I actually have a question about the first application. Why do we apply that Vaseline type stuff first? Does it all wash off when we do the scrub? I know I applied this stuff once on its own before and it worked really good! Can I use it on its own or is there a specific reason it is used before using the scrub? Hi Amber! The Protecting Softener is the first step because massaging it onto hands prior to the Satin Smoothie supports the skin barrier by sealing in moisture. However, there is nothing wrong with using it on its own as well if that is the preference!
