This video is very informative. I have realized in the past couple of years that body language is way more important than I had ever thought. Not only this class, but a lot of my sales classes have emphasized the importance of body language in the business world, and everyday life. I like how the video specified that we should analyze our natural body language, possibly by recording ourselves talking, to fix the unwanted body language. Also, the part about mental visualization is very interesting to me because I have used this technique in sports, but never off of the field. This is all great advice.

One of the main takeaways I have from this video is that both verbal and non-verbal communication are things that need to be practiced. Communication is so much more than what someone is saying; body language, tone, and the method of communication (email, in person, etc) play a significant role in effectively conveying the right message. Even if it is the exact same information being given, the way it is expressed can vary immensely based on our relationship with the person, the medium we are communicating from, and/or whether or not the information is more important to one person over another. Almost everything we do involves some type of communication, even if no actual words are being transmitted. Something that I personally need to practice is visualizing having successful communication and being collected while I do it. As a student-athlete, this is something that I have practiced in sports, but I had never thought about applying that to other aspects of life. Something else I found interesting was asking clarifying questions to not only make sure that you understand what someone is trying to tell you but to also let that other person know that you were actively listening to them. This alone could solve so many lapses of communication at all levels, from talking to a friend to important business decisions.

This video touched on some very important issues that often don't get the attention they deserve. In the business realm, communication is essential and vital for effective decision making and for overall productivity. Last semester, I took a business communications class that emphasized the topics covered in this video. Adriana provides great insight and demonstrates great knowledge to her audience. As an aspiring business professional and salesperson, these communication skills will help me excel in what I do. I often forget the importance of active listening and body language and the tools she provides will help resolve this issue I face. In just 3 short minutes, Adriana teaches us the skills that will separate us from others and enable us to become more effective communicators. I intend to be more conscious of these tips and tricks in the future to come.

This video highlights the importnace of communication skills in the workplace. Communication is such a key component in today's business world, it is something that should be taught more. The video talks about managers communicating with their staff as well as staff communicating with other staff. Without the perfection of communication, a company cannot flow correctly. A topic she highlights is body language, which I think is something that is not practiced enough. Having good posture, maintaining eye contact, and standing straight up can speak volumes. Furthermore, with communication, is the art of active listening. One cannot communicate if one cannot listen. All in all, this video does a great job of showing how and why communication is important in the work plce.

This video is great! It's about both verbal and nonverbal (body language) communication.
After seeing this video I realized how important it is to understand and learn how to efficiently communicate, communication is more complicated than it seems. There are a lot of factors involved, not just what one is saying… the Tone, body language, writing skills (ex. emails) and medium of communication also play a big role in communicating what you want to share. I found very interesting the body language part of the video, she does a great job explaining all the steps and methods in a very simple way.

I really enjoyed this video and learned a ton. One thing I noticed that she spoke about is how important body language is in communication, specifically in listening. Body language often seems like something that we should only worry about when we are speaking, but really, it is a crucial part of active listening. Using the right body language can show somebody how engaged we are in what they have to say. It can show whether or not we are comprehending what they are saying and whether or not we are fully listening. I really like this concept because body language has to be intentional, so if your body language is intentional, there is a good chance you are also listening intentionally.

One thing that I never paid much attention to was the importance of body language. Being attentive and "actively listening" to someone is an important skill that everyone should learn.

This video is a great tool to utilize and reference when understanding the concept of professional communication skills. Communication has many facets, especially within the corporate sphere. One of the most important; however, is that of nonverbal communication. Often, hints and messages are lost within texts and emails that could have been more effective in verbal dialogue. Speaking in person with someone is powerful due to the cues we give using our body language. The example presented in the video is quite a common one, and a movement most of us do automatically. The crossing of one’s arms in front of their chest during conversation creates an underlying message that the individual is either uncomfortable or closed off. Either way, it does not portray a positive feeling and can negatively impact the other person’s perception. If we want to come off as confident we need to be aware of our eye contact, stance, and tone of voice. If one can be aware of all three pillars, then one can actively set themselves up for a purposeful and fruitful conversation. It is certainly something that I am more aware of after watching this video and will work to be attentive to my own mannerisms, so that I may be successful in my future formal communications.

