    If you are suffering a P0171 or P0174 I'm going to go over some very simple checks that will most likely lead to solving the issue. P0171 and P0174 are usually related to Unmetered air entering the engine while it's running. This unmetered air can get it past the Mass air flow sensor, can be a leaking throttle body or intake, exhaust leak, intake gaskets, this can also be due to poor fuel delivery to the engine. symptoms of this can be plugged fuel filter, weak fuel pump, restriction or blockage in the fuel line.

    Thanks. Very clear and direct information. Got a P0171 on my XJ and I refuse to bring out the parts cannon like I would do in the past. I now have a direction to go to fixing this problem.

    If u have high fuel trims and they improve with higher rpms start looking for a vacuum leak

    Another lean misfire issue vortecs are notorious for are knock sensor harness failures related to continuity. Generally shows up as knock sensor failure.

      i replaced my knock sensors and harness plus siliconed them in place so hopefully no issues

    While yes, the stoichiometric ratio for gasoline as a fuel is 14.7 to 1, that is based on a calculation. In most actual real world use, a richer ratio, one usually below 14.0 to 1 gives you the best performance which in my opinion gives you the best value. Yes, you may not get as complete of burn in the engine which can lead to higher carbon emmisions but better performance. As with just about everything, compromises need to be made. Do you give up power for better emissions or do you live with higher emissions for better performance?

    But Jerry the parts guy like it when the parts cannon goes off.
    Good old-fashioned carb cleaner works well for finding leaks..

    My issues pops up these codes at idle. If I start the motor and don’t let it idle the codes will not pop up. FF data shows at 600 rpm

    I have both p0171 and p0174 on my 200 chevy s10 4.3L v6. Only happens in the summer though. In the winter it drives like new and I'm lost. I've replaced both the fuel pump and fuel filter twice, maf like 5 times (autozone junk), I've replaced the pcv valve and the hose and boot. From what I can tell there's no intake leak, but I cannot confirm that. I do have an exhaust leak at my downstream o2 sensor and I know that because I had both catalytic converters replace and they inspected it and told me. I have not yet replaced my injectors and plan to just because. I was also told it could be the exhaust leak or coolant temp sensor. Any ideas? I did the live data and everything appears to be perfect. In the winter it has 0 issues and never has any code whether it's pending or stored codes.

      Hello did you ever find the problem I’m having the same problem

    • @tb898
      @tb898 Рік тому

      @@_afexx_8195 I did. It turns out my fuel injector spider was the problem. GM used a terrible fuel injection system and made a new one called a MPFI which has the injectors on the ends of the spider legs instead of the base of the spider. All my issues went away and my truck drives so nicely now

      @@_afexx_8195 make sure you get the ones labeled MPFI. Autozone has them for about $400. The original style costs about the same so you might as well do the upgrade. 100% worth it
