Star Trek The Next Generation | The Ensigns Of Command (3x2)
The Shelliak were one of the few examples in Trek of what an actual alien would probably look like, completely different not humanoid. Their morals are like Enron or Nestle.
No one knows what an actual alien looks like. So to make it easier for actors, they are generally made to appear similar to Earthlings.
What's your point? Have you ever seen an actual alien?

It's only now, with decent CGI, we can go crazy.
For all we know, each spacefaring alien species would have evolved to look identical to humans.
well in star trek they later made it that all life came from one specie that seeded the galaxy so in most cases they would be humanoid, in real life who to say, we wont know until we find some
Look at all the different forms of life on our planet. There must be similar out there somewhere. Humanoid, reptilian, insect, amphibian, etc.

Reverse Angle does these hilarious reviews of STNG on youtube. HIghly recommend. They argue, somewhat convincingly, that it was really the Shelliak who were in the right, following the rules of the lengthy treaty.
The Shelliak were always in the right and they are lucky they didn't get their asses blown off while playing class clown. You can get away with that in high school but not at corporate... And this is far more serious... You don't dick around with a vastly superior force over a few stubborn farmers out of place...

Its about utilization of obscure resources and protocols to solve fixed and unusual set of circumstances where in tact, resourcefulness and diligence enable a outcome agreeable to all involved.

If that is the Shelliack domain, why were those humans allowed to settle there? Why nobody thought of telling them of their status? No emergency evacuation plan for them? That’s crap Federation practice through and through.
And a more general question. If Picard & crew could teleport themselves, why did they need to physically travel with their ship?
