I cannot and will not say anything bad about your lathe turning skills, because I have never used a lathe and probably wouldn't be any better. 😁 The lure blank you removed from it looks pretty sweet. Nice job!
It was more difficult and time consuming then anticipated, but the result was very satisfying indeed 😃 and the second popper (turned without camera pressure) came even easier 💪 take care 👋🎣
@@SuchaJerkCustomLures I know what you mean my friend. I finished making a 4-piece swimbait lure last week using a pinned hinge for the first time and it was a lot more work than the twist-eye joints that I normally use. I wasn't completely happy with the freedom of movement in the joints. So I just finished making the second one this morning and it's much better. Seems we always put a little pressure & stress on ourselves by pushing the limits to new horizons in order to better ourselves. Keep on keeping on!
Drill a hole all the way through. Hang a swivel on the wire for the center hook, way easier. Do a wire wrap for the split ring to go onto the rear. It will not pull out or break. 150lb bluefin tuna on mine.
Yes it is a nice method as well, did one smaller like that, however I don't like the esthetics of the tail wrap 🤷 and for me visual part of the lure is as important as the practical/fish catching capability
Hi Chris and thanks 🙏 yeah... it's coming, slowly but surely 😅 sorry for the delay, I don't have motivation lately for editing process, already 3 new lures footage pending 🤦
Tokarka mojego kolegi, mi się fajnie toczyło.mimo braku doświadczenia, kumpel też jest zadowolony - wiadomo Parkside robi robotę za nieduże pieniądze 💪 pozdro 👋
Here I did use 1.2mm stainless steel welding wire. But in general for big GT fishing is recommended to use 1.6mm at least. I know I can get away with thinner wire, since my setup only have max drag of 11kg on the 8k Shimano I'm using. Did catch 11kg yellow fin tuna without any issues on the lure with 1.2mm wire.
Why not buy cheep rolling pins from the Pound shop's, beechwood turns and sand's so good and the rolling pins save half of the work. I really miss my wood lathe, on it most day's until some kind person burnt my shop to the floor at 3am. Police found who did it but they were only 14 years old so nothing was done.
I feel sorry for you mate, terrible stunt by little degenerative C**ts 😡 but thank you for the tip with the rolling pin (the initial part fighting with the corner cutting was the biggest struggle) 🙏👌