This video does a fantastic job of explaining the importance of communication. This video can also really help you hone your communication skills in the workplace. I especially enjoyed how in depth the video went. It just goes to show how communication is so much more than just talking. The other key factors of communication are body language and the ability to listen. Body Language needs to show effort and understanding of the material you are listening too. You can showcase this by sitting up and nodding your head as the speaker is talking.

Professional communication skills are incredibly important. The way you communicate with friends versus people you work with, especially those superior to you, is super important. Body language is important because it shows what your words are not saying. You want to make sure engagement shows and that you are paying attention. I found this video extremely helpful and necessary as people don’t really talk about this. People will pick up on things that you may not even notice you do. Body language is super important in interviews. The interviewer does not know you much at all and how you communicate within that half-hour to hour can determine a lot of your future. Eye contact, volume of the voice, firm handshakes, and a calm persona can go a long way. As she mentions in the video, even if you are nervous it is important to kind of suppress those feelings for the time being in order to be professional. I found it super important to be a problem solver as well. You don’t want to be focusing on being not successful, but rather on how to be the most successful and come up with different alternatives. Lastly, I find the most important part of communication to be listening as well. While it is important to get your ideas out there it is just as important to really hear and take in what the other person is saying.

This video does a great job of explaining the importance of all forms of communication. Additionally, it can really help you understand your own body language in day-to-day activities. It explains how communication is simply more than a conversation, it is the way you hold yourself during the conversation. To show you are actively listening to the person communicating you also need to have good body language and ask engaging or clarification questions. Within the workplace, body language and listening are essential to have great conversations and for the company to be successful. This video has really helped me understand the importance of body language as it is a way of non-verbally communicating to whomever you are talking or listening to.

This video highlights the importance of communication both verbal and non verbal communication. Something as simple as body language can convey so much about your emotion and how other perceive you. The way you speak and listen with your body are all picked up on in conversations and presentations. The placement of your hands, eye contact, nodding and smiling, posture and feedback are all important ways to that you are listening and engaged in the conversation. Communication through emails is very important as well, some people nowadays will even use emojis to convey emotions over email or text. Something that I need to personally work on as a listening is having good posture and maintaining eye contact throughout the conversation. This is allow the speaker to feel heard and see that I am interested and engaged in our conversation. Another great way to show that you are engaged is to ask follow up questions and clarifying questions to allow you to fully understand what the speaker is talking about. As well as show you are an active listener. Overall this video did a great job of explaining the important of communication in the workplace and how your body language can also be a very important part of communication.

I really enjoyed this video! I think it provided great insight as to how one's body language alone is a big part in communicating with others, especially when it comes to showing the speaker that you are fully engaged in what they are talking about. I found the part about when a person is sitting down and they tend to tap/bounce their leg up and down, to be insightful because I am also one of those people that tend to do that when I may be nervous or feeling a bit unsettled in certain situations. It's something that I've been more conscious about to try and stop doing that, so I don't make others feel as if I am bored or being impatient, when it's really just a "me thing" in my case.

The video is eye opening to those who lack understanding of how important body language is. Body language is nearly 90% of communication amongst humans and is often a way of revealing how one is feeling, whether or not they are engaged, as well as if they support the company's goal. As a manager, you can lead more effectively through good body language, and this behavior will influence the response from the employees. It is always good to make eye contact in discussion, which is arguably the act the communicates the most information. It helped me to think about managing my nerves and how there are times where I am super jittery and anxious due to high pressure environments. Deep breaths go along way and can help increase your body language greatly. I think it is also important to see yourself in video because it is truly hard to zoom out and understand your every move. An important thing to think about when addressing people verbally is pacing and how your body is responding to the things we are saying.

