get why people want Hyatt over Slayton. Hyatt has shown nothing, Slayton has been much better than Hyatt. Compare rookie seasons alone
Micah Mcfadden is a 3rd round 💎 soooo Joe didn’t miss on all his pix🤨
I don't know how you guys do it, this team can drive you crazy, I can't imagine all the time you put in given the results for quite some time. They should rename MetLife to BadFootball Stadium.
In the last 10 years the Jets have the second worst in the NFL at 56-107 and the Giants have the third worst record at 59-103-1, only the Jaguars are worse at 54-109. Feels like it will never change.
Chris Godwin would be nice 😅
