El idioma que hablaban ellos no se entendía (no sé si se puede considerar portugués), ya que utilizaban muchas palabras no españolas/portuguesas.

Alot of ppl compared SEA with latin america, we have so many similiar cultures despite being on the opposite sides of the world :)

Colonialism is a good thing. A Filipino friend of mine also loved Spain for its former colonial masters. We Turks stayed in the Balkans for about 500 years. However, the opposite is true for us. The fact that we stayed there for 500 years is the reason why all Balkan peoples do not like us. I wish the Ottomans were colonialists like the British, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

In Indonesian Archipelago, they met other people group from mainland Asia who migrate to Taiwan, Philippine Archipelago, and then they migrate again south to Indonesian Archipelago. Both of these people group met in Indonesian Archipelago and then they mixed. That's why some of them looks like asian with african characteristic or looks like african with asian characteristics. (Welcome to Timor-Leste!).
We are not speaking Portugues really well, but most of Tetum language are mixed Portugues, we understand Portugues even though we are not speaking much.