I really enjoyed this video, largely because of how passionate and excited the speaker sounds about professional communication. My biggest take away was to be conscience of when and where I cross my arms. I, like the speaker said, normally cross my arms for no other reason than that I have nothing else to do with them. I was not really aware that it could make me look disinterested or disrespectful cause it is just a normal reaction for me. I also enjoyed when she was talking about emails, cause I have been working to improve my emails and make sure they do not carry on for too long and that they are effective. Something she said that I was already kind of aware of was how to be an active listener. Whenever I am in class or listening to someone speak, I always make sure maintain eye contact and keep nodding my head out of respect for the speaker. Normally the person speaking focuses and maintains better eye contact with you when you are engaged and nodding your head to everything they are saying. This was a really helpful video, and I will definitely be looking at her channel for more instructional videos.

I think this video does a great job of explaining the importance of communication and its different characteristics. Many people believe that communication is simply talking, but it is much more complex than that. This video touches on two of the main aspects of communication, body language and active listening. As a business student, it is important for the future of my career that I have a complete understanding of how to properly communicate. Body language says a lot more than what you actually say. It can show that you are either open or closed to the conversation or how engaged you are. Bad body language immediately sends a bad impression to the other communicator. The other important thing is to actively listen. Active listening goes beyond just hearing the words someone is saying. It is hearing, understanding, and then giving a response that shows you know what the other person just said. It is incredibly important and one of the main lessons in my sales classes. If you are not actively listening there is no point in having a conversation. This video does a great job of explaining the importance of active listening and body language.

This is definitely something I've been meaning to practice and get better at. Often times I'm so focused on "what" I'm trying to say that I forget "how" to present myself properly. Lack of eye contact, poor body language, ineffectual tone are all definitely problems I struggle with. This video was very informative about the do's and don'ts of effective communication. I was most surprised to learn some of these active listening techniques. I'm definitely going to be taking some of these to heart and get some practice in with my friends.

Professional communications skills are vital to one's success in the workplace. Not only do professional communications skills allow you to be able to converse with your coworkers and boss, but they teach you have to properly LISTEN to both of these types of people. Truthfully, listening is much more important that talking to other people, because it is much easier to learn while listening to the words of another person rather than talking. In addition, I find it highly significant that body language can give signals to the one who you are communicating with on whether or not you truly are listening to them or simply blowing them off. Even the position in which you stand while having a conversation can give clues as to whether or not you are listening, which I found very interesting and true. In essence, body language is form of nonverbal communication that is super important in allowing those who you are conversing with to recognize that you are truly listening and making them feel important.

Communication goes way beyond verbal interactions and includes other factors such as body language, listening, and confidence. Mastering these skills can help us cultivate more memorable conversations in our daily lives while allowing the other person to feel valued. Finding the perfect balance in utilizing proper communication skills can be challenging; however, consistent practice can help us become the speakers/consultants we aspire to be. The continuous increase in social media platforms has also made online communication more vital than ever before. Reviewing posts and emails before releasing information to others is crucial to avoid any paramount mistakes. Similarly, having the ability to craft impactful messages can help set an individual apart from their peers and attract a larger audience. After watching this video, I am excited to work on my active listening skills and will ask for feedback from peers about how I may improve as a communicator. The ability to empathize with another person and understand their main concerns will leave a lasting impact on all of our relationships. Having the confidence to address my weaknesses and understand that not every conversation will go perfectly is important in order to grow as a successful business professional.

I loved this video. I learned just how important a role body language can play in business. Not only are they important, but they can make or break your career. I thought it was interesting that so much of our communication comes from our body language alone. It really made me think and start to become more cognizant of my body language in the future! Adriana explained the effects that both positive and negative body language can have in the workplace. I think it is important to note the overarching effects that they can have because one can lead to tremendous success while the other can be career ending.

I think that this video going over professional communication skills is a great video for everyone who interacts in the professional world to watch. While I myself already knew about some forms of good communication, this video really hit on a lot of good points and was a great refresher on the topics I have already learned about. I think the most important part of this video was emphasizing how important nonverbal communication is in the business world. While many focus on the words that come out of their mouths and how they say them, it is also important to remember that everything you do can help or deter you from getting your message across. I also liked the part of the video that touched upon active listening. For young employers new in the workforce, it is very important that they show their active engagement when dealing with higher ups. On the other hand it is also important for managers and executives to show that they actively listen to their employees in order to create a strong sense of teamwork and community.

