You meant Oh My General, right? Sheng Yllun is a fantastic and versatile actor. He brought both a stolid emperor and the capricious prince to life . He sang the theme songs here and in Oh My General. He was magnificent in the dance contest and the singing contest.
After watching Sheng Yilun's other drama Oh My General and saw how an empress or royal concubine acted, and what an emperor would do when angered, if Qi Sheng was not kind and did not love her, what she did could have gotten her maid and herself killed. She talked about conscience, but bottom line, given that the emperor could still kill her maid; she played with her maid's life and betrayed the eunuch for her own ego. This empress simply used the fact that the emperor had a kind heart to go against him. Kind-hearted people are always taken advantage of. I was so happy that the grand empress dowager did what she did for her grandson.
I love Sheng Yilun’s acting. What a fantastic and versatile actor he is. This scene when the emperor said that no one understood him, the pain and disappointment were palpable. They were in his eyes, his facial expression and his entire bearing. When Jiang said that she was willing to become a maid, the little subtle smile hovering around his mouth and the look in his eyes showed that he was up to something. Expressive eyes are such great assets to an actor and Sheng Yilun has the most beautiful and expressive eyes and they telegraphed the emperor's thoughts and feelings so well. The empress said that people who were nice to her were important to her, but she sacrificed the eunuch for her own pride. She was also such a horrible mother to just sit there and eat and drink and told the maid that the baby was too young to know things. It was no wonder the baby disliked her and loved the emperor in ep. 27. The scene between the father and son was so endearing and precious. It was one of my favorite scenes.
