at least the rear brake was working for skids :) keeping it real Dave, nice - hopefully an easy fix - everyone loves the sunshine!

Something I didn’t think I’d be saying or thinking…I did catch myself thinking…”this doesn’t happen with rim brakes” 😂

@@DaveNoakes you make me laugh- it happens to me with rim brakes too...really unpleasant experience- when you find out you have no brakes on top of the hill, handing down....

Therein lies the problem with hydraulic brakes Dave......cables simply work and the difference is really minimal to me.

I've never had a problem with hydraulic brakes. Hope it was an easy fix. I have a Dolan GXA alu gravel bike. Its taken me to 95% of the places I've been on my MTB. The off roading in Cyprus where i live is quite rough. The bike is a bit more rattley than my hardtail but its still fun. And a lot better on the road sections

This is the first time I’ve had an issue…I think it’s down to installing it wrong rather than them failing. Gave everything a little tighten up and a rebleed and it seems ok.

I’ve switched to cable activated Paul Components Klampers on my gravel bike.Phenomenal brakes that will really surprise you! I got fed up with leaking callipers but I also want to able to fix them if need be when bike packing. If you get a chance give them a go. 👍

If I were going to use cables they would be ones i buy!

Growtac Equal mechanical calipers also highly rated.

If it were a canti brake you wouldn't have that problem Dave. Why ? because Dave Noakes Rides everything.😁

Rim brakes or cable actuated disc brakes ftw. Love the simplicity and they stop me just fine.

There's nothing like getting lost on a bike & discovering places you never knew existed. For some reason it's never stressful like doing it in a car.

😂 that’s so true! I need to remember this ride next time I get lost in my car.

love the positivity , i had a shimano grx do the same thing but it had popped a diaphragm and the oil leaked out a port in the side of the lever.

Brilliant to see you demonstrate the fact you don't need to spend £10.000 to have a fantastic Time on a bike that is more than fit for purpose!!. And I bet you don't get overtaken much either lol!.

it may be the seal in the lever end has failed. i hope not because that is very expensive. i was told never to push the pads apart without loosening the hose bolt at the lever end or you could cause the seal to fail.

Out on a ride today in wet Wales my front failed. Then I remembered, if Noakesy can get home with no front then so can I. I also realised I'm running mechanical rim brakes, so i can simply adjust the cable. As I said, it was wet. And rim brakes are shite in the wet. So I too, had to ride home with no front 😂. Glad you got back safely 👍