This video emphasized key concepts that are crucial for good communication. As I get older, the things mentioned in this video become more noticeable. One of the most important things that she talked about was active listening. In the career that I want to pursue, like many other professions, active listening is something that can set someone apart from the rest. People like to talk about themselves and like to be asked questions and the best way to make someone feel important is to actually listen to what they have to say. This is not just done through the contents of the conversation but through your body language, eye contact, etc.. It is really easy for some people to pick up on whether someone is actually interested in the conversation or not, so being aware of that is really important for good relationships. A big takeaway from this video was the fact that even though she was an expert on this material she had things to work on as well. She had mentioned that she moves her hands around a lot when she talks which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it can be distracting when talking to others. All in all, this video was very helpful and I will definitely take what I learned and apply it in my everyday life.

This video breaks down the different ways body language conveys your emotion. It's imperative to understand this to control how you come off to people. Professional communication skills mean conveying competence and preparedness in both verbal and nonverbal communication. Your posture, hand placement, eye contact, facial expressions, and head positions are all minor adjustments that will have a major impact on how the person you're speaking with perceives you. In order to appear to be an attentive listener, you must show with your body that you are engaged and focused on what the other person is trying to say. Small head nods in agreement and maintained eye contact are such small ways of making the other person in the conversation feel that they're saying something valued.

I enjoyed watching this video on professional communication skills and as I closely related to it well transferring majors from a math and science field to the business field. The main problem I had was presenting in large groups or audiences because I had not done that before in my previous classes. The points that this video makes about presenting. What I found most helpful was exaggerating and pacing around while talking while also using my hands to convey the meaning of what I'm saying, if something is important or not. Before when I presented I was using negative body language which I believe made it a less interesting presentation and made me seem less inviting. Watching this I was able to understand the main importance of not closing yourself off like crossing your arms when you're speaking to an audience. When I started to express myself with my hands and walked around to talk about presenting it began to seem more natural and felt like a conversation. Always interesting to learn new ways do you seem more inviting so that people would be more present when you share.

I enjoyed this video Adriana gave some very insightful points on how body language affects our conversations. She mentioned some techniques to use when trying to convey your interest in what someone is saying, such as nodding along or smiling. Showing a company interest when communicating is crucial, this allows the company to see your interest when hiring or making a deal visually. Positive body language is necessary for business when trying to barter a contract, knowing the other person has good intentions makes things go smoother. Her insight on what traits to stay away from when trying to efficiently communicate like tapping your leg or fingers are very helpful. Actions like these show the listener that you are not fully immersed in what they are saying. This discourages the speaker and can lead to the breaking of a deal for business professionals. Insight like this is crucial for the success of young leaders and professionals such as myself. Her emphasis on breathing and controlling yourself when trying to communicate is also an excellent point to shed light on. It is so important to not let anger or any emotion cloud your message and to calmly deliver your message.

This video was very helpful especially as I am going to internships with job opportunities and having professional communication skills will help me succeed. One point made is body language and this can be very hard because it's a natural thing, but as I reach this profession, my body language speaks a lot and can be read wrong. Having my arms crossed will show as defensive and looking away can mean I'm not listening or not interested. All these mistakes can lose opportunities. Another skill that I will add under my belt is reiterating what another person is saying to prove that I am engaged. Not only will this help my relationship with someone but also help me really understand and continue to be engaged. Having both of these professional communication skills will be used in everyday life as well because I am meeting many people that I want to start off on a good foot. It’s difficult to have a balance of every skill from listening to body language, but with practice and constant experience in internships I will become a professional in communication skills. If that is in person or on Zoom call meetings, I will improve in these skills to prove I am an employee who is engaged and eager to succeed.

I thought this video was very informative and offered good advice on how to improve your professional communication skills. One thing that I found very interesting is the importance of body language in communications. While I have always understood that it is important for the speaker to practice certain body language techniques, I did not know how important it is for the listener to employ certain tactics. For example, listeners shouldn’t be tapping their fingers or crossing their arms in front of them, since this does not show that they are actively listening. Something else that I found interesting is the idea of visualizing yourself giving the presentation. This is a really interesting tip that I can see myself utilizing in the future to make my presentations more successful. I also think that meditation is a great tool to implement. I usually try to take a few deep breaths before a presentation to calm myself down, but on presentation days I should try to devote a few minutes in the morning to allow myself to clear my head and focus on the presentation. Overall, I found this video to be super helpful, and I will definitely implement these tactics into my next presentation!

