I’m glad it was helpful! This was just my experience-I know there are others who enjoy selling on the sight-so do what you think is best for you :)

I agree. Fiverr has a few things I don't like
Fiverr's automatically starting a counter even if they're in a different time zone is crazy
The fact that even if a client takes 2 days to respond to an order I delivered it's still counted as a late order
No way to deny a gig even if it's actually what you do. Once they order you dont have a lot of control over it

That counter can be STRESSFUL 😂

Just watching this I feel burnt out. Oh man so frustrating indeed. Ko-fi seems a lot better. I appreciate you sharing your experiences with fiverr.

This took my breath away! Because I'm getting ready to do some freelancing and I've been trying figure out how to finesse ko-fi and calendarly so I don't have to pay a bunch of fees

Very interesting your video! Thanks for sharing. I absolutely 💯 agree with your attitude on fiverr and I'm happy that you described your alternative. I think I will test it out and let's see what will happen.
    Much love 💕

good luck! I will say, Ko-Fi does not have the audience that Fiverr does or the google search rank, so there are definitely pros and cons to both. But Ko-Fi is awesome if you already have a built in client base which is why I switched!

@Leah Rummel very wise ... and future is always changing. Let's see what else will happen.
When watching your account you inspired me a lot. Thanks!

I think Fiver sounds like an opportunity for those who are just staring out, but with regular customers and a platform on social media it makes sense to move on👍

Totally agree. Also depending on if someone wants to then take on the work of marketing themselves after getting off.

I want to clarify how the response rate stat works (currently). To level up, you need to respond to 90% of first contact messages within 24 hours. You don't need to respond to anything within an hour (of course you should keep this as low as possible). The second part of this is order response rate (which currently doesn't affect leveling up but is still displayed in your sidebar). This goes down if you don't post a message to a new order or revision request within 24 hours. The system isn't perfect and there are definitely some website design problems that can cause you to inadvertently get lower stats than you should (I've had issues with delivery dates not being set properly under specific circumstances, which they've fixed now) but as long as you're checking and responding to NEW messages at least twice a day, you shouldn't have too many problems with response rates. You also need to keep on top of platform changes, as they do update these things occasionally... without really notifying you.
Good points, thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks for the clarification! If that is the case with it being within 24 hours then I have no idea why my response rates varied because I always responded within that timeframe for both new messages and new orders 😂 I do remember knowing it was 24 hours in the beginning but the rate kept changing seemingly unprompted and I think I saw somewhere that it’s advised to reply in an hour so I must have conflated the two.

@@LeahRummel I think I saw the same thing at one point. I have a feeling it had to do with spam messages that got removed before I replied/reported them but still counted against my response rate. Just a theory.

Additionally; I thought about opening a Patreon first, and I do think it is excellent, but also the pool of creators is so high there, and it’s not for one-time donations, so I went with BMaC. And the community side of BMaC even for those who aren’t supporters or subscribers is what drew me.

I still have a kofi account and I have not had one subscriber I've had maybe 3 tips maybe in 2015 and I still post all the time..like a crazy person..waiting.. now on Fiverr or I made thousands of dollars on.

I haven't interacted with Fiverr much but it definitely doesn't sound like a great long term place for sellers. I'm hoping Kofi works out much better for you!

Fiverr is really a place to get started and have a little cashflow. Definitely not about to replace your day job by itself for the majority of most people

It can be frustrating! I think it works better for lower cost gigs-but editing can be pricey and it was just overall something I didn’t wanna deal with anymore

Basically, I hated every platform that treated creators like we're their employees instead of their clients. I picked ko-fi because of that. At least for now (I only been using for a year), they're treating me like their very precious clients (eventhough I'm just a hobbyist writer/game dev) unlike some of their... competitors.

to be honest it's hard to find something on ko-fi , i use fiver to hire rock metal signer and i cant find one on ko-fi, the search is really bad for buyers / no info you need to click it. if i search for a signer, they show me NSFW cosplayer 😅 . for what i see ko-fi is a personal web store like wix etsy etc.

Fiverr tries to gaslight sellers into believing they have our backs. They don't. It seems as if anytime there is a new something or other, we end up being the ones on the losing end.

I’m not sure, I’ve never posted a video to kofi! Technically that’s true about UA-cam too though, just not built into the app/website itself. Unsure if that’s a built in feature for ko-fi or not

    Hi Leah Rummel,
I would like to ask you, if it is not indiscretion, how are you doing in Ko-Fi today compared to the movement you had in Fiverr. Do you still recommend it?
Best regards and thanks for the information.

    • @LeahRummel

Kofi has been good for me with an already existing client base but it’s weakness is it doesn’t pull in new clients. So if you’re just starting out on any freelance work I’d recommend Fiverr over KoFi but if you have an existing client base I’d recommend KoFi for its lack of fees.
My work has slowed since switching to KoFi but this was intentional since I did not want to take on new clients and I have been focused more on building my crochet business recently. Hope that helps!

i am already having a bad experience on fiverr due to many reasons and I had been thinking of switching over to kofi full time and make a video of my bad experience when I watched this video. Now I am happy with my decision to quit fiverr. What is your opinion on Gumroad?

    • @LeahRummel
      @LeahRummel  Рік тому
