- I recorded a nice dramatic close range fight between myself and YS with several back and forth skirmishes and an uncertain outcome right up to the end. After that we're doomed, though, because players elsewhere on the map are free to play simcity without worry and will end up with much stronger economies.

Yes! I have ideas for at least two more, but they are very time consuming and I have a lot of projects I need to work on. So more maps will need to wait.

Couldn't you macro being these fights and for instance set up the second locus factory?
The first locus factory can be built mostly with initial loadout; building a second locus factory requires a tungsten surplus. Getting a tungsten surplus requires either building fewer locus (but then you die before you finish the second factory) or it requires more turbines to power more impacts, which requires taking more early space with units that aren't helping defend (so you die that way too).
If there were an option other than your own locus to defend 4 or 5 minutes locus, then macro out of a fistfight could work. But, all other units trade less efficiently against it, any turrets available are too expensive, and trying to hide behind walls either uses all your attention to micro, or doesn't slow down locus enough.