Understanding and utilizing body language is essential for success. Lack of body language is the reason that there is so much miscommunication through texting and emailing. So, this video is very beneficial to those in the business world, but also beyond that. Someone can be the smartest person in the room with the most brilliant ideas, but if they cannot effectively communicate their ideas, the ideas end with them; As the video made clear, body language is key to effective communication. Knowing what your actions are contributing to what you are saying is the difference between a good speaker and a great speaker (and a good employee and a great employee). It is interesting how she portrayed the ways that intentional body language assists both the speaker and the listener in a conversation. As a listener, if you are intentionally positioning yourself to show (through body language) that you are actively paying attention, then this will eventually become muscle memory, and you will become an active listener without trying. On the speaker's side, if you see people looking engaged it will encourage you to give your best in the conversation. Overall, communication will flow easier and the information will be better understood by all.

This video shows what is crucial for body language and how through that you can communicate a lot without saying anything. If you are standing defensively with your arms crossed or looking away from someone, you can signal that you want the conversation to be over or are not interested in what they are saying. You need to find the right balance between talking and listening and remember the vitality of listening and being engaged in what one is saying. Another, struggle especially with zoom and displaying what you are saying when you are not in person or when it is over zoom. When that occurs, you must try to demonstrate that you clearly understand the message or that you are following a long if there is a meeting over zoom. By nodding and looking at the person you can show you are aware and interested. Through this engagement and using things like emojis when writing an email, your boss or co-workers will know that you are engaged, ready to work, and there when they need you.

I think she does a great job about describing the various things that go in to body language and how they can be perceived as negative or positive. One of the things she mentioned in the video was a person bouncing their leg. I subconsciously do this a lot. However, to an outside observer, I may seem anxious or nervous which is attributed as a negative behavior. I thought it was interesting how important body language is in the business world. It is also something that applies in various disciplines. In one of my sales classes, we talked about how leaning forward slightly can show your customer your interest in the conversation and what they are saying. The opposite of this would be someone leaning back. This to most people shows a disinterest in what is being said. Another example of body language can be eye contact. Consistent eye contact can help a person to believe that they are being heard and relaxes them. Not making eye contact portrays the opposite image of disinterest. Body language is crucial in any profession because the vast majority of communication you make with other people is non verbal. This means your body language will set the tone of most of your conversations.

I have always tried to do my best in formal conversations to have good focus and not let my hands get in the way. How the video spoke on this and gave advice on what to focus on will help me in the future in the professional world. I was very influenced on the managing on the nerves. Although I feel I have dealt with this issue well before, I am usually a little nervous in the beginning of certain big presentations I am giving. Being prepared and taking deep breaths just as the video said is going to help me tremendously and let me get my words and explain what I want to say concisely. Overall, I am glad this video was shown in class as I believe it is very beneficial to me and my classmates along with anyone else who would need some advice going forward in the business or professional world. Quite interesting; While I have hyped myself up via telling myself that a speech will be a success, I have never considered visualizing said accomplishment before hand. considering how harmful imagining how things may go wrong can be to one's confidence and performance, I imagine that thinking of positive resolutions would be quite affective in upping one's confidence prior to a speech or other important engagement. The body language segment was quite helpful as well, considering I send to lock up when nervous, arms constricting into being crossed while I hardly even notice. As much as I hate to admit it, I have also found myself tapping my foot as described on more than one occasion, as well as making a circular motion with my hand/finders to indicate a desire for someone to get to the point. Still, when I am able to resist said urges, the use of my arms for emphasis has been quite helpful in the past, as well as slowing down my speech as to portray confidence and understanding.
TLDR: amazing video, didn't know the visualization of success technique but will be sure to use it in the future, as well as attempting not to lock up mid conversation
